The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Welp!

I went ahead and watched the DC of Daredevil (2003) before diving into the new series. And immediately regretted wasting the first two hours I could have spent watching the series once I finished the first episode. Not the least of which because we had to be up early the next day so could only squeeze in a single episode last night.

Just judging from the first episode, I have to say I'm definitely looking forward to watching the rest of the season. It started off strong and they squeezed every ounce out of the small budget they had to work with. The writing was excellent and the performances were solid.

I'm hoping as the season goes on we get a better sense of when exactly in the timeline this series fits. As just based on the first ep it could be just a few months after the Battle of New York. Also, I'm hoping for some more solid ties between the films and AoS. Perhaps we'll actually get to see Creel in a flashback.

So here's hoping I'll be able to jump back in later tonight!

Should The Off Topic Section be more moderated?

unfortunately for ignore to work, a united front is needed, that can be difficult to get.   If you don't have everyone putting the troll, all that happens is that those that do have a hard time understand what is going on in conversations.  I just think light moderation done by someone reasonable(not me),  could solve some of these problems with trolls very quickly.

I'm not just saying pretend their posts don't exist. I mean actually use the ignore list function of this forum so that their posts are blocked for you.

Increasing the level of moderation for this sub-forum is like giving someone Oxycodone for a light headache.

I don't recall ever being captured by bandits and being given a blood transfusion by force as a means of execution in Minecraft. =P

True story by the way, luckily it just so happened that I was compatible with the blood and survived. They were very disappointed and ended up leaving with all of my stuff and spared me. That was in the first 20 minutes of ever having played.

Star Wars Digital HD Release .... April 10th
Time

On the plus side the comments sections for all of the trailers are filled with people saying if it's not the theatrical editions they're going to pass.

The flip side to that though are comments like these:

All the endless whining has made me want to see the original cuts all burned to spite the over the top whiners, you guys act like Lucas murdered your family because he changed a few scenes.

What a surprise, most of the comments are about the original cuts. MOVE ON PEOPLE. After 18 years of whining you'd think you'd of got the message by now, Lucas prefers the what he sees as completed versions of HIS movies unfinished due to the limitations of the time. I can't see Disney/Lucasfilm disrespecting his wishes. You have more chance of the Holiday Special. I have the original cuts, I choose to watch the blu-rays. Time to move along.. move along..

old people we love you. But please be quiet and enjoy the glorious film in glorious 4k. Sincerely not old people

cue the entitled old farts asking for the unfinished versions of these movies.

A bit disturbing to say the least...

The new Star Wars comics - a general discussion thread
Time

Oh definitely, Williamson was the best Star Wars comic artist there ever was. Wheatley is the closest we have to a modern equivalent and I'm saddened that we might not get another comic illustrated by the man. Though he's worked for both Marvel and DC in the past, so never say never.

That said, of the four titles Marvel has put out thus far, Larraz is the best artist we've seen from them. The architecture reminds me a lot of Wheatley's work and feels authentic to the world. I think Curiel the colorist deserves a lot of credit as well for the atmosphere.

Kanan: The Last Padawan #1

Finally, this is what you get when you hire an actual writer! This first issue was great. Top-notch writing from Weisman, I'm really sad that he's since left the series but I hope he continues to write for their comics.

Pepe Larraz's art is stupendous. Every panel feels vibrant and alive. The layout gives the issue this kinetic reading experience that feels like you're watching it all unfold in real time.

I hope once Marvel saw the level of quality that can be achieved with this issue they started to hold it up as the standard for the rest of their titles. Because as it stands, this is leagues ahead of everything else they've put out to date.

That's some damn fine coffee. Twin Peaks is returning to TV!:)
Time

Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on ‘Twin Peaks.’ After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. ‘Twin Peaks’ may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of ‘Twin Peaks’ and wish things could have worked out differently.

We were saddened to read David Lynch’s statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. SHOWTIME also loves the world of ‘Twin Peaks’ and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.
