I hope you're right about them being prototypes, as they seem to be taking a giant step backwards in articulation.

Well, they've moved onto "Tiers" if you want. As of now, there are three.

The basic figures articulate like the old Power of the Force ones I grew up with: basically head, shoulder, legs. The "Basic" Black Series (normal size) figures articulate like their most recent series: head, shoulder, elbow, forearms, wrists, thighs, knees, feet, et cetera. And then the "Deluxe" Black Series (the 6.5 ones) have all kinds of articulation.

The annoying thing about this is that the very basic tier with the crap articulation costs about as much now as the older series figures that have as much articulation as the "Basic" Black Series figures do.

New stuff from ToyFair.

Looks like SilverWook was right about MacQuarrie alien companion. Also looks like we'll be seeing a friendly Mandalorian female on the show. That could be awesome.

Beyond that, there's an "Agent Kallus" who seems to be an Imperial Agent/heavy trooper fellow.

Ezra's saber is an interesting design, too.

Really digging the old-school look of the vehicles, in terms of design. Everything is still pretty rough at this stage, since they're all prototypes, but I'm liking what I see so far.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

Tobar and I discussed the new kid already, but I'll throw my opinions out here so everyone else can see them because I know there's going to be a shitstorm.

My first thought was "Oh no, another Force-sensitive character, ugh, what are you doing, Dave?" But this follows along with my character plan prediction pretty well. We now have the Mentor (Kanan), we have funny droid(s) (Chopper), we have Jedi Pupil (Ezra) who also serves as sarcastic guy, all we're missing is the Female and the Alien Sidekick. Maybe someone who doesn't believe in the Force, but that could easily be the Female or the Alien Sidekick... I feel like whatever remaining characters we have will be what make the show actually work, though, since they (hopefully) won't be Force-sensitive.

I'm glad to see that Kanan has been pushed into the mentor role, because the last thing I wanted was our main protagonist being a PT remnant. So I am glad in a way that Ezra is Force sensitive, but I would have preferred to just have Ezra and no Kanan, because then we have a character that is discovering the Force on his own, someone who can find ancient manuscripts or something and eventually meet up with Luke after ROTJ and become a Jedi.

Tobar brought up an interesting plot that perhaps Kanan is the initial pilot of the ship and then dies at the end of the movie/pilot. This is brilliant, as far as I'm concerned. We have this ex-Jedi trainee (apparently) who has survived the purge and is laying low somewhere, knowing that he's destined to keep his past a secret forever, believing that he's the last of his kind, depressed, but still making a living. He's put his lightsaber away and vowed never to touch it again because of all the memories it brings back.

Then he finds Ezra somehow, and he feels another presence in the Force for the first time in ages, maybe he thinks it's his old master at first because he's so out of practise and is disappointed when it's just some street urchin. Then he thinks, wait a minute, I'm not the last Jedi, and he realizes that he has to ensure the survival of the order by training this kid in the ways of the Force (because obviously they don't know about Luke and Obi-Wan and Yoda).

Obviously there's some tumult surrounding getting the kid, who is a loner obviously, to agree and team up with Kanan, but eventually the kid gives in, and they adventure around and it's all fun and games.

Then Vader or the Emperor or the Inquisitor senses them (maybe this is The Inquisitor's jurisdiction) or they get into trouble and are seen/sensed to be Force-Sensitive and the Inquisitor sets out to destroy them. Kanan realizes that this is serious and that he has to protect the future of the Jedi and picks up the lightsaber again, and works on teaching Ezra everything he knows, eventually this culminates in the Inquisitor cornering the crew and Kanan pulling an Obi-Wan, realizing that he has to give his life in order to ensure that the Jedi survive. Ezra realizes this isn't a game anymore and that he has to grow up and stop struggling with his "destiny" and seek out Jedi teachings or some red herring to make Kanan's sacrifice matter and Ezra to be a Jedi eventually.

Now that would be awesome. It's not likely to happen like that since Dave talks about the potential for Kanan and Ezra's relationship at near the end of the video, but it would really make both characters work, in my mind.

What in the EU would you keep?

Personally, I wouldn't mind them cutting everything, or at least cutting it down a huge amount.

We all generally pick and choose our canon anyway, so it's not like we'd be losing anything, and it would give authors a whole new world to play around in.

Obviously, that won't happen, but I wouldn't mind if it did. I'm guessing that we're not going to see too much of a change, honestly. I'm sure we'll lose stuff that conflicts directly with anything that happens in the new films/current high-level canon, but that's going to be it.

