Paint Wars: A New Hope
Time
Oh what's the use? I was just bored out of my mind when I started Paint Wars, and I had brought a terrible undertaking upon myself. So I quit. Forget it. Now I have a lot of other stuff to keep me busy, and this project was just too complex for me right now. Besides, if I continued doing this, I would get sick of Star Wars, and fast. I apologize for any inconvience.

New Librarian
Time
Well, I do know some more info about this guy.

He's a retired principal from Downstate Michigan, and he has a beard, which the REAL Richard never had. BUT, he has a taste for arts and theater, so talk of the Thief might perk his interest.

Speaking of which, my library is starting to circulate DVDs (they begin Friday). I burned the Recobbled Cut and it will be the first of 2 DVDs the Library will circulate (the other is Grease). More titles will circulate in 3 weeks. Score one for OCP.

My town's old Librarian is retiring. And she's being replaced by a man. I don't know a lot about him, except for his name:

Richard Williams

Can this be the man who conceived the Thief and the Cobbler? Who went through all that thick and thin only to lose it? And to end up as my town's librarian!?

I could be jolly well mistaken, but it would be so great if it were true. Something nice to tell OCP...

Honestly though, I really don't feel like working on this anymore. Now that I've got Broadband, a new favorite game of all time (DOOM), and the Thief and the Cobbler, I spend all the time playing DOOM 3 online and watching all the wonderful versions of the Thief.

The only way you'll get me to work on this again is:

1. You remove all my procrastination posts, because they don't look very good.
2. You create a petition signed by at least 75 people asking me to finish this. Because 2 or 3 isn't convincing enough...

Princess and the Cobbler Review
Time
I just got finished watching The Princess and the Cobbler, the so-called "ruined" version of Richard Williams's The Thief and the Cobbler. And I honestly have to say, it's not really that bad.

I'm planning to burn a copy of The Thief for my 4-year-old cousins for Chritsmas, and personally, I think the best choice would be the Princess cut, and for several reasons:

1. It's a finished film. My cousins won't want to watch something that's not finished. At least until they're older. BTW, it was easy to notice the transition from Williams animation to Calvert animation, but I was able to cope with it, and so will they.

2. The story makes more sense. The love tension between Tack and YumYum helps brighten up the story, because with all the animation cut from the Thief stealing the balls and the One-eye sequences, those won't be enough to interest my cousins.

3. It's a reasonable length. Even for me, the Recobbled Cut seemed to drag a bit. The same reason above helps make the movie go faster.

4. The music and the songs. I actually like the music in the Princess cut better than in the Original cut. And the songs, although uninspiring, will appeal to my cousins, who are growing up with those oh-so Disney classics.

Now I haven't seen the Workprint yet, but I did enjoy the Recobbled Cut. And I'd like to see it the way it was originally intended. But to me, the Princess cut is a much more kid-friendly adaptation, and I deem it the best choice to make for my cousins this Christmas. Maybe later on, I'll burn them the Recobbled Cut...

As for Arabian Knight, that's a different story. I have yet to see it, but judging from what I've heard, it's probably not going to be pretty. I'm getting it from Garrett himself, paid him the money, and hopefully I'll get it in a few weeks...

PAL to NTSC Convertor
Time
I finally got the Thief and the Cobbler. But the Richard Williams Workprint won't play on any of my DVD players. The guy who sent me the set said the disc was in PAL format, and that I needed to find some way to transcode it into NTSC format. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the tools to do this, so I need to seek help from another source.

Who knows of a program that will convert a DVD from PAL to NTSC format? And please, make sure I can get it for free, because I don't want to have to pay $100 for something I'm probably only going to use once...
