4K restoration on Star Wars

1)Why is this all one image?

2)A lot of that is just hebrew man. If you take the letters at the bottom of Vader's chestplate and plug 'em into google translate it reads "until he won". There's a mem in another pic and an aleph in another. So yeah a lot of it is just hebrew.

1)Because it was easier to slap them all into one image than uploading a bunch of images individually.

2)Inspired by it, probably, but is not actually Hebrew. And that's a myth that it can be translated as such.

In case you ever wanted to really know what Artoo was saying to Anakin. ;)

And I do not want to see the bunny skyscraper in this thread...

Aurebesh is pretty much an invention of the EU. West End Games created it for their d20 RPG. It's based off of the display read-out on the Second Death Star when they're vetting the shuttle Tydirium.

It only appears in that one read-out in ROTJ, while the rest of the OT used a couple of different writing forms. Including the writing on Vader's chestplate that changes between ESB and ROTJ and also shows up on the control panels on the speeder bikes. In ESB, when Artoo speaks to Luke it's a kind of garbled english lettering.

Anyway, Lucasfilm proper found Aurebesh handy and has since used it in all of their video productions to date, including The Force Awakens. Which is fine to a point, but I've always felt they should be more diverse like the OT.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Time

More than 90% of CA:TFA takes place in the '40s with only present day bookends. It's a pretty interesting experience going from defrosting Cap to then going to the end of Iron Man and Fury telling him, "You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet."

Anyway, as I said it's a chronological list. The actual release order is a bit different. =P

It also leaves out the supposedly canon tie-in comics.

As for prep for Avengers 2. Personally I'd stick to just Phase Two material.

So everything in that list from The Avengers on.

The one that gets the text on Vader's chestplate correct. =P

Seeing as that's the SW77 menu, there shouldn't be any text at all on his chestplate.

Then there should be two other variations for each ESB and ROTJ.

None of which would use Aurebesh, as while it's loosely based on a SINGLE screen from ROTJ, is mostly an invention of the EU.

The original trilogy actually had it's own alien font that was used over all three films on props and the sets that has since been forgotten.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

He looked fine in the Kingsman:

The only thing with Mark is that his voice has gotten a little guttural with age.

I don't watch The Flash but isn't that version of the Trickster supposed to be old and a little ragged from being locked in prison for years?

Either way, I'm sure he'll be looking rather Old Benesque in the film:

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

There's a great article all about that:

How Disney Bought Lucasfilm—and Its Plans for 'Star Wars'

The gist of it is that he was getting ready to retire and knew selling to a parent company was the best bet to make sure it survived without him. So he started working on an outline for a new trilogy of films to help sweeten the pot.

Disney XD Soars to Record 1Q Highs in Prime Time Among Total Viewers and Target Demographics

1Q 2015 was Disney XD's most watched 1Q ever in Primetime in Total Viewers (408,000) and across target Boys 2-11 (150,000/0.7 rating), Boys 6-11 (121,000/1.0 rating) and Boys 6-14 (154,000/0.8 rating) demographics, bolstered by the hit original animated series “Star Wars Rebels” and “Gravity Falls” and the live action original series “Lab Rats.” In the U.S., the advertiser-supported Disney XD channel launched in February 2008.

During 1Q15, “Star Wars Rebels” reached an impressive 33 million Total Viewers across Disney XD and Disney Channel, including 8.1 million Kids 6-11 and 4.4 million Boys 6-11, representing over one-third of all Boys 6-11 in the U.S.

Star Wars Sound Effects Archive - A collection of SW sounds for use in Fan Edits (* unfinished project *)
Time

Well that would certainly be useful to fan editors, it would be pretty superfluous to other Star Wars fan projects like audio plays, fan films and games.

If it's that the kind of stuff that is holding up the release, I would humbly suggest creating a secondary archive for that kind of material. It would hopefully help to usher the release of the project as a whole. As well as save hard drive space for others who are only interested in Star Wars specific resources.

But of course this is entirely your project and so that's all up to you! =)

The Random EU Thoughts Thread
Time

DuracellEnergizer said:

I'm admittedly biased against the modern EU, so you don't have to take my word for it, but yes, it had become that silly and convoluted. Case in point: Boba Fett falling into and having to escape from the sarlacc twice.

That misconception really bugs me as I've seen it pop up a few times now. The escape from the Sarlaac has been depicted twice and one of them was never considered canon.

The first time was in an issue of Marvel's Star Wars. Where Boba escapes but ends up back in the pit by the end of the story because Lucas caught wind of it and was adamant at the time that Boba was done.

Years later, for the Bounty Hunter novel trilogy they decided to finally depict his escape canonically.

But the Marvel story was never considered canon.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

My opinion of Abrams has been that he's a good director but an awful storyteller. He's always puts flash ahead of everything else.

Which is why I'm hoping having to work with Kasdan instead of his usual crew of hacks will result in the best output we've seen from him yet.

But things like the crossguard saber do not bode well.
