Thanks for working on the problem guys. I might be able to access an XP computer at the library when it opens tomorrow, but I don't know how much I can do in the way of installing new programs and editing, etc. they might frown upon that sort of thing, so I'd much rather download a fixed file. Sadly it's just 2k and linux here.

well the fix will work on windows 2000 too.

Did you apply the audio fix yourself which caused the subtitle problems or did you download a copy of the DVD that the audio was already fixed and had the subtitle problems?

Nope.. didn't fix the problem for me. Used the new link you gave me, downloaded it. Tried through QuickPar and also tried another app called SuperNZB. Both report missing blocks.

I don't know what else to do.... :(

did you download all of the par2 files into the same folder as the files you downloaded? and then once quickpar has scanned it did you click repair ( if there are enough par2's to fix the broken files that is)?

OK, well i've been doing a bit of searching to try and find out why most people aren't having any problems with adding the new audio but others are. Well it looks like the problem is down to muxman. Some programs installed on pc's seem to have an undesirable effect on this program. It doesn't really like any other operating system than windows xp and can do a few strange things to the output.

I've tried several times to recreate the problem on my pc but everytime it works fine. I had the chance to try it on someone with windows 7 and i have found a solution.

when importing the subtitle files into muxman import all 4 in numerical order, but only if you are having the problems as files 21 & 23 aren't really needed. But doing this won't add any extra subtitle tracks but will enable muxman to behave on problem systems and you will have the correct subtitle tracks displayed on the reauthored file

Unfortunately it has been a waste of time and a PAL-DVD-9 is currently unavailable on the site I've found. From what I have noticed via a torr.-check is that a PAL.iso is available but incomplete. Where can I find the PAL.iso?

Here are the two different iso-sizes:

NTSC: 8.166.532 KB (8.362.528.768 Bytes)
PAL: 8.114.144 KB (8.308.883.456 Bytes)

The NTSC & PAL versions do have different file sizes due to different framerates etc. There is nothing wrong with those reported filesizes

Thanks ady, but Sony Vegas won't let me render to MPEG-II at 23.976 fps... does Vegas just prepare the Pulldown for DVD Architect or does it actually render the video as 29.7 fps? From my understanding 23.976fps+Pulldown=29.7fps ragardless, so does it make a difference?

Vegas does render in mpeg @ 23.976fps. I've done it many times. But if i were you i would render out your video as lossless avi then use an external mpeg encoder like procoder 3 to render the final video. I wouldn't touch sony's mpeg renderer with a barge pole.

I'm totally jealous IF. we haven't had a flake of snow here :(

Ady,

Your monitor is on its way, my friend. Estimated arrival date-- 7 to 10 business days from December 28th.

Translation-- somewhere between Jan 7th and Jan 12th. It is also insured against loss or damage.

Thank you so much Jacen. I can't wait to get back to this edit full time. What you have done means so much to me :)

I have a question for you Adywan. Have you looked to some of the video games for additional backgrounds or cockpits?

The graphics in video games just isn't good enough to use in the movie, i'm afraid

Sevb32 said:

Angel can we get a mock up of snow on Luke's back consistant with the earlier shot? Thanks! You always do a great job.

I don't understand why you keep pushing this? I have said i won't be doing anything with it because it just can't be done without re-filming someone doing exactly the same movements as luke does. Just too difficult to do so a mock-up would be pointless. Just because it can be done in a still image doesn't mean that it will work in a moving shot.

Was that rescue clip really full 720p?

yes, why?

It just didn't look as 720p-HD-ish as some other 720p files I have.

The bitrate was very low in the clip i posted to keep the files size down so you lose a bit of detail, but the HD transfer of the OT isn't as good as many of todays transfers from newer movies.

BTW Ady. Would did you consider adding other language subtitles? Lot's of people I know don't know English well enough to enjoy your edit. I could make Polish subtitles for you. We could find some people to make Spanish, German and French no problem I think.

I'm hoping to add some other language subtitles to it yes.

