I think the last picture works best for the “The Reckoning” title!
I think the last picture works best for the “The Reckoning” title!
This episode could have easily been one of the shorter 30 minute mandalorian episodes. Felt bloated for no reason.
The fact that Pershing is seemingly out of the picture now considering what was done to him, makes the episode seem even more irrelevant to focus so much time on him.
We’ll have to see though.
It honestly sucks being an EU fan, knowing how much better the New Republic could be. But it’s portrayal here makes sense considering the laughing stalk it becomes in the sequel trilogy.
Hooray! That’s excellent to hear. I don’t currently plan to add subtitles, though they have been requested a lot. I don’t know how much work they’d take, which is why it’s not something I’ve picked up. Does anyone know how to create/edit subtitle tracks? I’d be starting from scratch.
Aegisub.
Only thing that was a little rough scene-wise, was Din staying to wait for Grogu’s decision. Also having the Purgil moment be the scene to show the outcome of Grogu’s decision doesn’t quite work to me. I honestly think the Croc fight scene would work better for showing his decision. We only see Din when he lands, then Grogu pops up a second later. It misleads the audience into thinking Grogu chose Luke, only for the audience to be surprised when he pops up.
Something akin to this…

Other than that… fantastic first cut! Crawl looks great too! Exited to see this built as episodes come out.
After watching todays episode it occurred to me that it might be better moving all the Mando/Grogu storyline specific content from TBOBF out of your edit and combining them with the first two episodes of this new season to make a third chapter in your Mandalorian story. That way the Boba Fett story could be its own thing (with a brief supporting appearance from Djarin) and the forthcoming six new Mandalorian episodes could form a chapter four. Just a thought.
Since all the shows already intertwine with each other, I’d say it’s better long term doing it the way Smudger’s doing it. Combining it all under one banner is better than having .5’s or separate titled movies you have to insert into certain spots to get the full viewing experience.
Thanks WDR! It was always my intention to move the Luke/Grogu scenes to the start of the next Movie. Favreau’s comments have reinforced that position!
Awesome! Can’t wait to see the progression of your 4th movie in the coming months!
I finally got around to checking out all 3 of your Mando movies, and I must say Smudger, these are fantastic! I really love what you accomplished with the BOBF content. Completely seamless with the Mando content.
After hearing Favreau’s comment about Grogu being with Luke for 2 years (I haven’t seen Favreau walk this back as a slip-up) I’m wondering if there may be a way to imply this better. Since you were able to seamlessly remove Grogu from the Tatoonie scenes and leave him only for the ending of your 3rd movie, I’m wondering if it may be better suited for the opening of the 4th movie. This way you could imply a 2 year timejump (or even any amount of timejump) in the crawl.
This would also help with how we see such drastic changes with characters and locations. Such as the Armorer being on that new planet instead of the “ring city” we saw her on in BOBF, also the massive change in Navaro.
Though this would require you to chop up your Luke and Grogu scenes. The first training scenes imply that Grogu hasn’t been training with Luke for very long. So leave the ones where he’s learning to jump and what not as the end of the 3rd movie. Then open the 4th movie with Din arriving on Luke’s planet, have it play out the same, but instead jump to the scene of Grogu jumping along the rocks. It shows that he’s had a level of progression since the end of your 3rd movie with his small jumps.
Grogu and Din being back together so soon has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and even though explaining it in a crawl that time has passed is only a band-aid on this issue, it’s still at least a little better than what we have been given.
I’m not the best at explaining everything in text form, but hopefully some of that came across coherently lol. I haven’t even attempted to edit this idea into realty, so it may not be feasible. But I’m gonna try playing around with your 3rd movie edit and see if the idea even works.
Have you done any AI tests using your isolated Jar Jar lines yet, Eddie?
JEDIT: Double post.
I don’t think it would save the viewer much time - it’d mainly be all the existing content smushed together - but it might feel more ‘bitesize’ this way, and I think there’s a nice flow to it. What do you think about the content of each of the suggested episodes?
They sound great to me! You paired a lot of the episodes up well! I think Movie 1 alone sounds far better than all of that content separate.
I’d love to see this new movie format! I was already watching Refocused in an even more condensed format than you had listed, so I’d definitely love to see it this way!
Especially like the idea of the 6.5 movie as I feel Citadel needs to be kept for those that want to watch the Bad Batch.
Would love a link!
