RIP Denver Broncos Cornerback Darrent Williams
Time
The police aren't saying how close they are to finding the killer. The paper this morning is reporting that there are many leads based on several witnesses who were at the party and surveilance cameras, but they haven't reported on the details. There were apparently several Denver Broncos players at the party including Javon Walker and Brandon Marshall. There were also several Nuggets players there including K-Mart Kenyon Martin, who the party was thrown for. None of the players have come forward to say anything yet either, but I'm sure Marshall and Walker know what happened.

RIP Denver Broncos Cornerback Darrent Williams
Time
I'm sure you guys have heard about this already, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject as I was only a few miles away when the tragic event happened.

DENVER (Jan. 1, 2007) -- Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed early Jan. 1 when his white stretch Hummer was sprayed by bullets after a nightclub dispute following a New Year's Eve party. Police have no motive and no indication the 24-year-old player was targeted in the drive-by shooting of the limousine.

It has been all over the news here in Denver ever since the early morning hours of January 1st. You can't turn on a local TV channel, radio station, or open a paper without reading about it and the way it's affected people here in Colorado.

These were my thoughts on the subject as of last night:

My mom called me at work on Saturday and asked me if I was interested in going to the Bronco game on New Year's Eve. The only catch was I had to drive to Silverthorne to get the tickets from my uncle who had won them in a raffle. Sunday morning, I got up early and drove an hour east of Denver to meet my uncle who had also driven an hour from Steamboat to deliver the tickets. I couldn't thank him enough for giving them up and driving down to meet me. A few minutes later, I was off back to Denver to pick up my brothers and get to the game. A few miles east of Idaho Springs, I nearly joined a car that was spun out in the median as I hit a patch of icy snow going about 75 and lost control of my car. My windshield was dirty as I rounded a turn and I didn't see the snow until it was too late. Thankfully, my instincts took over and instead of slamming on my breaks, I eased off the gas and tried to ease out of the snow. A second later, my tires hit asphalt and my car darted into the lane to my right, nearly hitting the SUV next to me. That was probably the scariest thing that's happened to me since I was in high school, but I shrugged it off and got home safely. Little did I know that something much worse was going to happen in the next few hours.

I picked up my brothers and we drove to the park-n-ride to take the bus to the stadium. The bus dropped us off right in front of the staduim and as we began walking toward the gate, we saw two limos parked on out left in a roped off area. One was a cool looking black SUV-type stretch, and the other was a now-infamous white stretch Hummer.

The game was probably the most dissapointing sports event I've ever attended. Not only was it freezing as soon as the sun went down, but the Broncos played horrible for most of the game. We had great seats though: east corner of the endzone on the south side, field level, 16 rows from the front. I watched Jake Plummer throw a bomb to two waiting defenders, watched Champ Bailey complete one of the easiest pick-6's he's ever had, and right in front of me I saw Darrent Williams nearly pick off a pass in the endzone.

When the ball went through the uprights in overtime, the place fell silent and 70,000 dissapointed fans immediately headed toward the exits. Coming down the stairs outside, I again walked right past that white limo and thought to myself, "man, I wish this was our ride home".

I was so tired when we got back to my mom's place, I barely made it past midnight and fell asleep on the couch watching my brothers play Wii. My dad woke me up around nine as he ran down the stairs and turned on the news. My eyes opened wide as I saw the video footage of that familiar white Hummer limo with bullet holes in it surrounded by police. I could hardly believe the news as I heard the reporter say that Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams had been shot and killed in a drive-by shooting around 2:30 in the morning.

According to reports I saw throughout the day, the limo had just left a party downtown. There were 14 people in the limo including D-Will and Javon Walker who had a heated argument at the party before they left. Out of all those people, only three were shot including Darrent who died in the arms of Javon Walker. I'd be lying if I said the news hasn't brought tears to my eyes.

Darrent Williams was in his second season with the Broncos. He was known for his warm personality and contagious smile. He was loved by everyone in the Broncos organization and was on the brink of being a great cornerback opposite Champ Bailey. Champ was even quoted as saying that Darrent was better than he was at that age. Darrent was one of my favorite players because he was such an underdog and his immediate success in the NFL was so unexpected. The guy stood 5'8", easily the shortest player on the Broncos. And for a guy who covered receivers who were a good foot taller, he could hold his own and always welcomed the challenge.

