Wow, you really have finished a lot! It's neat that it shows the breakdown like that. (I'm not very familiar with video editing programs. I do wish I could find one that I could cut and paste with, though.)

What do you mean by cut and paste? What type of things do you need the editing program to do?

Well, sort of like how I use Audacity do edit audio, I'd just like to know about a program where I could remove a section and put it somewhere else or insert a new video clip, etc... Something fairly straightforward I could learn a bit with.

To be honest, I don't know why I haven't just asked Davnes or SSWR by now. Just forget to, I suppose. They do lots of nice edits and post them on YouTube. That's the sort of thing I'd like to try someday.

You can do all that with vegas

I just donated a bit, but not just as a result of your post, I promise. :P Hopefully it will be enough- I'm not sure what the conversion rates are at the moment. I only just obtained enough money to spare some. Good luck!

Thanks :)

Ok, just so you can all see just how much of the movie is completed here's a screenshot of my vegas workspace

As you can see hell of a lot of it is complete. It's just the lack of funds at the moment that is holding me back

I actually don't think anything is unrealistic about the dates I posted. I doubt Adywan disagrees with them himself.

Well yes i do disagree with the dates. All you seem to do lately is whine about how long it is taking and i'm tired of it. Do you know how much of the film is actually finished? No.So how can you possibly know it won't be ready for he May release date? I want this movie done right, not have to rush it just to get it out early to keep you happy.

Yes, there are more things i need to build to replace the original mattes etc but this costs money, a lot of money in fact. I remember you stating that you were willing to donate to the fund, in fact you said you would donate a lot more if another clip was offered. Well i offered more than that last time. I offered a whole workprint copy and an exclusive clip. But guess what:- no sign of anything from you at all. I guess you were all talk and no action. So don't start moaning again about release dates when i can't possibly fund this thing completely by myself, which is what is slowing the whole process down quite considerably. If it wasn't for the kindness of the members here, this project would have probably been scrapped by now.

Actually, Ganamae, who won the workprint, came up with a great idea on what i could offer to help generate the much needed donations. So here it is:

Anyone that donates from today will have a chance to have a cameo in ESB:R. There are a limited amount of places i can insert members, but i need to go through the whole movie to determine the exact amount. So, if there are more donations than places, another draw will take place. But its probably about 20 places to give you some idea. Plus each person that donates will get to see the behind the scenes footage a MONTH before anyone else once the footage is completed.

What about the fine molds Falcon, have you started it Ady? Are you gonna do any modifications to the kit, LED lighting etc, or will you add effects post filming, thats what I'm keen to see, have you got any way to track the camera for some smooth shots?

J

The Falcon is going to be one of the last things i build along with the new rebel hangar. Its going to have the full lighting to match the studio model and the full size set model. I'm going to be building a camera rig so i can get the smooth motion needed

I've uploaded another video this time with Ian in the picture (you don't need to tell me that some of the timing is off, but its just to see if the 'luke' works with the new footage) I mixed the audio from scratch again still using Musical Journey.... think it sounds better, sure I always say that.

Thats sounding pretty good now. I'm a long way off starting on the audio side of things but it does now seem possible to restore the "Luke Skywalker" line and return the conversation to its full original state

One things i've noticed when people have been making suggestions about the holo conversation is that some of the 2004 lines need to stay in because of what we know happened in the PT. Well You all need to eliminate the PT from your minds when making suggestions for the OT:R. I know the PT:R is a long way off but a hell of a lot of things will be changing drastically  in those films when i get to them.

Well SKY PREMIERHD have just been repeating the whole first season. Originally the first few episodes were cropped to 16:9, but now they are all at the correct 2:35:1. I'm pretty sure that the new series will be transmitted in 2:35:1 on SKY PREMIERHD. I gave up trying to watch the HD cartoon network transmission of EP1. Boy did they mess that one up

Ady....how's the edit going? What are you working on right now? Peace.....

Well, on the modelling side of things,  i've been building the skeleton for the new Wampa puppet. The jaw was a bit tricky to get a more natural movement than was in the original puppet and make it look like a real jaw bone and not something that just pops open. The facial sculpture of the Wampa is complete and the mould has been made ready for the latex to be applied.  I've made the head section so that it can be worn by a person, although they wouldn't be able to see out of it. The puppet is going to be a head and shoulders, the same as the original, but unlike the original it is also going to feature a section of the arms. When he swings at Luke in the opening shots i want the audience to be able to see the shoulder movement and part of the arm lashing out.

On the video side of things, well what i have been working on is top secret. This is going to be something that i won't be revealing until the movie is released.

That's great. Really, that sounds excellent. I hope Adywan considers using this idea.

