So Ezra's another Jedi in training? How many of them are there going to be in this show anyway?

I like the idea of a kid discovering his connection with the Force. How many of us didn't imagine ourselves doing the same when we were younger?

It's Kanan that I have issues with. As Tyr mentioned, I hope he doesn't stick around long.

I started watching Caprica but just couldn't do it. I hate that actress who plays the daughter. She just rubs me the wrong way.

Funnily enough, I just started watching Twin Peaks as well. I was intrigued because Netflix had recommended it a while back when I was doing my run through of the X-Files. But I kept putting it off. Then I started to play Alan Wake and remembered hearing that a lot of that game was inspired by Twin Peaks. So I've been playing a chunk of Alan Wake every day and then watching around two episodes of Twin Peaks immediately after.

I'm a big fan of both now and highly recommend Alan Wake to any Twin Peaks fans.

What do you HATE about the EU?

O_o Um okay.

So, Vader invades Kashyyyk to hunt down a reported Jedi that had been living there among the Wookiees. He does so and then discovers the Jedi had a son. Instead of killing the child he decides to take it with him.

He raises the child as his own secret apprentice in the hopes of one day overthrowing the Emperor. To ensure that he puts the kid through some crazy savage training to bring out the highest Darkside Force potential. Because the Emperor is no joke.

Vader uses his Secret Apprentice to hunt down the remaining Jedi that escaped the purge. Eventually the Emperor finds out about the Apprentice, or he knew about him all along. Either way, he orders Vader to betray his Apprentice but to keep him alive so that he might escape.

Why? Because the Emperor knows with his training he'll want to seek his revenge. And to take on the Empire you'll need an army. So the ultimate goal is to let Starkiller draw out the hidden Rebel leaders that have lead pocket Rebellions so that they can be eliminated.

Of course the plan backfires, and those leaders that had been separate before unite and form the Rebel Alliance.

In his memory they adopt his family crest as the symbol of the Alliance:

He gave them Hope.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread

Yeah, Han has some bad luck when it comes to Ord Mantell and bounty hunters...

This is what I consider to be the canon encounter.

However, if it were up to me. My personal way of telling the story would have been to have Han encounter Boba Fett on Ord Mantell and end the story with some Rebel soldier sacrificing himself to save Han from a disintegration shot from Boba.

This is an interesting observation.

But not all that surprising. The entire show is taking inspiration from the early pre-ESB era. Heck they've even confirmed that the show is going to have the awesome Imperial Troop Carrier toy as a real vehicle.

My problem with the inquisitor is that he's Darth Vader with everything that makes Darth Vader awesome stripped away.

Also, in this era, there should only be two Jedi and two Sith.

Jedi that escaped the purge have been a part of the EU for ages. What rankles me is that it's supposed to be Vader who is hunting down the remaining Jedi but they keep cooking up side characters to do the job for him.

As for only two Sith, that hasn't changed. Just because the Inquisitor wields a red lightsaber doesn't make him a Sith. A Darkside user at best. Unless you want to claim that Mara Jade was a Sith while working as the Emperor's Hand.

Introducing Kanan...

Uh this is going to suck... as I predicted.

An awful copy of Kyle Katarn.

I'll reserve judgement until I actually see a completed episode or two.

My thoughts exactly.

Begs the question; Why the hell didn't they just go with Kyle Katarn?

This is set like what 14 years before ANH? I don't think Kyle has even joined the Imperial Academy at this point. The JK games are all set post-ROTJ.

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?
Time

I don't know if it was trolling so much as indifference. I kind of imagine it going something like this.

Lucasfilm: Hey George, we're going to be releasing the original trilogy on blu-ray soon. Was there anything else you'd like to update for this release? It'd probably up the value for the collectors. You know how they are.

George: Um....well. I never was happy with that Krayt dragon call. Oh and I was always disappointed we couldn't find the right rock on location for Artoo to hide behind. I was never quite happy with Marquand's delivery of the death of the Emperor...needs more emotion somehow....OH and you're going to start work on the 3D releases soon right? Why not see what you can do with Jabba's door or something so we can get that out of the way now.

I honestly believe people inside Lucasfilm would just go up to George and ask for suggestions and then take whatever he came up with on the spot as law. What lead to the fall of 1313.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**

I wonder how long it'll be before they have to revise their "canon" to accommodate more changes made to the mythos.

Probably be years before something like that could happen. The group literally has a hand in everything that is coming out. Including the movies. So it's highly unlikely the EU will take another beating like it did during the PT era. That is once Episode VII drops and we see where all the Post-ROTJ material falls. After that it should be smooth sailing.
