Those "Takes You Out Of The Moment" Moments...
Time
I think Luke definitely didn't care if he survived that fall in ESB

What moments take me out.

Episode 1:

Any scene with Jar jar binks. If I must choose the worst one it's probably when the retard's kicked in the nuts. (Really though the whole movie is one big moment that takes me out of it.)

Episode 2:

That lame nightclub scene where George gives his daughter and ahmed best cameos and the camera stops directly on them for a little too long. It's such a 'take you out' moment. I wonder how i'd view it if I didn't know who those people were though. It's still a shot that lasts way too long to just be a normal shot.

The scene with dooku talking to a bunch of cgi cartoons.

Anakin and Padme in the field. It's just completely ridiculous and badly acted, written, everything.

Episode 3:

"Here's where the fun begins." Ahhh subtlety!!! NOT. Way to ripoff han solo, Vader. (I suspect Lucas wishes to spite us by making our kids think anakin said it first.)

Chewbacca carrying fucking Yoda. This took me completely out of the movie as a serious new star wars story and into the world of parody. Just a terrible Ot-killing idea.

Padme dying of a broken heart.

The whole thing. The whole pt. It's just a stupid mess.

Episode 4:

Watching it today, it's still a damn classic. Nothing takes me out, not even shoddy fx work.

Episode 5:

Another Classic. If something took me out, I don't remember it.

Episode 6:

Ewoks and that little bastard, salacious crumb, a sign of things to come.

Try to take it easy with the Lucas bashing.
Time
I'm so sick of it. -a rant by Wesyeed.

He hordes the good films in his ranch and delivers bad films called the PT, which I can't believe has dedicated fans. i can understand the random kid who's just into anything with lots of explosions and lightsabers but serious almost-religious fans of these crappy wastes of potential? come on. Honestly after episode 1 came out, I could sense something was fucked up about the new star wars... and back then, I think people were so ravenous, so desperate to love some new star wars movie that the mere mention of something/anything unfavorable about the new movie was met with Furious Rage. i still have the scars to this day. I guess that's the internet for you; It's war, over the stupidest things. (Lesson learned: Some fanboys prefer delusion.)

The Lucas I respected and admired growing up is DEAD. Yep. Whoever this fat business guy is, is not the cool 70s George Lucas who pioneered an entirely new industry in filmmaking and delivered an amazing sci-fi/fantasy experience that captivated everyone here. I really hate the new lucas. Yeah I said it. Take it easy with the Lucas Bashing? why... attacking him verbally, wishing death etc, is nothing to him. He'll just go swim in his pool full of money like scrooge mcduck after reading us call him a fat douche or whatever. He could care less if we bash him. All the suckers who buy his crappy new films and special editions (i'm a sucker for buying his crappy episode 1 and 2, thankfully skipping 3) still gave him the money he's currently swimming in laughing at us.

I'm tired of it, Jay. I'm tired of Lucas' shameless manipulation of his fanbase through hyperspace, crappy movies, the special editions all of it. We're his money farm, not fans. He shows us 0 respect or loyalty while that's all we had for him for god i don't even remember how long i've dedicated my time to star wars stuff... I just want to punch him for doing this to us.

I'm doing what i think is sane now. I'm just going to tell lucas to go cgi himself some fans because he's bound to lose them once they wake up and see how he truly values us. I want to say something very friggin insulting to Lucas but no.. whatever... no bashing. He's a... no. I'll just not be his sucker anymore.

Star Wars Battlefront - Journal of the 501st.....a daveytod release
Time
Cool. i have to say that i was surprised to see some good acting from Temurra here. i'd have never known it just by his performance in the PT. He'd have been great under a better director I guess. In fact, these journals are more interesting, better written, just better than the entire Prequel Trilogy and maintain the essence of the OT. Tragic how that's not what Lucas could accomplish but some videogame makers could.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Time
Who's doing the score for the next film?

And yes i have to say, besides the glossed over bits that can be cleared up in the sequel with a quick line about brother wands connecting, I love Goblet of fire because it's the Empire Strikes Back of the series. Sexual tension is strong, villains return, and a character is lost in the end. And Adigitalman's edit makes it even better.