Boba Fett Spin-Off May Put a New Character in the Armor

I'm envious! I'm sure Temuera Morrison is a good actor, but I think the SE lines were recorded when he had a bad case of jetlag. ;)

I think Morrison was imitating the delivery of the original lines. I just don't think his voice sounds as cool doing the sinister monotone as the original voice sounded.

He also recorded them over the phone from his home in New Zealand, which just screams "quality" to me.

I like Tem, I like Jango as a character even. I just wish that Boba hadn't been ruined as he was. I enjoyed the storyline with Boba and Fenn Shysa and the Mandalorians during the Clone Wars, so if we could get back to that, I'd be happy.

I'm thinking of starting a post wherein I explain why Boba Fett is so cool, too...

Spectrum :

Presenter: Good evening. Tonight 'Spectrum' looks at one of the major problems in the world today - that old vexed question of what is going on. Is there still time to confront it, let alone solve it, or is it too late? What are the figures, what are the facts, what do people mean when they talk about things? Alexander Hardacre of the Economic Affairs Bureau.
Cut to equally intense pundit in front of a graph with three different coloured columns with percentages at the top. He talks with great authority.
Hardacre: In this graph, this column represents 23% of the population. This column represents 28% of the population, and this column represents 43% of the population.
Cut back to presenter.
Presenter: Telling figures indeed, but what do they mean to you, what do they mean to me, what do they mean to the average man in the street? With me now is Professor Tiddles of Leeds University...
Pull out to reveal bearded professor sitting next to presenter.
Presenter: ... Professor, you've spent many years researching into things, what do you think?
Professor: I think it's too early to tell.
Cut to presenter, he talks even faster now.
Presenter: 'Too early to tell' ... too early to say... it means the same thing. The word 'say' is the same as the word 'tell'. They're not spelt the same, but they mean the same. It's an identical situation, we have with 'ship' and 'boat' (holds up signs saying 'ship' and 'boat') but not the same as we have with 'bow' and 'bough' (holds up signs), they're spelt differently, mean different things but sound the same. (he holds up signs saying 'so there') But the real question remains. What is the solution, if any, to this problem? What can we do? What am I saying? Why am I sitting in this chair? Why am I on this programme? And what am I going to say next? Here to answer this is a professional cricketer.
Cut to cricketer.
Cricketer: I can say nothing at this point.
Cut back to presenter.
Presenter: Well, you were wrong... Professor?
Pull out to reveal professor still next to him.
Professor: Hello.
Cut to close-up of presenter.
Presenter: Hello. So... where do we stand? Where do we stand? Where do we sit? Where do we come? Where do we go? What do we do? What do we say? What do we eat? What do we drink? What do we think? What do we do?
Mix to stock film of London-Brighton train journey in two minutes. After a few seconds the train goes into a tunnel. Blackness. Loud crash.

Spectrum is one of my favourites.

Also not to be forgotten is the Cheese Shop and the Army Blackmail Racket.

And Blancmanges.

I also love TCW's willingness to contradict other EU. Peaceful Mandalorians forever!

Did you not see the final episode of that arc? I won't spoil it here, but maybe we saw different shows...

I did see it and I know exactly what you're referring to.

Perhaps I'm just oversensitive about people assuming pacifist Mandalorians because I was in a big discussion with a bunch of people throwing the entire show out because they heard the words "pacifist Mandalorian" and never saw the conclusion of the story.

Managed to pick up a Black Series 6" Boba Fett figure. These are selling now for usually double the retail price on Evilbay.

Black-Series-Boba-Wave-2-20.jpg

Ugh, so jealous. I've been looking casually but have yet to find one. I want it so bad.

I was at Forbidden Planet in London the other day and there was a whole rack of these figures for £22. Some guy on evilbay is selling one for £50!

Ugh. Keep an eye out, eh? If I can't find one here we may have to work something out. This is the Boba Fett figure I always wanted growing up. Reminds me of the 300th figure special they were doing ages ago. I drooled over that thing for months and never got one (though I see there's one on Ebay for 30 bucks signed by Mr. Bulloch himself, hmm...)

*Edit* Whoa, what? His rangefinder doesn't move? I don't think there's been a Boba figure that hasn't had a movable rangefinder since the 90s. Weird.

I thought the political ideals in America were mainly focused to the right and the EXTREMELY right? And as for the Boston Tea Party? Well...

We have plenty of lefties in the States. Hell, our President is a leftie.

It's just that the righties and the extreme righties are, in general, very loud and very obnoxious and thus more interesting for media coverage. If anything, with the way things have being going here recently, the country is probably leaning more leftie than rightie.

Also: I have a cold. It's pretty bullshit.
