The Visual Effects Society Unveils “50 Most Influential Visual Effects Films of All Time”

No doubt. But I think he was referring to T1, not T2.

TPM did a lot more than just build on the work of T2. Things like the texture modeling and clothing animation they did for the CG characters were new concepts for a live-action film. And VFX supervisor John Knoll was quoted as saying he had no idea how they were going to do a lot of the shots in the film when they started pre-production.

I guess in the end all I'm saying is that TPM is much more deserving of being on that list than ROTJ.

Celebration IV

The order is supposed to be ready on Monday. Just in time for me to pick them up and bring a few with me when I fly out to L.A. the next day. I will have some for sale at C4 for those who can track me down. I will have a page set up on the web site for online sales, either this weekend if I get to it, or the weekend after next when I get back.

I like seeing POTC 2 on that list. Davey Jones was incredible. But I really think Star Wars Episode I should be there, as Jar-Jar's animation was pretty groundbreaking for 90's special effects work, and you know, him being the first CG main character in a live-action movie. (Forget how annoying he was.) Somebody should count how many films on that list were done by ILM.

LOST

Not sure exactly where this is going, but it's leading up to something cool. It almost seems like everyone is against Ben at this point. Can't wait to see how that develops. Charlie finding more hatch people underwater was an interesting twist as well. My guess is the "long-absent regular" who returns will be either Michael or Eko.

Hello I'm new and have a question. (re StarWars.com and its message boards)
Time
I posted on the SW.com boards once. It was actually the first day of their existence and people were trying to see how much they could get away with as there was only like one or two mods, including Ghent IIRC. All I really remember was Chyren spamming up the place and people testing out which words could slip past the word filter. Ah, fun times.

I don't think I've been back since that day.

It's not really proof of anything, that's why people are asking for something more.

I still don't think some of you understand what it takes to coordinate a project like this between multiple people who aren't working in the same room.

Originally when we kicked things off with the project, we were going to clean up the DC source capture, color correct it, and call it a day. Some of our research led us to attempt incorporating SC footage to replace shots with hideously obvious ghosting trails left behind by the DC's THX cleanup process. All the while we were researching any and all methods that might improve laserdisc footage - everything from capturing to post processing. Then Laserman dropped a bomb on us with his Black Magic process. What we've shown you in the most recent screenshots is the result of his work with our X0-captured LD material.

Trust me, you will begin to see video clips of the finished product. But until Laserman comes back I don't have much I can show you because he hasn't sent me much of his BM stuff. What I have on my hard drives are cleaned up DC and SC captures, color corrected footage, and preliminary merged DC and SC footage that eliminates the ghosting and improves overall image quality. What I am preparing for the web site is to show how the whole process works. However, without L's BM processed footage, you cannot fully appreciate any of this.

I guess I missed the part where we were going door to door begging for money.

There's a link for donations on the web site, yes. But the last time we actually posted here asking people for cash was more than a year ago when hard drives had died and funds became scarce.

All I'm saying is we're going to go about our project the way we see fit. I know what you're saying, you want to see what we have and you want it now or else your off the boat. I'm sorry to tell you that between myself and Laserman who is MIA at the moment, I can't give you everything you want. Please bear with us.