I’ll ask it here too - now that AI seems like it can recreate a lot of voices, and I’ve isolated all of Jar Jar’s dialogue enough that I can likely use it to train an AI voice tool, are there any new or alternate Jar Jar lines we think would be valuable? It’d be great to give him actual agency.
It’d be cool if there was a way to have Binks already be apart of the Senate, guiding the Jedi to Gungan City to discuss the invasion and possible alliance with Padme. Always a thought I’ve had that seemed far to radical to implement, but maybe just changing dialogue could achieve something in that ballpark.
Also unrelated to Jar Jar, I wonder if we could have some mention of Dooku from someone in Phantom Menace. Have Qui-Gon or one of the Jedi Council members make mention of him. Obviously this would require creating a conversation in which he would need to be mentioned, but with the new AI that’s come out, anything’s possible.
How’s the edit coming along, NFBisms? 😃
Honestly an ingenious way of cutting out the brothel and the sister plot line all together by stitching the “him arriving and him leaving” scenes together. Also good call on the crawl, I don’t think it was a good fit for the show.
Can’t wait to check this out!
Would love a link!
could you give us a cut list for the 7 episode cut?
I never wrote any of it down while I worked on it, which was foolish on my part. Also considering it’s been about a month since I touched it, I’d have to go scene by scene to write each down at this point.
I’m currently working on a other projects, so I’ll try to find some time to throw one together in the next few days.
I’d love a link to all your new versions!
Hey Eddie!
As someone who’s had the Clone Wars Blu-Ray sets sitting on my shelf for years and never being able to make it past the first seasons. I decided to finally sit down and watch your edit, and all I’ve got to say is thank you for delivering a version of the Clone Wars I could actually enjoy!
You said you plan on doing extended versions of particular episodes yeah? I’d love to see one of the Mortis arc. I’ve never watched the original episodes, but I found your cut to be a little too aggressive. It felt like a lot of it was missing, almost to the point of me not being able to follow any of the characters motives. The brother, sister, and father characters in particular. Maybe these elements are confusing in the original episodes, but seeing as this was a cut of 3 episodes down to a 30 minute episode, I’m gonna assume it may be the cut itself.
Another episode I think could use a slight extended cut would be the Order 66/Renegade arc. There was one part in the middle I was taken out by, as I could tell stuff was missing from the plot. After Tup’s death scene we jump to Shaak Ti reporting to Palpatine that Tups died and they will be sending the Tumor. Then we jump to the medical droid reporting to a Clone Trooper that he had seen the Renegade clone. I’m confused as to how this scene plays out. How do Shaak Ti and the Kamino women know of the tumor since Fives still has it and has seemingly gone on the run with it? I’m gonna assume in the original scene he was imprisoned and escaped which is why he is now being referred to as the Renegade clone?
If you do plan on doing extended cuts, I feel these two episodes could use it the most.
Also any idea on when you’ll start work on the Citadel arc and Bad Batch Episode 0? With Season 2 coming out soon, these are the two I’d like to see the most considering how important both are for the Bad Batch.
You must own the source material if you are going to do a fanedit. But this particular rule is lax for series only available on streaming services that won’t ever or aren’t planned on getting physical releases. Instead you must be paying for said streaming service to do an edit of these types of series.
As for software, a lot of people tend to use Adobe Premiere Pro or Vegas. DaVinci Resolve is also a good option if you are looking for free editing software.
Good job on Episode 4! Thanks for all the effort you put into these edits, WitchDR!
I’m going to take a little break from Andor. But once I get to them, I’ll let you know how I feel about the reworked espisodes.
Thanks Blueffalump!
Episode 4 had huge amount of cuts compared to the rest, so I’m glad that one worked out!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the 7 episode cut I’ve done. I re-added a few scenes back in, and trimmed others. So they do vary slightly from the supercuts. But like you I’m pretty burned out on Andor after working on it for a few months lol!
I’d like the new link!
Yay! I can’t wait to hear.
I’ve updated the drive with all the current versions, including the final episode!

I’m pretty satisfied with all four of these cuts. Though I have an idea for updating these even farther in the future. How would some feel about a title change? I’ve got a mock up of a new intro to replace the Andor title card, but I’m very inexperienced with creating something like this from scratch. As of right now I’ve settled on the new title being Star Wars: Ashes of the Republic.
Also how would an 8 episode cut of the show sound? Keeping it inline with the other Star Wars live action series, each episode being around 50 mins to 1 hour. It wouldn’t be to hard to cut each of these supercuts up into 2 episodes each.