I did try using "Luke" from this DVD but it didn't fit quite right in the correct section. When he is playing the Emperor he has a slight croak to his voice which is missing from this footage. I might play about with it again when i come to the audio, but if it doesn't work then it will stay as "young Skywalker"

The thing is though that having the Emperor say "the son of Skywalker" twice is just repetition that isn't needed. The original dialogue pre-2004 worked perfectly and that is how i want to return it, even though i have to substitute "Luke Skywalker" with "young Skywalker"

we can assume that are different rooms as we do in Executor bridge or bespin. Wise set of camera and lightning in the same set and we have our new room. Like they succed in tantive IV corridors.

You can put different graphics to the panels and you have a unique feeling.

But they are supposed to be the same room. Both scenes even have the same person sitting at same control desk

I knew I should have done what you did there. Call me lazy. Still the question remains: what the heck are they peering down at?!

well he's probably trying to look down at the screen the rebel is looking at in the first shot

Here's the shot where it looks like a couple guys are trying to look out a window in the rebel control room:

Watch it in motion, the guy with the arrow is defiantly not looking at the glass, but leaning forward to look through it and down.  The problem with putting a window there is the lighting, unless the window just happens to be in shadow in the outside shot.

The problem with putting a window there isn't just with the lighting but it is also part of the command centre that we see earlier on in the movie. So changing any part of the set would throw in a big continuity issue.

Well I know Kyle Newman the director of Fanboys is a fan of Revisited and he sent a copy to Dave Filoni...

Did you read this in an article/interview/forum thread/etc?  If so, can you provide a link?

Kyle Newman spoke about how much he liked ANH:R in an interview. He is also following me on Twitter and he has said that he is excited for ESB:R. I've also been contacted by the writer of Fanboys, Ernie Cline, who kindly sent me a copy of Fanboys along with a copy of the rough 2006 cut of the movie.

It occurs to me now that an isolated score could very easily be taken from the Ultimate Edition... sad face... lol

Would you CONSIDER a correct isolated score :-p??

yes, the isolated score was taken from the Ultimate edition.  I'm not going to do another version of the isolated score as i don't want to spend any more time on this project because of all the other things i have going on at the moment.

I've recaptured the audio but there are a few drop-outs due to disc rot that need patching up, so will take a bit of time to fix but i  will hopefully post the audio fix and full instructions by the weekend if all goes well :)

With all due respect, Ady, and apologies for what might have come across more negatively than it was intended, but I don't think you can compare where we are now to where Lucas was in 1975. I work in the industry and my ex works for Framestore, so I know as well as anyone what can or can't be done, as do many of us. I'm talking about us here on the forums, with our limited resources, make alterations to these movies. And some things can't be done with what we have now, meaning some of the mock-ups we've been doing.

And as for Lucas not having anyone to do his special effects, and him purpose-building ILM, yes, we know that story. But you make it sound like they invented visual effects, which they didn't. There wasn't a single technique used on the FX in Star Wars that was new; ILM didn't invent a single thing. I'm sure some people will gasp at me for that, but it's a fact. Not matte paintings, travelling mattes, motion control photography, animation elements (eg sabres and lasers) in live action - not one invention. The early ILM fellas, love their work as I have all my life, didn't do anything more than collate all the techniques that had been used before into one dedicated house. Yes, they revolutionised FX, but they weren't masters of invention in that period. Dykstraflex may have been developed more for Star Wars, but motion control was around for a decade before that.

Maybe I oversimplified when I said some things can't be done. I was more meaning they probably can't be done sufficiently well, given the time and money we have to devote to them. New sequences are all well and good, but match-moving is painfully difficult when you're dealing with shots that weren't intended to be FXed afterwards.

Motion control cameras may have been around before Star Wars but they couldn't do any sort of complex movement. They had to develop a whole new system for the FX in Star Wars. I didn't say that they created special effects or compare where we are now in FX capability to that of 1975 at all. I was talking about the attitute that things can't be done and that if they had had that attitude because the technology wasn't around then we wouldn't have had the level or complexity of FX that appeared in EP4

Well, I'm all for having big ideas, maybe I've been doing this long enough to know what most of us can do with our "non-professional" resources. Sure, some excellent changes can be made, Adywan proved that already, but some things suggested are just not going to happen. Being realistic shouldn't be conflated with being a killjoy, that's not my intention, I just think so much of the talent around here could/should be focused on achieving things that are feasible.

I think its a better attitute to think "how could this be done?" instead of "this can't be done" before even attempting something. yeh, sure there are things that possibly couldn't be done at the moment but who's to say what someone will come up with around the corner?

Don't forget that in 1975, when a young film-maker wanted to do his space opera there were no effects houses that were capable of putting his ideas on screen or the technology to do it. But he had the attitude of "how can this be done" and look what we got. Many of the techniques used had to be developed especially for that movie. It only takes 1 person to come up with a solution to a seemingly impossible task .
