Help Wanted: 35mm print request - Deadly Friend (1986) & Fright Night Part II (1988)
Time

Fright Night II already has an outstanding Preservation on Blu Ray.  Check out this thread...

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Fright-Night-Part-II-1988-RELEASED/topic/15710/

I'm not going to say that you potentially wouldn't benefit from a 35mm print, as it's always nice to have new material for comparisons sake, but considering how good this one is, I'd definitely focus on your other film, Deadly Friend first.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah the 2D shots that are in that version I created could not be helped at the time. Without the other eye print available in some of the shots, its either present it in 2D or convert it, which I don't have the ability to do myself. I was thinking of checking the version on Vudu to see if it matches the Blu-Ray print. Wouldn't it be amazing if it was the the right-eye print?

I would love to revisit this project. Send me your notes on here and I will take a look at what I have. Whatever I do, it will have to be done from scratch... but I think I have been away from this for long enough that the sting of having to recreate it doesn't hurt so much.

I would also love to work on creating a full-on blu-ray of this. I'm good at creating standard 2D blu-rays with menus, extras, commentary, etc. But 3D is a bit tricky. Do you guys think there would be someone out there with the skills to do 3D blu-ray authoring that would be down to help out with this project?

Wow, I'm glad to see you back on the boards, I didn't think I'd cross paths with you again!  I know that there would be a substantial amount of us that would love to assist you in any way that we can if it meant we could get this project rolling again and even closer to a finished project.

So I seem to remember a few months back Dark_Jedi you were in the market for a new Blu Ray player.  Did you ever get one?  I've been toying with the idea of picking up a new player myself here in the near future and was curious what player you ended up going with.  I still swear by my PS3 but have considered an Oppo, Pioneer Elite, Denon or Marantz player.  My biggest concern right now is what players are both 3d Capable and easily play BD-R's out of the box.  Streaming and apps are of no use to me, so I'd prefer a player that's of a much higher build quality over something that has a bunch of apps that i won't use on it (which is why I've been leaning toward the aforementioned brands and their nice look/build).  Just curious what you ended up going with or what your research uncovered.

Sooooooo Happy to see another new Horror Related Team Blu Release in time for Halloween!  I've grabbed this already and all printed/burned and only briefly gave it a quick look, but it's in all likelihood being saved for my Marathon which starts September 18th and run's through Halloween.  From the very small glimpse thus far though this looks like another stellar release!

Hey Guys this will be my last post on this, Vinnie has given us a friendly reminder that our SeedBox time is coming up pretty fast, we are already roughly half way through our 3 months so if anyone at all wants to help keep this going please PM me and I will give you the details, the last time I posted we got only 2 takers, so lets see what we can do, but please keep in mind you are NOT obligated at all to help out, so where we are now is we should get Trick or Treat up in time, but Night of The Living Dead 1968 SE and UE probably not.

Here is what our cost is again as well, it is $20 month

as I said at the start of this post, I will not bring this up again, I do not want to hound on this, if we can keep it great, if not well I guess we are back to square 1.

Thanks

My offer still stands from our previous conversation.  If Nothing else I can at least keep it going for a few extra months.  It'd be nice to get some help though as I doubt I'll want to fund it entirely myself for very long.

From the beginning this looked like a problem with the torrent creation itself.  The fact that the Usenet and the master files don't show any issues seems to confirm that.  Here is the error code location from when I try to rip just the main movie.  Ignore the "Operation was cancelled" bit.

Error 'Internal error - Operation was cancelled (112)' occurred while reading '/BDMV/STREAM/00114.m2ts' at offset '16399011840'

EDIT: Video Removed

OK to all of you that PM'd me before wanting to help keep this SeedBox going, Vinnie said the price is $20 a month so if those of you that sent me a message before are still interested in keeping us alive and well at BT please send me a PM now and we can work out the details, Jason Goes to Hell is out now and Trick or Treat is coming up real soon, followed by Night of The Living Dead 1968 Special & Ultimate Editions.