I remember seeing him in training camp last August. He was so spirited and never seemed to wipe the smile off his face even while giving up passes to guys like Rod Smith and Javon Walker. Darrent and rookie Elvis Dumerville, another guy said to be too small to play his position, became two of my favorite Bronco players and I cheered for them all season as they both had their share of great plays.

Darrent Williams wore #27 for the Broncos. Ironically, I wore my #27 Steve Atwater jersey to the game. Darrent played in a total of 27 games as a pro football player. He died at the age of 24. His mentor, Champ Bailey, who he so effectively emulated on the field, wore the number 24.

A local Denver band, Five Iron Frenzy, wrote a satirical song about their trumpet player Brad a few years back. But the lyrics ring out in my mind as I think about the tragedy that happened last night.

"Only the good die young, they say.
The details of his death are vague
unbelievable it seems,
as if his passing was only a dream.
Catastrophe, calamity,
what will we tell his mother now?
Cataclysmic, a tragic mishap....

A day that lives in infamy,
in horror we behold, his passing,
his memory, but the truth must be told."

Rest in peace, D-Will. You will be missed, and you will never be forgotten.

May those responsible be brought to justice.

Dominoes or Pizza Hut?
Time
Hardees was it's own restaurant until Carl's Jr. bought them out somewhere in the 90's. They're not exactly the same though. When I was in Montana there was a Hardees open 24 hours, but it had some stuff you don't see at Carl's, like real ice cream. The CJ's here in Denver don't have exactly the same menu and have those famous "six dollar burgers".

Dominoes or Pizza Hut?
Time
I went to a couple Pizza Huts in Korea when I was stationed there. Same taste, but they had some pizzas you'd never see in the States. One pizza had sweet potatoes around the edge of the crust or something crazy like that.

Ah, right. A Colorado man. I recall from the 2005 Tecmo Playoffs that the Broncos are your team. Well, I'm supposed to fly into Denver tomorrow evening. Hopefully all is clear by then. They say they'll reopen at noon Friday, so we'll see.</off topic>
Yeah, Colorado is pretty crazy right now. People are stranded at the airport and hardly anyone is driving on the roads. Looks like the worst is over though and flights might resume even before tomarrow at noon.

Favorite Nintendo Game
Time
My firm belief is that Ocarina of Time is the best game ever. Outstanding storyline, great gameplay (and the Master Quest on GameCube is even better). I liked the gameplay better on Majora's Mask though, but overall I didn't think the game was as good.

I'm starting to like Twilight Princess better than both of them. It mixes elements from Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, and I'm liking the story so far as well. I'm about 35 hours into the game and I'd like to think I'm at least halfway finished.

Besides Zelda, I always thought that Goldeneye was one of the best Nintendo games ever. I used to play the hell out of that game when it first came out. I don't think I could go back and play it anymore though, as I simply refuse to play FPS's with a controller anymore. After playing Unreal Tournament with a mouse and keyboard nonstop for about a year, I could never go back to the controller. I can't play Halo on XBox either.

"Banning of OCPMovie"
Time
It's no secret on these boards that a while back, I
criticized a certain project of Zion's, and was banned
for it shortly after - ridiculously immature behavior
by a mod. Can you imagine if I would BAN anyone who
criticized one of my edits? Ye gods. I would be a
spoiled child.

Zion has wanted to ban me permanently ever since, and
he's gotten his wish, as he feels these allegations
give him the right to edit and close any and all of my
threads and throw me out.

I am making this personal in that regard, as there was
certainly no reason to close my OCPmovie Megathread
over unrelated allegations true and false.

The mods have gone back and rewritten many, many, many
of my old posts to remove information.

I have been witchhunted and banned from these boards,
and for what?

For what purpose?

What I really can't understand is how this guy can go about his daily life pretending such nonsense is true. His arrogance is incredible.

