He needs a better one.
What's wrong with Tony, Tony?

If you just watched the movies, you wouldn't know or care what he is.
I disagree, Sir!
You call it "raping", I call it "enhancing". Let's call the whole thing off.

If an AT-ST falls in the woods, and there isn't an Ewok around to hear it, is the Emperor still overconfident?
Wait, Bloodnose! I added more words!
You must accept my new "original vision" for the post, even though it's not the version you grew up with and love.

As someone who grew up with the prequels, I can tell you they're something you grow out of when you begin to see just how terrible they are, while the OT still stands up to scrutiny.
I honestly think there's nothing to fear for future generations.
Like them lil Ewoks taught us, power is meaningless if you're on the Dark Side. Lucasfilm cannot rewrite history or force us to adopt whatever warped perspective allows Lucas to view the prequels as good.
I agree with this completely; having also grown up with, and at one time enjoying, the prequels as well, I can safely say that I recognize today that they're more or less piles of tripe that do the title "Star Wars" injustice, and I think most kids will see that as they grow up as well.
As a person, you "grow into" certain things, and good cinema is one of those things. It's like hating coffee, or mushrooms on pizza, or green olives as a kid; or like loving sugary cereal, or eating frosting out of the can, or wanting to subsist off of candy. There's a number of things you hate/love as a kid that you end up loving/hating as an adult.

This thread has gotten out of hand.
Or perhaps in hand...
I didn't know people went to those forums.
What a swell guy that Spielberg.
They should have made the prequels better.
I eat my cereal from a hyper bowl.
I'm sure this has been addressed already, but eleven pages? C'mon.
Well this is more or less perfect.
I'm going to attempt to be there. Seems like a neat event. Being surrounded by all things Star Wars feels like just about my idea of Heaven.
Er, wait... Boo! Star Wars is ruined forever! Rawr! *gnash teeth* *foam at mouth*
Kaarde was "played" by Zahn himself for a Decipher card.
That's Shannon Baksa as Mara Jade and Michael A. Stackpole as Corran Horn, too.
On the topic of SOTE, it'll always have a place in my heart as "good Star Wars", even though it really isn't the best. I played the game to death, and read the book dozens of times. I think the "multimedia campaign" really did a good job of sticking it in my head.
Most of his stuff was written pre-PT. His newer books, like Outbound Flight, which is a prequel book, are more PT-heavy.
He's a pretty excellent writer, though. Very good books.

Expect a 200 volume saga on the tragedy of Darth Thrawn sometime in the next two decades (you read it here first kids).
I will be taking this to the bank later today, if it bounces, you will hear from my legal team.

That doesn't sound like something Panaka would say. Unless he's now working in a Dairy Queen...which is pretty likely, actually.
He sure does in 2001's smash-hit Real-Time Strategy game, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, in, quite possibly, the best Star Wars quote ever.

Face it, Panaka is kind of a dope. I mean we know about Panaka's spinelessness , but he's also not very pleasant to look at, which is really a polite way of saying he's ugly.

I like a lot of the EU. I think the massive non-film-story presence is part of what makes Star Wars so great many times (though it can be a curse).
I liked most of the pre-Travissty expansion on Boba Fett. It really did build off the mystique and intrigue of the character (though I never liked the idea he was Jaster Mereel). Same is true for the Mandalorians. I loved the Open Seasons series, too.
I've been reading through all of the novels I can get my hands on in chronological (in-universe) order recently, and I'm just now getting up to The Phantom Menace, and I must say they've all been fairly enjoyable reads. The Jedi Apprentice series was pretty good, the Darth Bane books were quite good as well.
By far the best Star Wars book, and one of the best books period, that I've ever read was "The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi". Just an absolutely fantastic read, and very emotional as well. It really makes you feel for Obi-Wan, and ties the PT and OT together as well. Imagining Luke reading about the Clone Wars gave me chills, I have to say.
I also liked Shadows of the Empire, even though it's a pretty poorly-written book.
And lets not forget KOTOR. Probably one of the consistent best pieces of Star Wars EU out there, both the games and the comics, and the novels. Not many things have captured the feel of Star Wars as well as KOTOR.
Of course, on the flipside of that you have books where they do poorly. Some of the one-off short stories I've read in my novel quest have been lame. Even some of the larger series like the New Jedi Order stuff is pretty bad (you just don't kill Chewie, sorry), and, of course, like I mentioned before, Karen Traviss can just fuck right off.
So, I mean, there's the bad, and there's the good. It all adds to your personal canon, or it doesn't. Either way, there's a whole other window into the Star Wars universe in the EU that's really fascinating, and I don't think it should be missed.
