And now for what I quoted from your "speech": what is this "you want" crap? So you know the people here? I know you are BIG in accusations, BIG in lies and even BIGER in assumptions, you have proven taht before, but hey, that is no excuse for treating people like shit, and this happens. You must know, what you do, but I would finally consider playing nice. Or you can just go on and maybe someone will believe you guys are superior to them, so you can continue treating them badly for speaking their minds. Soon no one here will do it anymore.
I couldn't resist posting this. And now feed me to the wolves again. ..or maybe I just spammed this forum to make the next rank.
All you wanted was to be treated with respect and to not be censored? All we wanted was the EXACT same thing. But you had to go behind our backs and treat your new site like it was some big secret that you didn't want Jay to find out about. Is it so hard to believe that people like you are MAKING us upset? Yeah, we were over this, and it was done. But you know what? Things don't just go away like we all wish they would. They have a tendancy stick in people's minds and make them do things they normally wouldn't. That's why people are being way too sensetive about things lately. Just like the other day when Shim posted the same question in three different forums here. I found his answer in about 2 minutes and gave it to him in a somewhat annoyed tone and asked him not to post the same thing in three forums like that again. No big deal, end of story. But all of a sudden I'm hated for it like I have it out for people now or something. Like I've suddenly "gone off the deep end". Three months ago, I would have handled that the exact same way and there wouldn't have been much fuss about it. Everyone who's made a sudden decision to leave this place over something like that already had it in their heads that they wanted to leave this place. They just needed something tangible to blame for their departure.Zion: I hate to say it, but for all the bitching you guys are doing, you don't want to hear any flak about it do you? There's no way that after all the time you guys have spent spammig up this board and posting nonsense to make that next rank, that you'd throw it all away just because of one post. No, it is much deeper than that isn't it? You WANT to leave this place because you've made yourselves believe that we hate you. You WANT an excuse to leave because you don't want anyone bitching at YOU the way you've been bitching about everything else. Jay said "cock and balls!!" OH GOD!!! I can't take it anymore! I'm leaving!!! Yeah, whatever. Go ahead and keep talking on your new board about how much better you are than everybody else. You didn't do anything at all, did you?

You want something tangible? Jay's showing you the door. If you want to leave, go ahead. But know that this community's recent turmoil started because of the founders of that site. It continues to exist because of the way this site is perceived by the community of that site. OT.com will continue on in the same direction it has been going for the last two years - with a tight-knit community of fan editors and preservationists that is not found anywhere else on the net.

Ah, so now we play the "favorites" card do we? It always amazes me how a group of people will start to place blame and make themselves believe that they're being oppressed or something when things like this happen. A couple threads get locked and all of a sudden the mods are "fucking forum nazis" and nothing they do will ever be right. Yeah, of course we play favorites because we like some people here and not others. Like we have some list of people we hate and we won't stop until they're all banned or gone from this forum.
Give me a freakin break. All this animosity is in your heads. You think what Jay said was uncalled for? Aren't we forgetting something????

So certain people take it upon themselves to create an anarchy on these boards, you side with them and start bashing this site along with them, and all of a sudden it's "uncalled for" when we say something back? Yep, makes perfect sense doesn't it?

Sheep always follow their leader blindly. If you're going to do something as drastic as leave a community you've been a part of for years, make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. Don't do it because "a very good source" put something in your ear to try and make you believe something that isn't true.

If they committed to the menus - imagine what they committed to making sure the DVD bought out every detail on their master tape? Wow, that is pretty cool. At least they're doing some work with this. Even if it is just the menu, it makes me feel a little bit better.
Well, it doesn't look like they spent much more than a few hours making these static menus. A day at most. So...

Oh, I see. So I guess it was your duty to hack and troll their board. I guess it had to be done. Just like the US should nuke countries like Iran and North Korea because we don't agree with them, right?
Seriously though, if you're going to do that kind of stuff elsewhere, don't brag about it here. Trolling boards is not cool no matter where you do it.

Furthermore, I had no idea what a "McGuffin" was, so I looked it up:
Main Entry: McGuffin
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: in film, a plot device that has no specific meaning or purpose other than to advance the story; any situation that motivates the action of a film either artificially or substantively; also written MacGuffin
Etymology: Alfred Hitchcock's term, based on a story where this device was used in a story set on a Scottish train

So it sounds like they're basically going to take a previously unimportant plot point from one of the first three films and make that the premise of Indy 4.

OCP's Classic Edition was a project done with a great intent in mind, but the end result was less than desirable in my opinion. The incorporated LD footage is not utilized very well, as it is laden with chroma noise and not color corrected to match the DVD footage. The other major problem is that video wasn't re-encoded very well. If you compare it to the official DVD, the difference is night and day. True, the classic editions were only single layer, but compressing the DVD footage shouldn't have that much of a quality loss. I'm sure if OCP ever finishes his "new" classic edition project, his results will be much better than the first.
As for what is the best out there, my personal favorites are the preservations from Citizen and Moth3r (and Doctor M's NTSC conversions of Moth3r's PAL-only releases). These two projects are the newest LD preservations and they are very well done. Moth3r's has more detail, but Citizen's is a little better in the color and noise departments.
As far as the new DVDs, they will be slightly better quality than the two I mentioned above, only because the source Lucasfilm is working from is the LD digital master tapes, not the LDs themselves. What you will see is more detail and a lot less noise in the video, but at the same time they will not be anything close to the detail and resolution of the SE DVDs.
Check out the Official Screenshots Thread pinned at the top of the forum for a comparison of most of the popular transfers.

Starting Next Week: Celebrate the Original Star Wars
August 18, 2006
September 12 is right around the corner -- it's the date that the Star Wars trilogy DVDs will be available as individual movies, each one packed with a bonus disc containing the original unaltered theatrical version of the classic film.
It's also the date that LucasArts releases LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy videogame, the fun follow-up that combines the classic Star Wars story with the imaginative building power of LEGO.
In anticipation of these releases, starwars.com is turning back the clock to focus on the original theatrical releases of the three classic Star Wars movies, with informative features that will help set the stage for these historic films. Read about what life was like in 1977, 1980, and 1983, and get ready for inside looks on the DVDs themselves.
It kicks off next week with coverage devoted to 1977's Star Wars, before it was known as A New Hope, and continues the following weeks with Empire and Jedi. Look also for continued coverage of the LEGO Star Wars II game, including drawing activities that will help fans of any age realize their favorite heroes and villains as LEGO characters.
Next week also starts the Star Wars Summer Road Trip! As reported previously, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Wicket are hitting the road, traveling to a dozen cities across the U.S., beginning with Miami. Is your city on the list? Your snapshots that best capture the spirit of these characters and the saga may win you a trip for four to Star Wars Celebration IV. Read here for more details, and start submitting your photos next week!
