THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
If there's one thing I've learned about Bizzle over the past 3-4 years, it's that he never pulls any punches and he rarely sugar coats anything. That combined with a keen eye and ear makes a great judge for a contest like this. I personally don't see anything wrong with any of his comments on the edits. He's honest and he gives his opinion like a judge is supposed to do. If you don't like what he has to say, get in line because you're definitely not the first. I think all too often in the fan editing world we're prone to giving people kudos for doing something while we ignore it's quality or it's impact on the film. People like Bizz remind us that not everything deserves a pat on the back and there's plenty of room for improvement.

Dayv has asked me to be a judge in next year's contest. I was almost afraid to say yes because of the negative opinions I have on some of the fan edits I've seen. But the only way to raise the bar is to point out our flaws and strive to make things better. Critisism is just as important (if not more important) than praise.

It is only used as an example, seeing as it is both letterbox and PCM. It's also still one of the best letterbox transfers to date.

Moth3r, I got that logo from Rikter if I'm not mistaken. Is it not a real logo?

I can see what your saying, though I wouldn't want to add a second logo for audio. But doesn't the PCM audio come from Dolby anyway? Or at least created with Dolby equipment? It is surround encoded after all.

(Waits for Neil to chime in)

I made a few changes to the template today and I'm calling it done for now. The screenshots above have been updated. As you can see, I have added an extras template as well.

You can download the PSD file here. (31MB)
Note: This is a Photoshop CS2 file, 1393x1393 @ 300dpi. You may have trouble opening the file in earlier versions of Photoshop.

Enjoy.

Yeah, I'm not printing up covers and storing my DVDs in cases, so these logos tell me what's what as I flip through my 300-disc zip wallet. If you like these, you can download the psd file I'll be upping and hide the logos.
