What the fuck??? : George is definitely gone "bye bye"
Time
Damn. Kershner was here visiting my school a couple weeks ago and during the Q&A people couldn't stop asking about Empire and being Lucas' instructor at USC. I can't believe Lucas would seriously say it was the worst film. Either he was joking or he has some sort of authority figure/mentor issue.

Again, I LOVE ESB.... no complaining here or anything like that....

but, if you were to show that flick to someone who has no idea what SW is... who has never seen the ANH... they'd be completly lost and going "Whaa?" every 2 minutes. Imagine the Wampa cave with no prior knowledge.... how the hell is he making that thing fly into his hand... then who is this ghost? You can go on and on...
Then again, you're not going to ask that person which was the worst Star Wars movie if they haven't seen any others. Then again, maybe you will just because the only answer they can give is ESB because it's the only one they know about.

The Super Bowl
Time
If Bears fans weren't crying enough for a better quarterback, they'll be calling for Rex's head on a platter all throughout the offseason. Grossman really stunk the place up on Sunday. Good job Peyton, you didn't have to be great and you still won the game. I think your RB's should have shared the MVP honor though. They were the real reason you won the game.

"Archiving seminar reveals 'Star Wars' tidbit?" Another SE?!
Time
We've pretty much known this for a few years now. There were rumors that Lucas shot extra scenes of Palpy, Bail, and Mon Mothma during the production of ROTS. The fact that the LFL spokesman says there are no plans for a new version release just means that there is no official announcement for it yet. Could this be what brings people to the theater for the 3D release? Or will it be an incentive to buy the box set....

This is exactly why I bought my 50" DLP and satellite service. Watching a game like this in HD and 5.1 surround is about as good as it gets.

I think both teams have the ability to shut down the other and win convincingly. It will depend on whatever tone is set in the first quarter I think. If the Bears D comes out and gets to Manning early, I think it'll be over. If Rex comes out and throws a couple picks and a fumble or two like in that Green Bay game, forget about it.

In my mind though, Peyton Manning is still the modern-day Dan Marino: Stats better than anyone else in history, yet a perennial loser of the big game. This is his chance to prove people wrong.

Windows Vista
Time
For what it's worth. I've been testing out Vista Ultimate on my P4 machine and it's working fine so far. I had some discrepancies with explorer not wanting to preview video files with different codecs, but other than that nothing to complain about. I think the interface with the transparent windows is pretty cool.

That being said, my next computer will be a Mac Pro. Being in film school and majoring in post production, I need the ability to run software like Final Cut Studio at home. Of course, my decision was much easier knowing that you can now boot into Windows on a Mac as well. I won't have to give up PC software like AviSynth, VirtualDubMod, and the wealth of other open-source multimedia software I've come to know and love over the last few years.

I have to agree with you Jay, those Mac towers are a thing of absolute beauty - inside and out.

Info Wanted: How's the XO project coming?
Time
I've been a little distant lately. There are so many things I've wanted to do with the X0 project in the last few months, and unfortunately I haven't been able to put much time into them. I just moved and I've had some money issues, some health issues, and some other stuff I won't get into here. It's good to know people haven't forgotten about us. Thanks for the support.

Good capture card?
Time
I could be wrong, but I think it depends more on the software than the hardware. If the capturing program you use works in the 64-bit environment, you should be fine. Check to see if programs like DScaler, VirtualDub, and Virtual VCR have 64-bit versions as those three programs are probably the best capturing programs out there.

DVD burner problems
Time
My old Sony burner started doing that a few months back, but since I have a new BenQ DL burner, I haven't really tried to get it fixed. At first thought, you might try and see if doing a lens cleaning with one of those cleaning discs helps at all. If not, you might just have to take it in and get it fixed, but buying a new one might be cheaper...
