THE PSYCHO REVIEW
Time
Thanks guys. Yeah, I guess that it IS the source material, because the blacker the scene is (and the X-Files is almost always dark) grainier it gets. I can stand some grain, but I could honestly get a better picture with a UHF connection than I can from these dvds, not to mention I saw no problems with the first 3 season dvd sets. Anyway, I guess I can live with the crappy picture so long as I know that they are all that way, and it's not my particular set that is defective. Thanks again.

THE PSYCHO REVIEW
Time
Dayv (and anyone else), I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I recently bought season 4 of the "X-Files" and it has to be the worst picture I've ever seen on DVD. Close to unwatchable. I was wondering if there may have been some sort of recall, and if not, what should I do about contacting them and/or complaining?

What would you like to see in a scifi/fantasy web site? The time has come for a change...
Time
I don't really have much to offer (other than the possible monetary contribution) but I would just like to reinforce what a few others have already touched on. And that is, if you look at the popular websites out there like news sites, movie sites, blogs, ect, they garner a lot of their traffic simply because they have constantly updated content. This content can vary quality-wise, but it doesn't seem to matter as long as it's new and contantly changing. I'm not saying we should strive for mediocrity, but I've seen ridiculously bland blogs get hundreds of thousands of hits just because it was updated regularly. If enough people can be enlisted to provide fresh content (editorials, cartoons, reviews, news, art, links, ect) on a fairly regular basis, I think the popularity would skyrocket.

State of the Union
Time
Regardless of who the president is that's delivering the speech, to me, it comes off as little more than a collection of cliche'd slogans and vague generalizations. I consider the State of the Union address to be more of a morale-booster and/or pep-talk than an actual informative speech. I can be an 'informed citizen' without it.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

The attache case is what you use to carry your stuff (obviously). Along with it, you have a 'temporary' case. This is where you temporarily store stuff while at the attache case screen. What's it for? You can use the temp space to temporarily hold things while you strategically move the stuff in your attache case around to maximize every bit of space. So say you want a rifle but it won't fit. You can first move all your stuff to the temporary case, then fit it in around your rifle in the attache case. Also, the merchant will offer your larger attache cases as the game progresses.

Anyway, I beat the game a few days ago. Needless to say a great game, but with LOTS of replay value.

Cartoons!

Yeah baby. I couldn't even watch it then.

I remember Prostars.

What was messed up is that Wayne Gretsky's character was this whiny pansy. He was the Snarf to Jordan and Bo Jackon's Lion-O and Pantro. I can't believe he signed off on his character being so wimpy.

MGM's DVD Class Action Settlement
Time
Yeah, I remember seeing Vespas hook nose.

Obviously it seems that they are cutting out parts of the actual picture. But I'm not sure they are true pan & scan. For instance, take the movie Road House. While it's possible that some of the top/bottom of the picture was cropped, I don't think the sides were. If you watch the movie on television, there are scenes where the 4:3 television frame moves from one side of the widescreen picture to the other. This is not present on the DVD. I guess I don't know what I'm talking about, but since I haven't noticed the defect, I think I'll just keep the ones I have. Out of my 90 or so DVDs, only 3 are MGM.
