You might need it if you're burning the DVD-9 to dual layer media using ImgBurn.

BUT, here is what you need to do:

1) Download WinRAR

2) Open the first file (should end in "part01.rar" or something similar) using WinRAR, then extract the ISO to wherever you want (it will automatically extract it from all of the parts, be patient and wait till it's all done)

3) If you're using Nero, or some other burning program, use "Burn image to disc" or similar, select the ISO file, and burn it to the Dual-Layered DVD

4) If you're using ImgBurn, you'll need to extract the ISO using the method described by Kurgan with DaemonTools, then take the files from VIDEO_TS_fixed.rar and drop them into the VIDEO_TS folder, REPLACING the existing files that are already in the folder.  Then, you can either make a new image (someone else will have to walk you through that), or use Nero to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to Dual-Layered media.

Or, if you're sick of trying to deal with all this, PM me and I can put you on my PIF chain.

OK, so it won't differ quality-wise which one I use, Nero or ImgBurn, right?

Also, how do you extract the ISO?

Where do you extract it to? Just a separate folder?

You only need to "Mount an image" if you're going to apply the "VIDEO_TS_fixed.rar" files to the ISO to burn with ImageBurn (that's for the DVD9 ONLY).

Daemon Tools is an easy program to use. You install it, run it, and then right click on the icon and it has the option to "mount" an image. You choose the ISO file and it turns it into a "virtual" (fake) dvd drive, as if there's a disc in there, but there isn't. Then you go to that fake "drive" and copy and paste the files onto your hard drive. Unrar the "fixed" files, and drag them into the same directory so they replace any files there. Then you burn it with Nero like you would any other DVD-Video.

But the Purist Edition needs none of that, you just double click on the rar file (winrar is installed so it'll automatically work) and extract the ISO from it. Then you fire up Nero and open the ISO and it's ready to "burn" (click the burn button, with your Dual Layer media in the proper drive of course).

Sorry, but what are the "VIDEO_TS_fixed.rar" files again?

So, you have to use Winrar or Daemon Tools to create an iso file before burning to DVD, correct? Does it matter which one I use?

No. Daemontools is only to mount an image. Use Winrar to unpack the rars to give you the ISO file, then burn

 What's "mounting an image"?

After downloading all the parts of the movie off Rapidshare, do I have to use Daemontools at all if I want to burn the film to DVD? Can someone tell me exactly what I do after downloading?

So there will be no Jabba's palace music number, or you will be reverting back to Lapti Nek with the static Sy Snootles puppet?

I think the best way to do that would be like what ADigitalMan did - 04 visuals re-cut and re-synced to Lapti Nek.  Maybe lose some of the 04 band characters...which ones, that's a judgment call.

No! Please! I'd rather see Adywan use the original Lapti Nek footage and add facial movements to Sy Snootles, Max Rebo and Droopy McCool like he did for the Cantina creatures in ANH:R.

Watching it on your computer is not the best way, but you can use Daemon Tools to mount the iso and watch it through that using your DVD software.  It might be laggy, but it'll work good enough if you really don't want to burn it to a DVD.

No, no, I DO want to burn it to DVD, but I still have to buy a Dual Layer burner, and for now I just want to check out the movie on my comp. So I just use Daemon Tools?

Rapidshare is still saying the same thing. This is an error on the site and not on my computer, right?

Is there anything I can do besides waiting?

If you are using firefox don't forget that you need to clear both caches. the internet cache in the cotnrol panel and the firefox one (tools> options>advanced>network) .if this doesn't work go into "control panel>internet options> general>temporary internet files>setting>view files" and delete everything out of there and try again. can't guarantee this will work but at least it will rule out your cache.

Nope, I only have IE.

Well, after searching the web, I've found that I'm not the only one who has this problem. Some RS users have complained about the same thing at the same time as others have, which means it's the site's fault. TPG caused this problem, because it uses a transparent proxy, meaning that multiple TPG users connecting to Rapidshare all appear to have the same IP address, and somehow my IP address got mixed up into this mess (even though I don't use TPG). The IP address thst RS detects is my modem's static IP, not my computer's dynamic IP, which is why I can't just reboot my computer and use a new IP address. I've tried turning off my modem for the night to see if RS's message would change over night, but when I logged on this morning, it's still telling me the same thing. I guess it's just a bug on the website, right? Any suggestions on what to do, or is all I can do is to wait?

I kinda like this edit... I'll explain more when people see/comment...

It's very nice, but you can tell that the line "He could destroy us" was taken from later in the conversation because the Emperor's voice slightly changes. Same with Vader's "He's just a boy" line, it has a slightly but noticeably different tone than the line before it. Other than that, I really like your version, especially how Palpy interrupts Vader.

Darth Vader looks like he has ADD though, because of the repeated clip of him fidgeting in your vid. LOL!

Oh, right...never mind.  Either way, with all RS downloads, every file is the same size except the last one which is usually smaller.  If you've got one in the middle that's a different size, it's a bad download.  Delete it and try again.

OK, I've deleted part 38 now.

However, I cannot re-download part 38 or download part 39 because RS is still insisting that my IP address is downloading a file at the moment. Could it be a temporary glitch on the Rapidshare site or does it have to do with my computer in particular?

Has this happened to anyone before?

Clearing the cache is for the part 38 problem.  As far as your IP address, try signing off/rebooting your machine.  Maybe your internet service will re-connect you on a different IP and you can continue.

How is clearing the cache going to solve the "part 38 problem"? That wasn't a problem, that was a question. I asked if the file size of part 38 is supposed to be smaller than the file size of parts 1-37.

As for rebooting my computer, then no, sadly that didn't help.

I am currently downloading the DVD-9 version at the moment, and I have a couple of questions:

1. I have just finished downloading the 38th part, whose size is 95,371 KB, while files 1 through 37 have a size of 102,400 KB. Is the smaller size of part 38 normal?

2. I'm trying to download part 39, but Rapidshare says:

"Your IP address is already downloading a file. Please wait until the download is completed."

I'm not downloading any other files while downloading part 39 of the movie. What's going on?

That's crapshare for ya.....just cancel your current download, clear your cache and retry the download. Easy-pessy

I've cleared my cache, but Rapidshare's being an ass and doesn't want to change. It keeps saying that my IP address is downloading a file. Any other help?

Also, can someone answer my first question (above)?

A similar thing has happened to me before. I would suggest that you clear your browser's cache. I think that fixed the problem for me.

I've tried clearing the browser's cache, but that didn't change anything.

Rapidshare's really annoying, isn't it?

I can't praise Star Wars: Revisited enough! It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. If anyone out there needs a copy of the DVD-9 version, I'll be more than happy to help out.

Hi, I'm new to the site. After discovering the amazing ANH:R, I knew I had to download this fan-made gem. I am trying to download the DVD-9 version of ANH:R, but being a free user of Rapidshare, downloading the movie is extremely slow and tedious, and now Rapidshare is having all sorts of freezing glitches that make me wait longer to download a file than normal (Rapidshare has been telling me to wait 52 minutes to download a file for over two hours now), and I really don't want to become a premium member of the site. Anyway, I'm interested in getting a copy of ANH:R in the mail. Will this cost me anything? If anyone can help me out, JediChad or whoever else, I'd appreciate it greatly.