Above all that, what I truly enjoy is how perfectly Dan plays harry in this one. He's just exactly what Hamill is to Luke Skywalker I think. I just can't imagine any other actor as harry potter anymore. It's like the planets that aligned the day the three leads in star wars were cast re-aligned when harry potter was cast because each of the lead kids in these movies is absolutely perfect for their part. I'm seriously expecting Dan to become an excellent voice actor, Rupert to become a huge movie star in movies like Arizona Smith and the Party of five, and Emma to become a hollywood writer. Hey... it's possible.

My favorite thing about GOF is Harry's moments with Cho. I just love seeing him play those moments so genuinely it's as if he's not even acting. That Cho is cutie... i can't wait to see more of those two in the next.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Trailer
Time
It's cool but I still prefer the live action turtles since they're just so much more impressive and believable than cgi cartoons. I'm glad there's a new movie coming out and it'll probably kick all kinds of ass, have a good story, all that stuff, but the stylized animation aspect doesn't really appeal to me that much personally. I think if they're going to do a continuation of the old movies, they should do it with jim henson's costumes mixed with cgi, although I'm not sure what this movie is, a continuation or new start.

About the pupils. The new cartoon uses pupil-less turtles like the comics and it's fine for the show. So it might have been fine for this too. i'm not sure but i think turtles have this second eye-lid that's transparent which they use underwater. Maybe these turtles have glow-in-the-dark versions of the same thing? The way the eyes look now is odd to me since they don't seem to blink.

I don't think helmet's saying it's dead for everyone, just dead for him/ (her?) you know, lost hope and all that. i have to agree. Lucas will never have one speck of respect for the original films. Is it because of some legal thing with his wife? I don't know, maybe it is. Whatever the reason, we probably won't be seeing the original unaltered films on dvd blu ray whatever else unless some employee in charge of the masters gets pissed at lucas and decides to release his own dvd for all that's good and green in the world.

Well, I'd sy it's been dead for me since Darth Vader said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, as James earl Jones himself, the iconic badass PERFECT voice of darth vader, became Prequelized with some typical prequel dialogue. It was a horrific day that day, I tell you.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Time
Having watched Adigitalman's Extended cut of this movie a few things became clearer about it I thought I'd share.

I used to question why Dumbledore suddenly suspected mad-eye was possibly a spy. now I finally figured it out; it's rather simple too. If mad-eye's the only person responsible for putting the Cup in the maze, he'd be the only person who could have bewitched it. That with how Dumbledore notices how generous mad-eyes is to Potter by pointing out which direction to start through the maze, must have been enough to give dumbledore a reason to suspect he may have put harry's name in the goblet considering he's been seen helping him along.

At muggle.net, gosh there's a lot of complaints about this. Not even adigitalman could help it. The whole explanation for why the wands can connect is completely glossed over. I hope it's given proper explanation in the next film.

I love the extended dance, Adigital man. now it doesn't seem so awkward that hermione's so angry at ron for not asking her to go first. With more time between when he implies Victor's only interested in her for her body and the rest of their argument, it seems as though Ron's been bothering her all throughout the dance and she finally snaps. It's much better this way.

So out of all the potter movies, this is my favorite. It could have stuck a little closer to the source though. i can't wait to see the next movie and how they figure out how to get Fred and George enough money to buy their own store. they were supposed to be given it in this film, but maybe they'll get a loan from harry in Ootp instead. who knows.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
WHOA!!!

That trailer was...

First i want to say how much more excited i am now about this than i was before. The new additions look EXCELLENT. Mace with a blue lightsaber, the footage from dune, the recoloring of scenes. Damn nice.

Now on to the part that made me say whoa...

The voice:

................. OMG IT'S LIKE I'VE DREAMED. Is it a little sloppy like you said? yes But it's a good voice, forget that, great voice. That's what I was hoping for. i wanted to know your voice would be close to what i imagined the REAL Anakin skywalker would sound like, and i have to say it's so close it's scary. I can't believe this is real. *pinches self*

Ok, onto the sharp-eyed fanboy criticism.

The voice being too low? it does seem to clash with this girly-looking jedi lucas created.... (particularly the first lines "anakin at your service") but the more I listen, the more I like it. When it's all mixed together with the final sound track it should blend in nicely and not be too noticably dubbed. (Wow, you've got some cajones to attempt this. I commend you.)