#1, ocp was banned originally because of his childish behavior and reediting content back into posts that had been edited by mods. (And by childish I mean his mini-crusade of spam and trolling throughout half a dozen threads about how laserdisc was obsolete.) I banned him, yes, but it was in the agreement of Jay, Moth3r, and myself to do so, which is exactly the same thing with his banning now.

#2, Ah the "allegations". If you hadn't noticed ocp, I was actually giving you a pass at first because I thought you were just trying to sell your SWCE 2.0 to make some money for your move. I figured no big deal, just a warning and we'll leave it at that. But after we started getting more complaints about your selling habits, a bomb drops. I get a pm from someone with a copy of one of your emails regarding an inquiry for SWCE 2.0. As it turns out, not only was ocp selling his new DVD, but he's selling pretty much everything he has in his collection (including other fan edits and preservations from people like Moth3r, Wookie Groomer, Doctor M, Rikter, and dark_jedi among many others) for $10 each, $20 if it's dual layer, and an extra $10 for printed covers. Not only did ocp deny that he was doing this, but continues to act like this is only covering his costs. Give me a break dude. Blank DVDs are well under a dollar, and well under 2 dollars for dual layer. If you're trying to recover for your inability to burn media correctly, you still shouldn't be passing the financial burden onto everyone else. Like I said in the "megathread", I burn both single and dual layer DVDs all the time and I've only had about 2 bad burns in the last two years.

#3, this apparent foul vendetta I have against ocp is ridiculous. Sure, it's easy to just assume I hate the guy because he says bad things about myself and the X0 Project. Sure, it's easy to look at when he was banned and assume I'm trying to get rid of an X0 "competitor". The truth is I really don't hate anyone on this board. I'm really a pretty easy going guy and I could care less what anyone says about me, about my releases, or about the X0 Project. (And if you really must know, I'm an aspiring film student myself, one step away from being homeless as well, have about $200 to my name, and I'm waiting for my damn GI Bill money to come in so I can live past December. We all have hardships dude, it's called life.)

If you want to believe the X0 Project is just some kind of "publicity stunt" and it's never going to be released you go ahead and do that (the thousands of donated dollars we've received and endless media attention we're getting are great btw). If I was really trying to gain some notoriety from my releases, don't you think I would at least talk about them on this site? See, you didn't even know I did other stuff besides Star Wars, did ya? As for the X0, just wait and see what we've been able to do with the so-called crappy and obsolete laserdisc transfers.

Reminder: No profiting from fan edits or preservation efforts
Time
In light of a certain person who has been found to be violating this rule, I just want to remind everyone that selling your stuff (or anyone else's stuff) for profit is not cool and you will be banned. We are not interested in seeing this place become a hub of illegal selling and profiting. If you contact another person on this board and they ask for more than the price of a blank disc and postage for a preservation or fan edit, tell them thanks but no thanks and let a mod know. There are countless people on this site who are willing and able to trade with you or even send you what you want for nothing at all.

So to review:

If you are found selling your own fan edits or preservations you will be banned.

If you are found selling anyone else's fan edits or preservations you will be banned.

If you are found selling bootleg copies of copyrighted material you will be banned.

I hope that's clear enough.

** The OCPMovie News & Releases Megathread **
Time
It has come to our attention that ocpmovie has been selling his DVDs for profit for quite a while. Initially, we thought that this was only a one-time thing. However, we've learned that he's been doing this for a long time. And not only is he selling his stuff, but also other people's stuff including just about every preservation and fan edit on this board as well as countless copyrighted DVDs. A few people have commented to me that they're surprised we didn't know about this already.

Let this put to rest any sort of rumor that the rules do not apply to certain people. If you are breaking the rules and we find out about it, you're gone. End of story.

The Most Needlessly Melodramticly-titled Thread Ever
Time
You know for a lurker, you seem to know an awful lot about what's going on. I might even be so bold as to say you're a disgruntled ex-forum member who can't help but keep coming back to this place, especially when your good buddy's goodbye thread seems like it needs a "fresh perspective". So why not post the same crap you've been talking about on the other board for three months again and pretend you're an anonymous third party? Am I right? Of course I'm right.

Look Warbler, if you want to chime in why can't you just do it with your own damn screename instead of pretending to be someone else. Bad form.
