The Mandalorian - Star Wars live action TV series : Non Spolier thread
Time

Someone mentioned somewhere that the show would touch on the subject and the internet blew up about it.

Jedit: This looks to be the source of it: The Mandalorian to explore the origins of the First Order

Here’s the relevant quote from Dave as I suspected:

This doesn’t turn into a good guy universe because you blew up two Death Stars. You get that the Rebels won and they’re trying to establish a Republic, but there’s no way that could have set in for everybody all at once. You have in a Western where you’re out on the frontier and there might be Washington and they might have some marshals, but sometimes good luck finding one.

Also, what could happen in the 30 years between celebrating the defeat of the Empire and then the First Order? You come in on Episode VII, [the First Order are] not just starting out. They’re pretty far along, pretty well equipped. So somehow, things weren’t necessarily managed as well as they could have been if [the galaxy] ended up in hot water again like that.

So that quote got conflated into The Mandalorian is a First Order origin story.

Was increasingly excited for this series in a hopeful way but hearing it will explore the origins of the First Order really killed most of that excitement and I’m just clinging to hope that maybe it’s just one episode that delves into it with only the very occasional random reference here and there. If it’s part of the central story arc then this series is in the bin for me before it even started…

Given this series was conceived and written by Favreau I very much doubt the birth of the FO plays any big part. He’s all about the OT era. Mentions and minor threads tying to the FO I would peg as contributions by Dave to try to help tie things together.

Dark Empire (Fan Web Series)
Time

If you’re a fan of the EU and wish we could have seen some of it adapted for the screen. This just might be for you.

An animator is working on adapting the Dark Horse comic Dark Empire as an animated web series.

He’s just released the first episode a few days ago:
Dark Empire Episode 1: The Destiny of a Jedi

As a bonus here’s also:

Disney+ streaming platform : Star Wars content & various other info
Time

When it launched in the Netherlands, the Clone Wars movie was categorized under “Specials” instead of with the films. I don’t blame them. =P

Jedit: It looks like they might have updated the article. The Clone Wars movie is now listed after ROTS in the films section.

But Tim Curry’s performance on the latter seasons stuck out like a sore thumb.

Yeah Ambercrombie was fantastic but I’m really hoping they got McDiarmid to redo Curry’s stuff. But I doubt it, it was probably just this quick scene and maybe new material for the new season of Clone Wars.

They’ve redubbed the Emperor with Ian McDiarmid for The Siege of Lothal

I have so many questions.

I figure it’s the same situation as to how they got Frank Oz for Rebels. They asked for some additional lines while they were already in the studio for other things.

I really wish I could hear them one after the other to better appreciate the comparison

Here’s the original performance by Sam Witwer.

Kevin Feige Developing New Star Wars Movie

‘Star Wars’ Shocker: Marvel’s Kevin Feige Developing New Movie for Disney

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy “is pursuing a new era in ‘Star Wars’ storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a ‘Star Wars’ film together,” Walt Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn tells The Hollywood Reporter.

To the surprise of no one, Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan. It might surprise many, however, that the Marvel Studios chief is going to be developing a Star Wars movie as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy makes new plans for a wave of projects set in the universe, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Feige had discussed a foray into the Star Wars universe in a late summer meeting with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman, sources say. In response to a query from THR, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Horn said, “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