Isley said:

I actually helped Ady with french subs for ANH:R but for some reason they didn't make it to the DVD. He knows how to contact me if he wants me to do the same for with ESB:R

If you remember i couldn't use them because for some reason they just wouldn't import into DVD Architect and when i did manage to convert them so it would import them it omitted some subtitles and the sync when out pretty bad and i couldn't check all the sync because i English is my only language

Nice mock-up Jaitea. I've tried adding some atmospherics to the outside of the entrance but everything looked fake. I'm trying to find some suitable footage to use but if that fails then i will just leave it as it is

Ady can you PM me the MPEG profile you use for your final renders before importing them into DVD Architect? I'm just about done my edit and last time I couldn't get it to work. Thanks!

What are you using to render the mpeg?

Asteroid-Man said:

Hey ady, if I'm working at 23.976fps, should I convert that to 29fps using the DVD Architect MPEG-II template to just avoid pull-down all together for the final render?

No. Never do that. Add a pulldown when you are encoding

Happy New year everyone :)

No worries! When ROTJ comes out it should have Sebastian Shaw back as the ghost of Anakan.

I wonder what happened to the idea of having two audio tracks; one with Jason Wingreen's voice and one with Temuera Morrison's. My AVCHD only has one main audio track (excluding the commentary track). Whose voice is it? (I'm not very good at judging, but it sounds like Wingreen's)

EDIT: I might have got this AVCHD from torrent not newsgroups, so maybe it's missing an audio track.

No, it was only ever meant to have the 5.1 laserdisc audio track. I guess it was a bit confusing the way i wrote it on the first page so i have changed that. When i decided to recreate the 1997 SE with the original Emperor there was no way i would be able to use the 2004 mix.

Someone has done a bit of investigating already . Just got an email of someone ( i won't mention any names but you know who you are and thanks:) ). Here are some very interesting snippets direct from OCP:

I do have a list, and
here it is. I have no knowledge of "Episode 4: Revisited" - I don't
follow current Star Wars fanediting attempts.

To cover my own expenses I ask a paypal of 10 bucks
to tygerbug@****.com for each disc ... $5 extra if
overseas (for the whole package, no matter how many
you order) ... I can also throw in a free DVD of my
own films if you like.

If you like Deleted Magic, also try Building Empire and Returning
to Jedi, by British author Jambe Davdar.

My discs:

+ Star Wars: Deleted Magic: Revisited for 2009! Go behind the scenes
with this look at deleted footage and editing secrets of the original
Star Wars. "The best documentary ever made about the making of Star
Wars" - Clive Young, book Homemade Hollywood.

+ Star Wars Classic Edition 2.0 - REVISED FOR 2006! A
new DVD quality version of the original, non special
version of Star Wars. From the 2004 DVD and the OT
2006 laserdisc DVD. The only Star Wars DVD you need.
(Features a commentary track featuring the entire
cast, isolated score and THX intro.)

Dual layer available for an extra $10, printed cover
for an additional $10.

+ The Empire Strikes Back Classic Edition - A new DVD
quality version of the original, non special version
of The Empire Strikes Back. From the 2004 DVD and the
OT laserdisc. The only Empire DVD you need. (With
isolated score and Emperor scene comparison.)

Dual layer available for an extra $10, printed cover
for an additional $10.

+ Return of the Jedi Classic Edition - A new DVD
quality version of the original, non special version.
From the 2004 DVD and the OT laserdisc. The only Jedi
DVD you need. (with isolated score and four easter
eggs.)

Dual layer available for an extra $10, printed cover
for an additional $10.

wow, he is charging $30 for a DL copy of each one of these with a cover. That's $90 just for these 3 movies. How can you justify charging that much for so called costs? $10 to print the cover? and an extra $10 for a DL disc?

and then the list goes on...

the making of The Empire Strikes Back. (PAL)

Ewok commentary and Lucas interview (1-4 discs)
+ Star Wars Radio Dramas, complete

And that's just some of the discs he is selling for so called non profit. I'm so glad this guy was banned from here and i really hope that he will never be allowed back ever. Even with the postage within the USA and costs for the SL DVD's, covers etc he must be making about $5 at least profit from other peoples work.