Was C3P0 given new dialogue? I just noticed. Oh that's so cool....

There's still a bit of purple glow around mace's hand. Not that big a deal but it's there. *shrugs* overall a fine looking saber.

I'm not sure if you've already mentioned it but quickly i'll ask, was the "don't you touch me, AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH" a temp place-holder for something else? It's uh, it's a little cheesy. heh.

I think some of the re-colored scenes look a little too saturated with that color. the balcony one and the tatooine one seem somewhat overdone.

Your work here is spectacular overall. I'm so jealous, I want to do voices too... ha ha, well it's looking great. Can't wait for the final film.

i've uploaded it to youtube for all to see. this is great. (oh er, don't check out my vids.... they're too embarassing...)

Episode II: The Gathering Storm
Time
I did my first torrent not too long ago for Darth Editous' ANH and I found it's actually pretty easy.

A program called Azureus was what I used; it has an easy to follow guide on how to set up your own torrent. But You have a lot of options: distribution by mail, upload to binaries (this i'm clueless about), you can probably send it to rikter so he'd do a torrent or upload it to Demonoid or Myspleen yourself. Those are the two most popular torrent sites around here, I believe. The catch is that we're not allowed to link to or post torrent files on the board. We have to announce that it's up and people will have to do a little searching that's all.

it does seem like a fine edit. I'm especially interested in how you cut the duel... that's always been a troublesome sequence to fix and never seems to be quite right.

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH

This was a hell of a fun movie.
I have to see it again. It reminded me a lot of that star wars vibe i get when watching the crazy stuff and drama we see in the original trilogy afterwhich this sight was dedicated. dazzling swashbuckling action coolness awesome villains from beginning to end, and much like ESB, the fates of our heros are uncertain. I loved it. I hope Jack's ok... Depp is officially god from now on.

SUPERMAN RETURNS REVIEW
Time
Hey everyone, wesyeed here. I saw returns and sad to say I'm not feeling it with this movie... not like a "holy jesus that was awesome" feeling, more of a "eh" and it's not terrible but not great, merely average I'd say, super average... I think it may have borrowed too much from the old movies for its own good. Some parts were just awkward too and also, now superman has a son to deal with, so I'm not too interested in seeing singer do any future stories of Superboy and superdad... No thanks.

This really should be one hell of a fan edit though when they release all the cut scenes... are you interested greencapt?

Why the PT fans love the PT so much, not as diehard as we think
Time
Indeed...It's really funny how low fanboy standards for star wars have dropped with the pt's existence. Fart Jokes, and Jar Jar binks cartoonishly destroying the credibility of all that is star wars is actually acceptable to some... Yes. Unbelievable but true. Imagine Han solo pulling chewbacca's finger after saving leia and you have a nice little PT moment. Would that be alright to anyone? hmmm...No, just keep saying creepy, CO, because thats exactly what it is. Creepy creepy creepy. Personally, I think anyone who seriously enjoyed the OT shouls be insulted by what was allowed to become a part of their beloved trilogy with the PT's creation... but that's not under my control and never will be. People like what they like for whatever reason.

Years ago on an old message board, I knew a poster (not really knew, but knew as far as you can know somone on a message board I guess.) who LOVED jar jar binks. LOVED LOVED LOVED All the stupidness of that character and I couldn't believe it. I'd be awake at night trying to understand why someone who loves star wars can possibly love him, MAYBE someone with a gun to their head could say they LIKE him, but LOVE? That scene-destroying waste of cgi? It burns, rapes, destroys, craps on, and shreds my mind.

His nearly complete absence from Revenge of the Sith gave many the the impression that that was a better film than 1 and 2, i think, and is why many view tpm as the worst, aotc as better, and revenge as the best of the lot. And I think it's simply because Lucas finally wised up and dropped the silly thing out of these movies. I must say that as someone who hates (on a ridiculous level I admit) that thing, I actually really enjoyed RotS even with all its PT-ness still clearly there, what mattered to me was that I finally had a new star wars movie without some stupid cgi jamaican-thing flapping himself all over the place and I guess that's why a lot of other people like it too. Maybe we were so completely repulsed by that thing's pressence that we found a lot of relief in a practically jar jar-less film, even with all the garbage it still had (ie: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO). jar jar was gone. halellujah...To me that made rots a masterpiece compared to the other two. I know it's really simplistic but please understand that I really hate him, so much so, that the rest of the pt's faults are nothing by comparison... Maybe this was gL's plan, maybe not, but the night I learned jar jar would be nothing more than an extra in episode 3, all was forgiven.

that's my story.

