OK, here's the comparison video. The color correction is just a temporary, one setting for the whole clip kind of deal but you'll see there's much more going on here than just color correction.
Love the restored original compositing. Really looking forward to ESB:DE 2.0! =D

So far we've got:
-Michael Kaplan as costume designer. He's not only worked with Abrams on Star Trek '09 and the sequel, he also did the costumes for Blade Runner!
-Chiang and McCaig coming back as concept designers.
-Williams doing the music, which should've always been a foregone conclusion.
We're still awaiting confirmation of who the production designer and the cinematographer will be.
There's also:
-Lawrence Kasdan as a writer. He was reported as just consulting on VII but Kathleen Kennedy has referred to him as one of the writers.
-Michael Arndt as a writer. Pretty sure he's the lead writer.
-Simon Kinberg as a writer/producer?

In the comments, someone mentions they were at some event with Phil Tippett and he mentioned he was working on some super secret project that in all likelihood is Ep7.
I hope that's true. I wish they'd bring back Joe Johnston as well.
Sadly, it's confirmed that Doug Chiang is back. I dunno, maybe he'll bring his designs in line with the OT. =/

I was only there one day, but it was pretty good. Unfortunately the "important" panels (Kathleen Kennedy, Carrie Fisher) were pretty much scripted. Other panels (Ben Burtt, Doug Chiang) were open for audience questions (and really informative - especially Burtt showing some of his private Super8 films from the making of the movies, including going through the landfill behind Elstree, where he showed stuff like the trashed Falcon and even stumbling across a wall from The Well of Souls).
I was afraid of that. That's how it was at CV. My favorite panel there was with Robert Watts. He was filled with all kinds of awesome stories.
I hope someone filmed that panel, it sounds awesome.

So I completed my run through of Battlestar Galactica a couple weeks ago and just took my first dip into Galactica 1980. So.....I take it a lot of time has passed since the original series. Boomer is an officer now.
Maybe I zoned out or something but who the heck is this Jamie woman? Troy and whatshisface go into town and when they get back that general is searching for them and this Jaime woman is with him. As soon as she gets the chance she addresses Troy by name and knows who they are. I thought she must have been from the Galactica at first but no she's just an earthwoman. When the heck did she meet Troy?
Edit: No wonder I'm confused! Netflix doesn't have the series opener. What the heck!

Yes but it's increasingly the case that while your local multiplex will have both 3D and 2D. The 3D film willl be on at 12.00, 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00, 5.00, 6.00, 7.00, 8.00 and 9.00pm. The 2D will be on once a day on a medium size screen at 9pm. It's a simple scam, if you make seeing the film at half price difficult enough then people will just give in and pay double. I've seen it happen recently with STID, Man Of Steel and Iron Man 3.
You must have some really crappy local theaters. The theaters here schedule based on demand and so both 2D and 3D start on equal footing only for the 3D to slowly whittle away while the 2D showings remain strong.
It sounds like your theater manager wants to squeeze out as much money as he can after paying for the 3D equipment.

I have no problems with Ryan Gosling. If anyone would like a good sample of his work I'd highly recommend Drive.
Efron is pretty iffy to me but I haven't really seen anything of his so I don't know.
This'll likely just end up being another baseless rumor that we'll all forget about in time. =P

I would unrecommend Truce at Bakura. Sure it picks up right after ROTJ but it's so terribly written and from what I can recall nothing in it ever becomes relevant again. There is one poignant scene with Leia but that in no way makes the entire book worth it.

It will be interesting to see how Kathleen Kennedy handles the question, which is sure to come up, at the big convention next week. I think this is her first appearance. I hope she doesn't get scared off. She looks out on a sea of guys arguing about prequels and special editions, mutters "I've made a huge mistake."
I doubt it will come up. I've been to two Celebrations and both were filled to the gills with the GEORGE CAN DO NO WRONG crowd. I made it a point to frequently ask people whenever I was waiting in line for something about the OUT and the vast majority didn't even know it was an issue or care. Maybe our European counterparts will be different but I'm not holding my breath.

One of the tradegedies of modern film in the last few decades is the erradication of the art of voice acting.
It's hardly been eradicated. The voice acting industry is alive and well in both television and video games. Though I do lament the film industry's neglect of so much talent.

I'll never understand why they decided to add the thing with the drink in the comic. Am I supposed to believe he drinks through the grill in his mask or something?
The comic was being done way ahead of the finished film, nothing was set in stone yet. Vader could probably guide the liquid with the Force if there was no mechanical straw apparatus in there. There did seem to be straw like appendages near his mouth when the mask came off in Jedi.
And I'm giving this way more thought than when I was a kid. ;)

But as I said they can't land at all.
You can thank Doug Chiang for that. Leave it to George to hire the guy who takes pride in claiming that after he first saw Star Wars he ran home to redesign all the ships to his own liking. Have never liked any of Doug Chiang's Star Wars work. Not the ships and especially not the droids.