Discs, covers, inks etc are so bloody cheap now that the cost would be nowhere near that price. I have personally never charged anyone for any costs when i have sent someone a copy of my work, even when i have sent them overseas.

I guess this is what he uses to fund his movies?

I doubt it had anything to do with OCP as this was for sale in the UK, but it does piss me off when other people profit from these edits. It didn't mention my name anywhere on the cover, but they used my cover with different text added on the back. The text almost made it look like it was an official Lucasfilm release apart from the orange cow small logo on the back where my adywan logo use to be

Ok, here's some pics of the fur:

http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/5214/peltf.th.jpg

The top image is the full hide, the second shows just how curly the fur is and the bottom shows how it looks partially straightened.

It's great fur and it moves with a great fluid movement, which artificial fur just can't replicate. The colouring is perfect also.

Now, onto the colouring of the rescue clip. I did mention in the info about the clip that Youtube bleaches out the blue and seems to lighten the image also. The facebook version is better but still isn't the correct colouring or brightness. So i decided to post the clip again, this time in H264 format so the colouring and the brightness is will be exactly the same as it actually is. You will see that the image is a lot darker and contains a lot more blue than what can be seen on youtube (which is one of the reasons i'm fed up of having clips added to youtube because it screws with the image so much). It's a .ts format so it can be stuck onto a memory stick or external hard drive and played in a PS3 or some bluray players. Don't forget, unless your monitor is calibrated then it will look different when viewed on a PC. I also noticed when seeing the pics above of Chewie that i had included the wrong version of that shot because i had a layer disabled. That was just a test sot for the tracking purpose and included a static background

LUKE'S RESCUE 720P H264

Something i forgot to mention a few weeks ago was that when i went to Memorabilia in November there was a seller with my Revisited ANH for sale as a 2 disc set. Now strangely enough the second disc was supposed to be the bonus disc and was called "Deleted Magic: Revisited" and my Adywan logo had been taken out from the cover and replaced with "Orange Cow Productions" instead. Gotta say i was pissed off and reported the guy for selling bootlegs but they didn't seem to bothered about doing anything and i didn't want to kick up a fuss because i had my daughter and her 10 year old sister with us. Now i wasn't going to bother mentioning this but then i noticed that there is now a new version of Deleted magic with "Revisited" added in the title. This got me wondering, especially with a certain ex-member of these forums being know for selling other peoples edits. Seems strange to me that it would now contain "revisited" in the title and i saw my edit being sold with this as the bonus disc. The only thing i can't figure out is why was my Adywan logo removed and replaced with "orange cow productions"? Or is that just the name of the dick-head group who are making these bootlegs to sell?

Thanks jacen for all you are doing to help me to be able to continue with this edit and thanks for letting me know about the shipping :). I didn't realise just how lost i would be without a HD monitor. It's a nightmare doing anything with this tiny screen, which my daughter is having back off me tomorrow :(

Okay, another problem.

I got the AC3 file to work perfectly (and it sounds much better even on my computer than the old one), but I must have screwed up the subtitles in there. I followed the directions EXACTLY as posted in the RAR file, and I ended up with "English 1" being forced subs, but for the entire movie, not just Watto's Huttese dialogue. "English 2" is an empty subtitle track with nothing at all in it.

Which 2 from the demux should I use? Which one is the Huttese subs (that are meant to be forced), and which one is the non-forced English subs for the whole movie?

In your Demuxed folder " Subpictures_20.sup" are the subtitles for Hutteese only and should be placed as track 1 and forced. The full English subtitles are named "Subpictures_22.sup"

Hope this helps

Well looking at the specs of the monitor its says...

AC 120/230 V AC 100/240 V

does that mean it can take both power systems? I know my gateway monitor came with a US plug as well as the UK version. If it can use both voltage systems then this would be perfect. Does it say anything about the voltage on the monitor at all?

Also, on the back of the monitor does it say which revision number it is?