I have to say that the gusher/basher mentality really did get to me at one point and make me seriously hate every frame from the prequel movies, but viewing them without that baggage, I see the good in them. there is something from the Ot still there behind all the bad stuff. Good luck salvaging it, trooperman and all the rest making edits of the pt.

I'm sure the kid would love clone wars if he enjoyed attack of the clones.

tf.n... I think that's the first placed I was ever banned from. I can't really remember why though... I hope I last longer around here.

oh now I remember. I posted something in the basher sanctuary and the mod there sent me packing for breaking the 'films not fans' rule. I remember I was venting because I guess I was flamed for something in the episode 3 forum discussing grievous I think...and I just had to say my piece somewhere... darn I have no idea what I said... well it was a great place to read.

Why was it closed?

what is there to say to that but thank you for sharing such a touching story. I'll admit i've actually forgotten what it's like to view all of these movies through a child's eyes and no matter what I personally hate about any of their versions, it's true that children find joy in the amazing fantasy world gL has created. He's a strange guy and I don't understand quite why he is how he is towards his fans or the decisions he makes, but as you say in the end, he's responsible for bringing joy to all of us at some time in our lives and joy to that unfortunate child. I do respect that about george lucas even if I don't really like him anymore. and Jango fett is really cool....

Remember when everyone hated Return of the Jedi?

My dad doesn't like ROTJ at all. He only owned ANH and ESB on laserdisc, but didn't want the 3rd one. I asked him why and he said something to the effect of "Burping aliens and fuzzy bears; this isn't the Star Wars I remember. Oh and Vader killed millions of people, but because he saved his son he gets to go to jedi heaven. Pfffft."

I, however, have never had a problem with it. Granted I think the burping alien is a little to juvinile for me, but I can over look it (Lucas' colors starting to come through in that one).

I saw ROTJ as a story where military strength, technology, and man power aren't always the winning factor. Sometimes the best victory comes through innocence and a willing spirit (i.e. the Ewoks). The Empire never saw it coming. That is why the Emperor couldn't foresee it. Good was clouding his vision.

And Vader getting redeamed at the end is a classic Jesus Christ teaching that I hold very dear to my heart. That no mater what you have done, and no mater who you are, you will always be loved (i.e. Luke's love parallels that of Jesus') and you are never so far into the darkside that you can't come back and be saved. No one is a "lost cause."

I cry every time Yoda dies, and have never found the dialogue in the film to be anything but wonderful. The summer of 1983 was the season I was born, and at that same moment Return of the Jedi was playing at #1 in theaters around the country. It's my personal slice of the original trilogy that I will cherish forever.

Say what you will about ROTJ, but it holds a special place in my heart.

the good thing about this is that your dad will be spared seeing Hayden's evil leer photoshoped into the ending. if he hated the original ending, that one would make him scream.

that aside, I feel that A New Hope and Empire strikes back are Pointless without the original Return of the Jedi.
the ending, with the reunions, the triumphant upbeat music, and the defining performance of Sebastian Shaw as anakin's ghost (I don't know about everybody else, but that scene made Obi-wan's words "Anakin was a good friend" and "The Good Man who was your father" perfectly Valid, much more so than what hayden was allowed to portray), is my favorate movie ending of all time.

absolutely agreed, on both quotes. I still have some nostalgic love for all the movies no matter what... Objectively however, rotj is the weakest of the originals, but still provides that essential conclusion to the story left dangling wide open after esb. anh is the only one that could stand on its own storywise without the rest imo.

