Films begging for Fan Edits or extended versions?
Time
One idea I've had was to tinker with the Matrix sequels. Perhaps make them into one 165-minute movie. I guess there'd be too many plot holes, but trim a few of the excesses from Reloaded, and drop most of Revolutions. Maybe blend the super burly brawl with the fight at the dock and just add it in where Neo steps through the door or something like that. Probably wouldn't work.

Granted, but Gameinformer has been wrong before.

Yes they have, but the information came from insiders, ones with DEVELOPEMENT KITS from Nintendo.

Anyway, I have to disagree a bit. Nintendo's console fan base is shrinking to tiny proportions. The GC (which I own and love) is a distant third behind the other two, and the only reason it has stayed in the game is the $99 price point.

But that is largely because the public is drawn more towards "hip" mature games, and masterpieces like Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness get overlooked because of "kiddy" games like Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario 2, all because Nintendo refuses to take the shock value route. The other problem is that 3rd party developers seem to have an alergic reaction to the GC, despite it's reportedly easy development structure and PS2 busting power and Durability. (Does anyone really believe that the PS2 version of RE4 will look as good or be so seamless?)

This is all true, but a problem nonetheless.

The Revolution controllers will be totally touch screen. It's been confirmed by insiders.

Supposed insiders have said all kinds of things that never came to fruition. And besides it is backwards compatible with Gamecube games, which means that it must have a controller that's at least as functional as the GC's.

Well they said that there will be numerous ways to configure what is on the screen, but if you want to play GC games you will be using the touch screen. There won't be any buttons. Don't believe it? That's fine, just don't be surprised in two months when everything I've said is confirmed at E3.

To me, this signals that Nintendo hasn't learned its lesson, and that is that they need to cater to the needs of gamers, rather than dictate to consumers what consumers want. I see the touch screen as little more than a lame gimmick to differentiate their console from the others, when what they should be doing is conducting market research to see what exactly it is people want. Just my opinion.

I agree, but as long as the touch-screen controller games don't dominate the console and traditional games get the shaft, I say "let Nintendo try to expand their fanbase"... Besides, even if the DS and revolution flop, there is allways the Gameboy to fall back on.

Well, I don't think Nintendo as a 'company' will go under, just that they will get out of the console market. And I just see Nintendo further alienating people with the Revolution. Instead of just giving gamers a die hard gaming system with all the options they want Nintendo falls back on gimmicks that attract people soley on a novelty basis.

Has anybody read the new Game Informer? They had a pretty nice article on what to expect from next-gen systems. Here's what the next-gen console war looks like to me (feel free to interject or correct me):

Xbox Next/Xenon/360 - Will be the first out, but also possibly underpowered. It seems Microsoft is going to base it's features around online. Instead of a harddrive, all your information will be saved in an account on Microsoft's servers. With this, you will be able to 'customize' your games buy buying/downloading extras, i.e. cars, maps, weapons, cheats, ect. All this will be saved into your account, along with music and other media. Also, they're guessing that games will still come on regular DVD-9s. Most people are expecting it to be the first system out of the gates, arriving by Xmas 2005. I don't think I like really any of these decisions, but I'll probably end up getting one just for Halo 3.

PS3 - Supposedly, Sony's "cell" processor will operate at well over 4 ghz. The disc drive will utilize Blu-Ray technology. Both of these outclass the Xbox Next's current specs. If they can keep the cost down and the workmanship up, I think this will be the system to beat, depending on how well Microsoft handles its head start.

Nintendo Revolution - While the specs of the unit aren't really known, apparently Nintendo is going with 'buttonless' controllers, which instead use a touch screen. No shoulder buttons, no analog sticks - just a screen. Not sure I like this idea, but I haven't really liked any of Nintendo's decisions for quite some time. Unless Nintendo can pull a rabit out of its hat, I think they'll get crushed and this will be their last console.

Man, that God of War seems to be getting pretty good reviews. How smart would it be to buy a used PS2 on ebay?

You could probably get a used one at EB games or Gamestop cheaper than you could get one off of EBay, plus they have a warrenty at EB.

Actually not entirely true. Ebay typically has them for around $70 (including shipping and memory card) where it's much more ($129?) at Gamestop. But the warranty definitely is an important factor, considering the track record of the ps2 (plus most used ones will probably be early models). Guess I won't make any decisions right now. Thanks for the help guys.

"Say I panted my house white. Someone comes along and says I should paint it green. But I don't want it to be green. Maybe it should be green, maybe it will look better being green, but I want it white. It's going to be white."

This is lame. The correct analogy would be: "Say I painted my house puke orange and turd brown with some purple thrown in. Someone comes along and says I should paint it green. But I don't want it to be green. Maybe it should be green, maybe it will look better being green, but I want it puke orange, turd brown and purple. It's going to be puke orange, turd brown and purple".

New ROTS Trailer
Time
I have to agree. I think the HD camera actually makes blue screen effects look far worse. I still disagree with the decision and believe film would have been more suitable. But I will say that the effects in the trailer still looked better than AOTC's.

As for Grievous, I have one theory one why he was introduced. Obviously I agree with the action figure and Vader origin arguments. Note: I have not seen any spoilers, so this might sounds stupid. Samuel L. Jackson made a comment somewhere that he asked GL prior to Ep III to make sure his character did something integral to the plot before being offed. Perhaps GL needed to appease SLJ by creating a powerful villain for him to beat.

Comic book movies - who says yes and who says no?
Time
This is just my opinion, but I don't think Catwoman would be that great of a film no matter what they tried. I just don't think the character/story translate well to live-action without it being cheesy and campy, especially without a larger character to sustain the movie. Same goes with Wonder Woman and Aquaman and whathaveyou.

One character/story I think could work though is something on Bishop from the X-Men universe.
