In the original game the Terran units had a much more metallic look. They had metallic sheens and seemed to be almost rusting. Going from that to this really makes their structures and ships look plastic. I really thought the Siege Tanks looked like Nerf guns.

Here's something funny:

StarCraft is my all time favorite PC game. In terms of the effect that gaming has had on my life, StarCraft has probably had more influence than any other game. Now the sequel has been officially revealed and I hope it will be good.

So far the graphics are a bit disappointing (I hate exaggerated, cartoon'ish features), but we'll see.

LOST

I generally glance over anything that seems like a spoiler. I like hearing speculation, but supposed inside info or words from the writers are not anything I want to see. Hell, I purposely skip commercials for the next episode to avoid what they would reveal too.

Metroid series
Time
I love this series. It's actually my favorite series of all time after Mega Man.

While the newer FPS games are good, they are nowhere near as fun as the original masterpieces. Super Metroid (Metroid 3) is the best game of the series and then I'd say the original for the NES is the second best. Metroid 2 for Game Boy is the third best. After that you can rank the current games in any way you like and I won't care.

Do the Jedi steal children?
Time
To touch on the religion aspect, I don't think Scruffy was saying that the Jedi religion or organization was inherently evil, but that perhaps the Jedi order had become too stagnant, dogmatic, and militant by the time of the republic's fall (according to the PT at least). In other words, from a particular point of view you could really make them all sound very corrupt.

Though I will say that I don't believe George was purposely formulating that lesson to the detail that Scruffy describes. I think he had some basics ideas as he wrote out the story and sort of ended up with some basic lessons that work in accordance with his currently-adopted, anti-war, supposedly-Buddhist beliefs. Most of the particulars that Scuffy mentioned were therefore unintentional.

ROFL, Scruffy! Perfect!

I wish ol George would go the extra mile and remake episodes IV, V and VI with all new actors, special effect, cheesy dialogue and all, and continue the story and just disregard the OT.

I don't think we're that lucky and I don't think the OT is either.

The Visual Effects Society Unveils “50 Most Influential Visual Effects Films of All Time”
Time
I like it that way. Let effects supervisors and technicians worry about impressive visuals, I want good stories where the visuals only serve to heighten our minds and emotions. The original Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back were perfect movies in this regard (especially ESB). The special effects were amazing for their time, but they took a lot of time and care to create and people naturally put their hearts and souls into the work as a result. Modern special effects are fed into a computer and spit back out in the space of a few hours, and nobody cares about the subtlety of the art.

Had the films been made in chronlogical order, it would have made more sense for Ben to raise (and train) Luke by himself on Tatooine instead of waiting twenty years in the shadows, and letting Luke bond with Owen and Beru. You don't put Luke in the same scenario as the padawan whose training you botched! Yoda could have raised Leia on Dagobah instead of putting her in potential peril of crossing paths with Palpatine and Vader too soon. Not that either one ever picks up Force vibes from the young Senator from Alderaan.

Those are really good points. We all know that George Lucas had an extremely different idea for Jedi training back when he wrote the original Star Wars. I wish he could have remained faithful to a lot of his ideas instead of tossing them aside so casually. While sometimes a dramatically new and fresh idea can be very compelling (like Darth Vader being Luke's father), going too far with that sort of approach can make a work of art too divided and messy. An artist needs to be faithful to his original vision or risk losing all focus. The irony is how George has been claiming to support his original vision as an excuse for his work to destroy the actual, cohesive vision that is realized in the films.

What an odd thread to say goodbye in. Well, Nanner, I thought your posts were generally very intelligent and I liked your sense of humor. May life treat you well.
