The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

Well, you certainly don’t have to stop seeing them just because you no longer work with them, definitely. I’ve been good friends with people I don’t work with quite often.

Sometimes you have to be proactive in recovery, rather than just subsisting. You could also start attending some sort of support group to supplement your sanity if you decide to change jobs. There’s a lot you can do.

It’s a tough situation, man.

I would say you very likely could find another position elsewhere fairly easily, but I do understand not wanting to leave your “work family”. At the same time, you shouldn’t ever have to light yourself on fire to keep other people warm.

At the end of the day, you just have to do what’s best for you (which is probably whatever keeps you sober most often, heh).

Suicide Squad is getting panned and hearing that made my day.

I knew it would be crap the moment I saw the first images of the Joker and white trash Harley. I just didn’t know whether or not anyone else would realize it.

I certainly thought it looked like crap from the first footage. Then they used Bohemian Rhapsody in a trailer, which is one of the most overused songs in the history of the world, and I knew it would fail.

Maybe these are big DC characters for people who are interested in DC, but I know three or four of them (Joker, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Deadshot…) and have no idea who the rest are and most of them look like generic soldier people. And one has rope skills? Meh.

Just looked like another soulless tryhard attempt by DC to make a hip and funny and edgy superhero film. No thanks.

Someone makes a lighthearted joke and you all bust out the torches and carry it for over two pages. Good grief.
Does anybody enjoy coming here anymore? I’m asking seriously.

I had no idea it was a joke until his second and third posts a page later.

I once saw a system that puts a subdivision within Gen-Y in 1993 to take into account how warped the kids with no memory of the time before ubiquitous high-speed internet have turned out. I have a sister born in 1992 who’s totally fine, and my good friend’s little brother was born in 1994 and is a fucking weirdo, so I’ve seen it in stark relief and I think there’s something to that.

Yeah, it’s weird. I fall pretty squarely near the middle of the Millennial generation (which makes me filth) but I will always have more in common with someone born in 1982 than someone born in 1996, despite being the same distance in years away from me. Constant internet access changed kids, man.

As someone born in 1973, I now feel ancient.

I still would say I have more in common with you than someone born in 1996, but that’s getting close to edgy teenager “does anyone feel like they were born in the wrong generation?!” territory.

Why?

Because Apple sucks.

Quite a few developers and IT people would disagree with your assessment 😃 Most of the best software you see these days — not just the best native apps, but web sites — is built using Apple hardware. There are reasons why Microsoft has been racing to make its core products, like .NET and SQL Server, cross-platform, while adding bash and other Unix-y things to their own stack. If you’d suggested MS would be porting SQL Server to run on Linux even 5 years ago, you would’ve been laughed out of the room.

At my company, you only get Windows hardware if you request it, and then all your team members hate you because getting everything up and running on your machine is a chore.

Don’t get me wrong. Windows 10 is a good OS and I use it on my gaming rig, because as great as Macs are, they’re still pointless for real gaming. But I still think the best Windows laptop is a MacBook Pro running Bootcamp 😉

My new favorite editor is VS Code, btw.

I might be wrong but I believe Tyr’s comment was more anti-yhwx than anti-Apple.

Pretty much.

I couldn’t let it go unchallenged, even if it meant defending yhwx.

Give yourself a one day ban for that.

It’s like voting for one candidate purely to keep the other out of office!
