I have a strong suspicion that this is going to end up being an experiment in interactive storytelling. ILMxLab has been developing games for a while now and the extremely generic way they described the protagonist during the presentation is what you’d do if you want the viewer/player to assume that role.

Netflix already has a couple of interactive experiences with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Minecraft: Story Mode. So I could see Disney+ wanting to experiment with it as well.

Not really a bad thing overall, with alongside the rest of the scene, and how action has been treated previously on the show, this seemed really over the top to me.

Stormtrooper armor shattering from blunt impact was established back in Rogue One. Though admittedly it was done a bit subtler there.

I haven’t read the comic in question but is it not possible they were just in a polar region of the planet? Its appearance in The Mandalorian is more consistent with the traditional depiction of the planet in Legends.

It’s confirmed we’ll be getting another season of The Gallery once this season of Mando is over. I imagine they’ll definitely cover that there.

I’ve finally gotten the chance to play all three chapters of Vader Immortal.

It was a great experience! I played on an Oculus Quest and so I was able to play using roomscale. So I could actually walk around in the environments wirelessly. Incredibly immersive.

The environments were very well fleshed out. It felt like everything had a genuine history to it. All of the characters were interesting. Vader was very intimidating. This really made me want to finally jump into Charles Soule’s Vader comic series.

The sound design was superb. I just used the built-in headset speakers and the soundscape alone had me immersed. Fantastic directional audio.

It was a great time, I’d highly recommend it to anyone if you have an opportunity to play it!

I think you and I might be the only ones to think this, BUT YES! I’m hoping so hard that they confirm that they’re Chubbits.

For years I’ve had a bone to pick with the EU over labeling Gribbet (also from the comic strip) a Rybet instead of a Chubbit. He looks nothing like any other Rybets. It was a stupid retcon created by someone at Star Wars Galaxy Magazine that didn’t do their research. Anyway yes, I’m on the Chubbit train. =P

In the online red carpet premiere for the season Favreau mentions that they now have access to the costumes and props from Elstree in addition to the stuff they had access to at Skywalker/The Presidio. And if you go back and pay extra attention to the background aliens in season 1, there are a fair few original costumes but they also recycled a lot from the films as well. The Constable Zuvio guard among them.

It was fantastic seeing Timothy Olyphant in Star Wars.

It reminded me of a TV spot he did for Justified where he discusses the SE.

On the topic of Krayt Dragons. The EU had a distinction between the two types of Krayt Dragon long before it was retired.

There are Canyon Krayt Dragons. They’re the typical depiction you’d expect to see in various EU media. They’re described as:

The canyon krayt was a common species of krayt dragon that lived in the rocky caves and canyons of Tatooine’s desert ranges. More often than not, the term “krayt dragon” referred to this lifeform. Patterns of horns and spikes appears to have varied from individual to individual.

Compared with the Greater Krayt Dragon. That are based on the Krayt Dragon skeleton we actually see in SW77. They’re described as:

The greater krayt was a rarer, larger species of krayt dragon, known for its tremendous size and continual growth over time. Creatures of near legendary status, greater krayt dragons had ten legs, measured at least 100 meters from snout to tail tip and had the ability to move through or on Tatooine’s desert sand.

If I had to pick, I’d say what we saw in Mandalorian was a Greater Krayt.

It just occurred to me that Ahsoka should technically be a year or two younger than her birth-date would suggest considering the whole world-between-worlds thing in Rebels where she essentially skips ahead in time. Not that this is particularly important, but I figured I’d mention it.

She actually only skipped minutes of time. When she was pulled out of that moment the clock kept running on that portal so when she returns through it she’s back on Malachor but only minutes have passed. Which is why we see her limping away back into the temple at the end of Twilight of the Apprentice. That’s the her that just returned from the world between worlds.

These are actually from a recreation of the Mos Eisley cantina for a television commercial. Unfortunately the commercial (for Volkswagen) seems to have been taken off the internet.

The finale of Lower Decks was legitimately a fun time. Hopefully season two can maintain that kind of quality.

Alright, I am mad at Star Wars fans again… Did ANYONE really think that they would plan out the three movies fully in advance? The originals didn’t do that… the PREQUELS didn’t do that.

The difference is that both the OT and the PT were created from the singular vision of one person. They had other writers and artists that contributed massively but it was all done under the approval of a single person, George Lucas.

The Sequel Trilogy had no singular vision. Each film was done in a vacuum with the next one being written while the previous was still in production. There is no cohesion between them. And that is why they fail.

With just a little planning this mess could have been avoided. To make it work, all they needed to do was figure out who their writers and directors were going to be and then sit them all down in a room together to figure out what the overarching story would be. Hash out the big picture ahead of time instead of doing it all piecemeal.

But they didn’t do that and this is the result.
