Lucasfilm to sell Physical Effects Unit
Time
Can somebody please explain to me how models were used in the prequels (Ep 2 & 3 especially)? I've heard the comment about how there were more models made for the prequels than the OT numerous times, but I take that with a grain of salt. While models may have been built, I refuse to believe that most were used, and I fully don't believe that very many actually made it into the films themselves.

Try to take it easy with the Lucas bashing.
Time
There's a difference between being batshit insane and the work that one produces. Prince is obviously a nut, but still has a creative and cultural edge. Since he likes camels does that mean his music consists entirely of camel noises? No. While I haven't personally listened to them, his latest albums have sold relatively well and have been well received by critics. There are tons of people out there who are goofy and/or complete assholes, but they still come up with whatever it is they do that is culturally and creatively relavent. However, GL has lost any semblance of an edge, and unfortunately his decision making process when it comes to all things star wars is obviously ruled by his ego/personal problems/isolation/take your pick.

The Reason the OOT was released
Time
See, I agree 100% with the original post. What you have to realize is that Lucasfilm isn't necessarily going after us, but rather the bootleg market as a whole. OT.com represents only a tiny fraction of that market. For every copy that somebody gets here, there are hundreds if not thousands sold through Ebay, personal webpages, trade shows, ect. It actually is a pretty lucrative market, and could add up to a few million dollars, which isn't chump change, even to Lucasfilm. This way they can legally (and more effectively) lay waste to the bootleg market. I bet we'll see people (hopefully nobody here) get served with lawsuits and/or cease-and-desist letters on Sept 13th.

HOLD ON a second...
Time
This may be a stupid question, but are we sure that there is a "full screen" option as far as each unaltered disc goes? Perhaps the "full screen" refers specifically to the 2004 version disc, and each unaltered disc is a letterboxed version by default since it is only considered a "bonus" feature and/or Lucasfilm is cheaping out, ect.

New DVDs NOT 16x9
Time
After the quote Lucas made to MTV, I'm convinced they are deliberately making them shitty. He hasn't all of sudden back-tracked on his views of "his" version of the OT (and, to me, it's unthinkable that Lucasfilm, Fox, or Jim Ward were the ones that decided on releasing the "Unaltered Trilogy" DVDs...we know who makes the final decision). He wants his precious 2004/SE/work-in-progress DVDs to be the standard, and how better to do it than to create an unfair competition. He can shut up people like us, basically by saying "they got what they wanted, they're just whiners and complainers who are never happy" while selling the same thing over again (2004) DVDs. And let's not forget that this move would corner and virtually eliminate the bootleg market. It's all shit. But I definitely think if people make a big enough stink, they will notice.

New DVDs NOT 16x9
Time
Ugh. I just became both elated and entirely disgusted within the elapsed time of about 30 seconds. I saw the new DVD covers, and really started to feel pretty good. While they certainly aren't the greatest (and not as good as a lot of fan covers), I did get the slight impression from them that Lucasfilm was actually taking this release seriously. Ok cool. Then I read the digitalbits and all the air all of a sudden leaked out. I'm still going to hold judgement until I see the final product, but if these things are shit, then I'm done. You win Lucas, I'm moving on.

You might not. And I certainly wouldn't. BUT - there were plenty of people willing to drop over $1000 - $1500 on XBOX 360 on ebay. It will be interesting to see if the Wii will reclaim the gaming crown for Nintendo. But didn't people say that when Gamecube was released. I'd be interested in seeing the Wii's capabilities on an HDTV. Admittedly, I haven't checked out any of the specs on it.

Unforunately, this is where Nintendo's recent arrogance/idiocy comes into play (note: I am, and have been loyal to Nintendo and want a Wii). They apparently think HD isn't important to gaming, and don't plan to incorporate it into the Wii. Remind anyone of their opinion of online gaming when the GC came out?

I gotta go with the rest of you. While I still have reservations about the Wii, AND love the 360, the ONLY thing that really interests me about the PS3 is Blu-Ray player, and that undoubtedly will be a piece of crap (not Blu-ray, just the player). And I still have yet to see any in-game footage from the PS3 too. And $600 beans to boot? No thanks.

Have any of you guys been fired before?
Time
There's a position at my job that has a very high turnover rate. Some people end up quiting, but just as many end up being "let go" as Jenny said. Anyway, the general manager, who is in charge of hiring and firing, just fired a guy a few days ago. Here's the unfortunate part: the wife of the guy who got fired had an aneurysm earlier that morning. So his wife got rushed to the hospital and he got fired both on the same day. OUCH! Needless to say the general manager felt like shit. Although he's also the guy who, if you're being "let go" makes you sign a resignation form so they don't have to pay unemployment.

The Masters
Time
Well, I don't think the course is that different. Yeah they've moved some tee boxes and lengthened some holes, but it's not like the course is altogether different. Anyways, I absolutely love the Masters. It's actually my favorite televised sporting event all year. I just hope they get good weather on Sunday!

Kate Beckinsale enters Wonder Woman role race
Time
I wonder if the casting call would be anything like this...

Kate Beckinsale: Hi! Mr. Whedon? I'm Kate Beckinsale. I'd really like to be part of your Wonder Woman film!

Joss Whedon: uh huh...

KB: i've always loved Wonder Woman and would jump at the chance to play her!

JW: dig...

KB: I believe my track record speaks for itself and I've proven I can handle action roles with my Underworld films!

JW: word...

KB: Plus, being British, I could add a whole new dynamic to the role!

JW: dig...

KB: Seriously, I just would like to be strongly considered for the role

JW: Uh huh...

KB: Soooo?

JW: Why don't you jump out of that black underworld suit and SHOW ME THAT FAT ASS!!
