-When Obi-Wan picks up the dart, I would overdub "Kamino". While it might not work perfectly, it would eliminate any need for Dex's "diner". I would still leave in Obi-Wan's search for information on Kamino. I know Cleveland is in northern Ohio, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't need directions to get there.

Earlier in this thread, I explained that I will be solving that problem by dubbing the analysis robot in the deleted scene found on the DVD. The robot will identify the dart for Obi-Wan, eliminating Dex and the diner.

Sorry, I missed that part. But sounds like really cool idea!

I like your ideas, Trooperman!

I'm thinking of making my own edit of Ep 2 once I get some time. I like what MagnoliaFan did and would use his as a template so I guess it would be somewhat of a hybrid perhaps. Just a few nips here and there. Anyway, some of these are probably pretty silly, but oh well.

-drop the "I think" from when Anakin says it's a short cut. He's supposed to be cocky, right?

-drop Obi-Wan's "Good call, my young padawan" line

-drop Padme's "R2 what are you doing here?" line and just have Threepio tell them he has a message.

-drop the seperatist dialogue/scene on Geonosis. I think it's unnecessary (not to mention poorly done). The seperatists are already there. Why do they need to pledge their allegiance? I would only leave in Dooku speaking.

-When Obi-Wan is chained to the post and and says "Good job" I would splice in a shot of the full stadium as he looks up.

-drop the assembly line scene. Show Padme landing and riding the conveyor belt away, then show her being caught by Geonosians. Show Anakin jumping down and being surrounded by Jango and droidekas. I'd even go as far to drop the R2 and Threepio all together from Geonosis (assumably they'd stay on Padme's ship) but this might cue music problems during the arena battle. I know that might be blasphemous considering the droids are always in the think of things in every movie, but I feel they added very little to the Geonosis scenes.

-Restore the hiss of Anakin's lightsaber in the Tuskan camp

-Restore the first "Tell us" when Anakin is accosting Zam

I'm not sure what I would do about the Dooku duel(s).

Childhood Past-time: Model Rockets

Those switches NEVER worked right. Dude, I forgot about the Alphas. Estes had a really neat business going on rockets for quite a few years. Remember those balsa wood fins? Huuuhhhhh...terrible. I remember my favorites were models called the Patriot and also there was one that was silver and black with a skull and cross-bones on it. Also my brother had a funky dark-glittery green one that they called "The Kryptonite".

That's awesome. Yeah, I remember the Patriot. It was somewhat smaller, right? And yeah, balsa wasn't the greatest material to build those things out of considering the stress they are under. But then again, didn't they sell like a big 'value' pack that was just full of assorted pieces that you could mix and match into whatever?

Awesome, Sessler.

We took the empty 2 liter bottle, put 3 or 4 crumpled pieces of aluminum foil into the bottle and poured in the acid to cover... close the lid tightly, shake the bottle and THROW IT AWAY FROM YOU!!! LOL. No fire or smoke, of course, but... BADABOOOOOMMMM!!!!

Then again, we also used to make home-brewed napalm out of Ivory liquid soap and gasoline... those were the days!

(what the hell were we thinking?!?!?!?!)

Oh and yes... to answer the thread- we also built and launced model rockets. Fun times, but running after them and trying to figure out where they landed (inevitably in some wooded area) was a pain in the rear.

We used to do these (although we substituted "Works" toilet cleaner for pool chemicals) until one went off in my buddy's basement.

Anyway, I spent a few summers (and probably hundreds of my parents' dollars) on Estes rockets. Although, like you guys, I rarely fired them off properly, instead modifiying them and experimenting and whatnot. I don't think I ever used the starter switch, instead I'd just touch the wires to a lantern battery. Fields were usually too windy, so I just set them off in the neighborhood. If they landed on someone's roof, I'd just go by a new $5 mosquito or Alpha and whatever. Once we tried fastening one onto a the back of a toy dumptruck to see if we could set a toy-truck land speed record, but it didn't work. Another time I had one of those multi-stage ones, with this long fuselage. I don't know if it was a defective engine (or maybe I glued the nose on hoping it would blow up) but the thing came straight down the way it came up. We didn't realize how fast it was approaching condsidering it probably hit a few thousand feet, but we barely got out of the way of it down at us in a free fall. It stuck 2 feet into the ground. I ripped it in half just tring to pull it out of the ground. God this is awesome. Keep the stories comin' guys!

A Big Debate for the New Century
Time
Well, I believe in biological evolution. But I think more people (including myself) would be more open-minded to the 'intelligent design' idea if it were presented like you just did, i.e. thoughful and concise, with supporting arguments. Sadly, a lot of people use the "itz in da bible so itz reel!!!1" as their first and last supporting argument. That wasn't a jab at religious people, but rather people who use religion to replace all levels of common sense and critical thinking. I think a balance can and should exist.

I'm just curious, but where do you get the low probability variable? Due to the sheer size of the universe (it being limitless and all), I would think that the probability of life developing somewhere would be relatively high.

Well, I already stated my opinion on why this sort of thing happens with Nintendo, but we don't have to get into that. I agree, though. Ubisoft is one of those companies who really seems to pride themselves on releasing first-class products, not bug-infested rushjobs or half-assed throwaway titles. This is very strange indeed.

Sequels that should never be...

Someone here can obviously tell it better than I can, but 'regions' were created for dvd players so that the media played on it would come from that particular region or market. It's a way to keep income in-house. For instance, say all dvd players in the US could play dvds from anywhere in the world. Theoretically, everyone in the US could import their dvds from someplace else for cheaper than they could get them here. So, the manufactures are lobbied by retailers to encode their dvd players so that they will only play dvds that were specifically destined for North America, thereby keeping the money spent on them in the north american economy, rather than it going to Asia, Europe ect.

Hmmm. I guess I'll give the obligatory "get whichever one suits your tastes more" answer. I want a PSP. It can do more, and seems to have a good slate of games coming out (Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, Syphon Filter, Gran Turismo, ect). The down sides are that we don't know how durable the PSP will be over the long haul, and that it seems like it could eat up money with memory sticks, peripherals, ect. Also of note, the price of the PSP in all likelihood won't come down until at least 2006.
