I only propose here to show some more scale elements as well. Rebels and the control room.

Good idea about the rebels and control room being in the shot, but the shiny cannon in your new mockup looks a little too "fake CGI" to me. Sorry Angel. :/

New video...

But in all seriousness, I've been recently inspired by everyone here in this thread to do some more work on my ROTJ Fan-O-Matic.

I had been fed up with Endor...Ewoks...timeline stuff....but I think I've found some new ideas that might work...we'll see ;)

Would have been more awesome if his lips matched the line better, but awesome nonetheless. LOVE the new line.

I just watched the early ESB:R trailer on the ANH:R DVD 9, and is it me, or does the Emperor's voice sound slightly slower and deeper than it was in the original film? I really like the slower and deeper version, but it appears to sound the same as the original voice on the new ESB:R trailer. Am I hearing things, or was this a scrapped idea?

 Anyone know about this?

Well, I think anyone who would say ANH:R surpasses even the 1977 version can only be referring to whether Adywan has restored the movie better than we have so far seen it. In that sense, it's a valid question, but if you mean he's made a better movie, then absolutely not.

That's basically what I mean. I'm not saying it's a better movie, just the best looking version of the movie I've ever seen. Although the better look of the movie in Revisited really does make the experience better for me. :)

Just curious, does anyone think that ANH:R surpasses even the 1977 version of Star Wars? I have great respect for the original film, but I think that ANH:R feels more "timeless" and is an excellent restoration of the movie. By this, I don't mean to downplay the immense amount of work Lucas put into Star Wars, but I think ANH:R is the best the movie EVER looked, SE or not.

*No bashing, please*

Ady, in the Luke/Vader ESB duel, after Luke sticks the smoking tube in Vader's face, he gets his lightsaber back and swings it at Vader, who blocks it. However, Luke and Vader's sabers should be rearranged, as Luke's blade should be on the RIGHT, and Vader's on the LEFT. As it is now, it looks like Luke is blocking Vader, instead of vice-versa. Can this be fixed?

There's actually no problem with that shot. Look at it in slow motion and you see that  Luke swings his saber then the first few frames he is still swinging it and Vader blocks it. Vaders is on the left and Lukes on the right.

Ah, ok, I understand now. Nevermind then.

So, how is everything coming along? What is being worked on now?

I really have no problem with the red R2. I haven't watched ANH that many times before seeing Revisited (maybe 3 times), and the new shot looks OK to me. Maybe since you guys have seen the original ANH a billion times, your memories interfere with believing the altered shot?

He may do that, he did it with the Ben/Vader fight in Star Wars. There's nothing wrong with the duels as such, just that the prequels had much better choreography and they make them look a little pedestrian.

I disagree. Aside from a few shots in Duel of the Fates, the PT lightsabre duels look contrived, rehearsed, and choreographed. Of course, that's because the duels in all of the Star Wars movies are in fact contrived, rehearsed, and choreographed, but the OT duels (aside from ANH, of course) don't look that way. In Luke's duels with Vader, it really looks like they're each trying to skewer one another. In the PT duels, it just looks like each contender is trying to swing his sabre around fancily and make contact with the other's blade.

Sure, the PT battles look pretty. So do acrobat routines, parades, and rock concert choreography, but there's no real danger to be found. I prefer my lightsabre duels to be a little more realistic and spontaneous, myself. The PT duels are many things to many people, but they certainly aren't spontaneous, or believable.

ABSOLUTELY. The PT duels are nowhere near as dangerous-looking as the Luke/Vader duel in ESB. The battles in the PT look like they're dancing.

Looks good, but... a bit too CGI-ish, I think. Good work, but maybe something could be done for the CG to not look so clean?

You are right. It's difficult. I made a version with a shaky camera movement, I think it looks better. I also added an orange tint to the smoke bursting from the eye.

http://rapidshare.com/files/256940038/DISINTEGRATE_4.mpg

Still CGI-ish. But I think that's all I can do on this shot  for now.

I think that's better, but you should take out the green lens flares, they scream CGI. Also, the background looks way too smooth and clean, as do the lights. Maybe it should be color-corrected to match the look of the originals? Otherwise, good job.