Some titles in the works,
The Black Hole
Scream Uncut (possibly, need to get sources)
Transformers The Movie
and many, many more.....

Thanks

I'm still down for helping out and will PM this week.  As for Jason goes to Hell... the upload on BT has an issue.  I and another user over their have experienced a problem during the final few minutes of the film.  At 1 Hour 20 minutes and 31 Seconds the film suddenly freezes and jumps ahead to the end of the film, returning the user to the main menu skipping the final 10 minutes of the film.  It has happened on my North American PS3 which has had 0 issues with every other Team Blu Release, as well as on my pc.  I first noticed the problem when trying to rip the main movie file to create a smaller streamable 720p encode that I use for my home media server.  Using Makemkv the program would hang during the last few seconds of the rip.  Thinking it may be the disc I created, I tried ripping the files directly but ran into the same issue.

The release is otherwise outstanding, but as it is currently, the main film  is unfortunately broken.  Hopefully the issue is with the files that were uploaded and as such it can be fixed/re-uploaded.  I encourage others who have downloaded the film from BT to check their BD-R's to confirm the issue.

@Space Kaijuu,

You can use tsMuxeR to create a Blu-ray folder with the new video you want to add in.  (Do the movie and short separately.)  You'll want to make sure you have the same number and order of audio and subtitle tracks as well (even if you blank them later).

Under the Blu-ray tab, there is an area that says 'Options'.  Here you can set the first MPLS and first M2TS.  Set these numbers to correspond with numbers on the Blu-ray you are rebuilding.

Next you need to copy the .M2TS from new STREAMS folder, the .CLPI from new CLIPINF folder (will be the same number as the .M2TS), and the corresponding .MPLS from new PLAYLISTS into the old BD structure.

The .MPLS isn't usually the same number as the .M2TS and if you don't know it you can use BDEdit or various other tools to find it.  (If you want info on this let me know.)

You'll also want to replace the same CLPI & MPLS files in the BACKUP folder as well.

It's... not really simple.

Bumping this quote as it contains the needed instructions.

Anyone have the full retail BD50 with the Uncensored version inserted into it? I can't find it. I have the mkv Uncensored, but I'd like the full retail BD with the Uncensored version. I can reinsert it if I have to, I have the official BD release.

There is no full retail retail BD version of this.

I meant a custom where someone took the ripped retail BD and inserted the Uncensored version. Keeping all menus and such. If you meant there is no custom like that, then okay.

There were some instructions on how to do this yourself posted a few pages back.  I can re-post them if you'd like.  I still haven't picked up the Retail BD so I've held off on burning the uncensored version until I can recreate the Retail BD with this in it's place.

I recently upgraded from a Panasonic BDT-230PK to an Oppo BDP-103, and while I loved them both, the upgrade was very much worth it.

Though I could see the Oppo as actually being a problem with testing, as it can take just about anything you throw at it, which would defeat the purpose of seeing if there are errors with lesser players.

Does your Oppo play BD-R's?  I've read before that Oppo's removed BD-R Functionality.  As for recommendations, I stand by the PS3.  It literally plays everything, is as quick as any player on the market, isn't hugely expensive (oppo I'm looking at you) has network functionality and so much more.  Pick up a $20 remote and you're good to go.  As much as I'd like a traditional Standalone, the PS3 is just too good of a player with so much more to offer that I don't think I could choose anything else.

OK Guys I have a little info, Vinnie at BT will provide a BT SeedBox for about 3 months then after that it is up to us to keep it afloat, he said it will be $40 a month, I can get the size and speed from him later and post it but at this time we are still ironing things out and we are still not ready at the moment to upload there, hopefully soon we can kick things into gear and get more going at BT.