Jacen, that monitor would be awesome. Huge thanks .I certainly don't think 24" is too big and that is definitely the resolution that i would need to get :) One question though, does it have internal power or does it have an external power pack? I'm just wondering if the power difference between the US and UK could be a major problem. What model number is it?

well i rang gateway myself just to make sure if it wasn't the shop trying to fob me off and they told me the same thing. because i didn't fill in the warranty card and send it to them ( which i didn't have) then they cannot repair the monitor under the guarantee as its 18 months old and i would have to pay for repair. trading standards also told me that gateway are quite within their rights not to repair the monitor if i hadn't send them a fully filled out guarantee card :(

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Just as i think things are getting better i've had a pretty crappy couple of days. For about a week or so my monitor would suddenly go into standby mode while i was working on it and i couldn't turn it back on unless i turned it off at the socket and waited about 20 minutes and then it would come on again fine. Got to admit that i wasn't too bothered as the monitor came with a 3 year guarantee so if it went tits up i can take it back. Well its 18 months old now and that seems to be the lifespan of a lot of things nowadays. Well yesterday, while i was working on the edit there was a nice pop and a trickle of smoke coming out of the monitor. R.I.P. Gateway monitor. Well, like i said i wasn't too bothered. Well the store where i purchased it from is about a minutes walk away from me. So off i went, with the monitor and all its original packaging and the receipt to the store to get this thing either repaired or swapped. What a waste of time. Firstly they told me that it was only guaranteed for a year, even though when they sold it me it was advertised as three. I showed them the receipt and it stated 1 year warranty + extra cover 3. The they said that it was only 3 months extra warranty and not a 3 year guarantee, which was total bollox as i wouldn't have paid the price i did for a monitor that only had 1 year cover plus 3 extra measly months. I don't know anywhere that would ever offer just 3 extra months. I argued my case a lot then one of the staff came over and said that it was gateway that were offering the 3 year guarantee and not them. At last a result and someone that knows what they are talking about. They offered to ring up gateway to arrange a collection or swap for a different model so everything was sorted....

or so i thought....

The guy came back and asked for my full details and the receipt, then went back to talk to the people at gateway. A few minutes later he returned and said that they had no record of an warranty in my name. He asked me if i had filled in the warranty card and returned it to Gateway but i never had a warranty card with the monitor as i was told when purchasing that the receipt was my guarantee. They then said that the warranty card would have been given to me or that it would have been in the monitor box. Well i still had all the manuals & paperwork still in the box and there was no warranty. He said that there was nothing they could do but he would give gateway a ring again to see if there was anything he could do. But he came back and they refused to do anything.

So there you go. Don't buy anything made by gateway as they will just rip you off if anything goes wrong. Their attitude is just "computer says NO" (little Britain fans will get that one. lol) Admittedly the one guy at the shop did try his best and did try to figure out a way to get them to honour the warranty so i'm not pissed at the shop.

But with everything that gone on recently i almost feel like giving up ( but i know i won't). I've borrowed my daughters portable DVD player that has a video input and using the TV output on my pc i have a very vice 600 x 400 desktop which i can't do bugger all on. MY god, how the hell did we do anything on computers when all monitors were that resolution?

The couple of donations i received the other day i already spent on getting some styrene and a few lights towards build the 1 metre stardestroyer. Yes i will be building that for this edit instead of waiting for ROTJ:R because, after trying to replace many of the stardestroyers that needed to go, i decided that it wasn't worth building a small one when i would have to build a large scale one for ROTJ:R that i could use for every shot needed.

So now i have no monitor and its going to be about february next year before i'll have any money towards it. And before anyone says it, yes i have backed up all the files for the edit. I make a backup every week, including a backup of the backup just in case, so if a hard drive dies then i'm covered.

I guess a lot of the hardware problems are due to the lifespan just coming to an end. after all they say the lifespan of something nowadays is 5 years and that is based on a use of only a few hours per day. When you consider that this PC is usually on 24/7 its not surprising really

so, yes, you can say i'm gutted :(