I watch it now and am still blown way out of my chair by the conclusion with the emperor/luke/vader. it's perfect. Probably the best single moment of all star wars films rivalling esb's climactic duel and revelation. If only the rest of the film was up there in quality. the actors all continue to play their roles well enough for me and the whole sense of commradre and organic emotion impact on these people is all there unlike the newer films. Jabba's palace is a joke, one big poo doo of a joke, but as a guy I'm entertained by my lovely slave leia... hey hey.. so I can stand all the stupid comedy crap that happens there.

ewoks... Now here's a reversal. some here say the pt makes you appreciate rotj more. well that's definitely true for me except for the ewoks. the wookie battle in rots makes me wish these fuzzy cute bear things were replaced with wookies somehow. It's just... ok it's not too farfetched to believe the ewoks won the first skirmish with the troops because they caught them off guard, but these are the emp's best troops, legions of them in fact. Let's get real... these guys defeated jedi with ease...

c'mon

anyway, rotj's an enjoyable sequel that could have been better, yeah. I never hated it though. I even still have my fav carrie fischer poster from the film hanging above my desk... ah.. yeah it's the golden bikini poster.

Idea: Spider-man - Pre-9/11 cut & No-organics cut
Time
ah, I see. thanks for doing the research. yeah every news site I've googled about the video contains comments that mostly say the same thing... that the teaser wasn't meant to be used in the final film. (I can't see why. It's a really cool scene.) some debate that since parts of the teaser are still in the film that it was supposed to be used but the idea of showing the buildings trapping an aircraft while in real life that didn't quite happen, would offend some people. I can see that possibility in a way. Whatever the true case, personally, I'd love to see how it'd work within the context of the film. there's also that webshooter footage I remember seeing so long ago. I found it just before coming back here. see: webshooter If this is in high quality anywhere, I'd really pay just to have it. No not really, but it'd be nice to have...

I remember that quote from arad or raimi too, but my gut still tells me that there's something missing from the final film like a chunk was taken out at some point... My spidey edit would include that robbery scene, maybe re-arranging some scenes to make the goblin/spidey story less conveniently timed, adding stuff from the sequel, maybe even somehow making MJ die.. and try to take out any parts I didnt like...It'd be a challenging edit. Maybe I'll do this someday if I learn how to edit video and master the dvd, etc..

I heard about the extended cut of spidey 2 too, about a year ago. Maybe it'll be released before sm3 is.

anyway, thanks for replying true believers.

wesyeed, out.

Idea: Spider-man - Pre-9/11 cut & No-organics cut
Time

Hello all…

Well. With news of the Spider-man 3 teaser being attached to Superman Returns and mention of the original teaser in an article I was reading a few minutes ago, I remembered the original teaser for the first spider-man film and how it was removed after the tragic events in new york five years ago. Now as you’ve probably guessed by now, that’s why I made this thread: to discuss the possible re-insertion of that scene into the final film as well as any other deleted scenes or alternate scenes that could either be re-inserted or preserved.

My skills in editing dvd material like some of the editors here is non-existent, so my purpose in making this is to perhaps spark some interest in preserving or editing the lost scenes from this film for fan-edit dvds or whatever else. Also, to see if this already exists. It’s too cool an idea not to have been done already, I think…

There was some footage of tobey shooting what seemed to be webshooters in a video I saw online years ago. Does anyone here still have it? Are there other scenes like that? I don’t own the dvd so I don’t know what deleted scene is on it.

That’s all I wanted to say. I’ll be back later tonight and tomorrow to see if anyone cared.

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side (the TM edit) (Released)
Time
better than pink... I remember reading somewhere that the lightsaber colors are given to distinct classes of jedi/sith.

blue for guardian

Green for consular I think

Purple for super jedi

red for evil I guess

tiny sabers for jedi kids and yoda (I'd have made the kid's sabers white to show that they haven't earned a color yet.)

from my google searches i'm finding that this might be connected to the knights of the republic video game; it's an interesting ranking system. Some of you who've played the game may know more than I do about it. Of course we all know that originally only two colors existed, blue and red; but because luke's blade dissapeared against a blue sky in rotj, it was changed to green.

I don't think I like the idea of re-rotoing lots of different colors for lightsabers. for one it's a lot of work and it'd make the whole battle seem too much like a skittles commercial. It also might defeat the idea that a specific color is significant in some way. The most obivious being that red is for sith and blue/green/pimp-purple is for jedi.

and Oh dam I wish i could particapate in the test screening thing you're doing.

also I do silly voice recordings from time to time on my computer, but it's not with good recording equipment. just a standard computer mic. It still sounds ok enough to me though but I'm not sure if it'd be up to your standards. anyway I'm willing to help... but my uh... dinky equipment might be a hinderance.