In the meantime I have started uploading Jason Goes to Hell Unrated to Usenet, so all you Usenet people can rejoice lol you will be getting our latest first, but truth be told I hate Usenet and my ISP sucks uploading to it, so hopefully we will not need to use this method but this 1 time lol.

Thanks, and when we are ready at BT I will upload there to for sure as well.

*password is KHodder

I just grabbed this off Usenet and based on my initial impression it is glorious. It has a ton of extras and the transfer of the movie looks very nice. When I get a chance to check this out thoroughly I will post a review.

I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions while I wait for this to show up on BT.  This was my most anticipated release since hearing about it way back in 2013, so the fact that the wait is almost over for me is almost to good to be true.

Worth it to you, maybe not, for me, HELL YES! we have improved on even the best source and we will have 3 versions and try and have all extras on 1 release, so is this worth it? for us it is a no brainer, our sources are the Happinet, Splendid and color version.

This sounds an awful lot like what you did with NOTLD '90.  That was an amazing release and if this uses that format we're in for a real treat!

Can we get Night of The Living Dead 1990 Special Edition back in action?

I imagine it will go back up briefly when the seedbox is reinstated.  How long it stays up is anyone's guess however if there isn't enough support to keep the box running.  Hopefully some more of the long term fans of Team Blu's work will consider chipping in to keep the box running once they've become aware that things are about to pick up again with the recent announcement.

OK to those interested,
Jason Goes to Hell Unrated is finished, or I guess I should call it Jason Goes to Hell Unrated the Kane Hodder Tribute Edition lol, we really have some really cool shit on here with him, he is a very cool dude and some of us on the Team actually had the chance to meet and get a pic with him lol.

Well anyways when I figure out how to share then I will post here how you can get it.

Thanks

*edit, also regarding The Black Hole, I have no intentions of not including the overture/intro, I just wanted to read how others stood regarding this, I personally love it.

My Eyes will be glued to the site!

On a Somewhat related note, after watching Kickboxer last night...

I decided to make tonight "Ninja Night" and am currently doing a Marathon of Team Blu's Release of The Ninja Trilogy.

Wouldn't happen for quite a while though, I have a huge Star Wars backlog.

Good things come to those that wait... or something.  :D

Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to complete a scan of a full film?I think I read about it last year before AMPS jumped boards twice, but I can't remember now.  Reading about your scanner acquisition was probably the most interesting post on all of AMPS.

I have access to HDTV airings of the films from IFC last Summer.  I've only actually taken the time to rip Jaws the revenge so far (the rest are still on my cable box), but in it's raw form (complete with commercials and in 1080i format) it's 12.1 GB in size.  I was having problems with my Cable signal around this time, and I actually recorded them twice in an effort to clear up digital artifacts.  I believe these 2nd rips are of better quality, but I actually haven't watched any of these presentations, so i can't promise they're all that great.

I rip things in 1080i at 13mbps (the highest settings my capture device supports).  I know AMC has been showing the films lately as well and I could capture fresh airings from there if need be also (assuming that the films are shown again).  The HDTV airings didn't look like upscales to me, but I can't state that definitively.  I'm happy to help as long as I'm given access to the final product (and preferably if you could organize them into a BDMV format as I'd like to create BD-R's.)

Sure, any help is appreciated and I will upload the final BD-Rs to the spleen. Are the films cropped with logos on AMC and IFC?

The IFC logo comes on and eventually fades away for a bit.  Sadly it's there for quite a bit of the movie if I'm not mistaken.  The AMC broadcasts don't have any logos from what i remember but I don't have captures of those at the moment.  I'd have to record them the next time they air.  I initially went with the IFC captures as at the time this was the only place airing the films in HD that I was aware of as I don't have any premium movie channels, and I also know that IFC doesn't edit their films for content, so i was guaranteeing myself uncensored versions, something I doubt AMC does.  I never planned to make them into a full on project as I figured at some point official discs would be released, and for me this would suffice until that time.  The films were all presented in 1.78:1.
