Not exactly. The way I understood it, the software is actually a proprietary application that uses Shake for all the processing. It's not just a piece of equipment with Shake installed on it. (You might be thinking of Blackmagic Design, who make a lot of video hardware, but that is not the same thing.)

Arnie, you are also thinking of something completely different.

And I'm sorry but there is no update on Laserman. We still have not heard from him.

5-25-77 Documentary
Time
They showed the entire movie at C4. It was the latest rough cut with unfinished special effects, but complete for the most part. I really enjoyed it.

Basically, the movie is about a high school kid from a small town in Illinois who gets the chance of a lifetime when he flies out to Hollywood to meet the special effects supervisor from the movie 2001. When he gets there, the guy isn't available but he ends up on the set of Close Encounters and gets to meet the then-unknown Steven Spielberg. (The actor playing the young Spielberg is such a great look-a-like btw.) He then gets to tour ILM and, as luck would have it, happens to be there to see a preview of an unfinished version of Star Wars (no soundtrack, no special effects). He goes back to school and tries to get all his friends to go see Star Wars on opening day.

Overall I thought the movie was very entertaining. It's not so much about Star Wars as it is about a young aspiring filmmaker whose perspective on life changed after seeing a weird sci-fi movie. The film is based on the true story of Patrick Read Johnson (writer/director) who saw the rough cut of Star Wars and ended up moving out to California and joining ILM as a model maker after he graduated high school.

It was kind of fitting to see this movie at C4 in its unfinished form, as Johnson pointed out at the panel. I don't think anyone expected they would be showing the whole movie either. It was a welcome surprise.

SFX supervisor Mike Pawlak posted on IMDB that, "'5-25-77' is still in post production with visual effects and final sound mixing being worked on....A release later this year is planned."

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the theater when it's finally released.

EDIT: Check out the trailer on YouTube.

We have not heard from Laserman since I last posted about the email he sent us. We have no idea what's going on with him right now, but if he hasn't contacted us or posted here, it's a safe bet that he's still in the hospital recovering.

One of the things I'd like to remind people is that when we initially set out to do this project, all we wanted to do was clean up the laserdisc footage captured from the best player ever made. Now, that is merely a step of the entire process in which Laserman is the only one at the moment who has seen the end of, aside from the screenshots he has shared with MeBe, myself, and the other X0 Team members. The clips you guys want to see of our finished project are things we cannot give you at the moment. If you want to blame someone for lack of updates and outright unwillingness to give you what you want and renew your faith in this project, tell it to the guy who's been in the hospital for the past two months and has been battling a terminal illness for years. MeBe and I have every intention of helping Laserman and the X0 Project see completion, but at the moment I don't have anything new I can show you.

My plan over the last several months has been to purchase a new workstation so that I could help Laserman with the black magic process and finish our work on ANH. Unfortunately, being that I'm a college student, I've been having problems getting the funds for my new Mac Pro and as of yet am still waiting for my loan to get approved. The plan was that once I had the new computer, I would be able to help him finish the final (and most crucial) step of our preservation. Unfortunately, matters of higher precedence have been pushed to the forefront and we're much more concerned about Laserman's health than we are this project. We, just like many of you, eagerly await news on his condition.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
So sorry to hear about your computer woes adywan. I had a hard drive crap out on me recently as well. Thankfully nothing very important was on it. I also had a Premiere project file become corrupt a few weeks ago which won't even open anymore. It was my final film project last semester, though thankfully I had already turned it in.

Losing an entire drive and having to buy a new one is horrible. Even worse, losing files you poured hours and hours of your time into is extremely heartbreaking. I'm more than broke at the moment, but I will help you out when my student loan money comes in at the end of next week.

My other thought was that maybe the island escapees were trying to keep a low profile and didn't attend the funeral as to not attract attention to themselves. That's the vibe I got when Jack asks Kate if she went and she says "why would I?" That could also be a reason why they met in such an isolated location. Maybe Jack is famous for being the "hero" and getting people off the island, but perhaps people like Kate and whoever else got off the island do not want to make themselves known. (Kate especially I guess, since she, you know, killed someone).

OK I can finally read this thread and reply now that I watched the finale last night.

Wow! Lots of things I didn't expect to happen. Most everyone seems to have turned on Ben. Charlie dead. The Others get blown away at the beach. Jack & Kate in the future. Danielle and Alex reunite. Ben gets the piss beat out of him. Very cool ending.

Charlie's death was sad, but I just kept wondering why he didn't try climbing out the broken window hole and swimming to the surface. I thought about who might be in the coffin. It'd have to be someone without a lot of family/friends aside from the rest of the island crew. Maybe Locke or Sawyer, or maybe one of the Others like Ben or Richard.

The flash-forwards are going to be cool if they continue in the next season. I was wondering when they were going to run out of backstory to tell about the main characters. Now trying to figure out what they mean and if it has anything to do with Desmond's ability will be fun to watch unfold.

Seeing Walt again was kind of cool, and I expected something like that was going to happen to Locke. I imagined either Jacob himself coming to help him, or perhaps the monster, or some other vision of another person like Boone or Walt. I hope they get back to what happened with Walt and Michael soon too.

Yes. Aside from two Star Wars conventions in two different continents.

Watch the clone wars trailer. Though seeing it on the web doesn't really do it justice. Seeing it here at the con on the big screen and incredible surround sound (twice!) was a real treat.
