What are the extent of your Thief and the Cobbler extras?
What are the extent of your Thief and the Cobbler extras?
Hate to self-promote, but my blog has just published an essay on McCoy's daughter, character who several times almost made it to the screen.

OK, I need to get this thing. I love the Fleischer shorts to death, and this looks like it's going to be a very good way of doing them justice. Good job, sir!

I'm also interested in The Black Hold in HD! I haven't seen it in way too long...
Black Hold?
All good suggestions, all of which I'm planning to get someday. Plus Super Mario 64.

Alright, I gotta question. Could something like this be done for Bakshi's LOTR? To preserve the original narration.
I assume so. It has been a long time since I have seen the Bakshi LOTR, what was changed?
They changed the narration at the end. Originally, the narration played over the final shot, and was a very brief blurb that promised a sequel. The new narration cuts in right when Gandalf tosses up his sword in the end and makes it more standalone (since a Return of the King film was never produced). Also, the narrator of the new version is clearly different from the narrator of the rest of the film.

Sweet!

J*SUS F*CKING CHR*ST!?!?!
You've got an N64 and haven't got 'Goldeneye'? If I still had an N64 I'd be playing that game 24-7.
Yeah, I just got the N64 a few days ago. I'm not exactly experienced with it yet.

CAN WE STOP WITH THE FREAKING SCATOLOGICAL HUMOR!!!!!!!??
I'm in love with Rebel Strike's II and III. So far, the closest to an OT experience that I've gotten from a video game.
Also, Shadows of the Empire N64. The first (and only) N64 game I've ever owned, and I'm liking it a lot. Once I can get past the first stage, that is. I'm kind of a sucky gamer. :)
I had an idea a while ago, I'm not sure if it will work. If anyone could figure out how to do it, it might be interesting.
So, the celebration is going on while Luke is a the pyre. After the pan up to fireworks, cut back down to him seeing the celebration in the trees (repurposed ESB footage), and walking toward it. Rest of it normally. By normally I mean how I described it in my wish list.
Ronster, I think you're on to something with that music. It'll make the shot blend in more with the rest of the scene. I've personally found it a bit of a wierd addition to begin with, but I can see the appeal in keeping it. If it's done your way, I mean.
So, Classic Star Wars is awesome, but after seeing a comparison between the comic version and original printing, I’m tempted to try to find the original versions of each strip online.
Obviously I’m never going to be able to get the Russ Cochran sets. Is there a good online source where you can print out the original, unaltered versions?
Pretty good so far. I do have a few suggestions.
1. Maybe fade from the Bad Robot logo to the side shot of Kirk driving down the road, then show the previous two shots afterward.
2. Just a thought, maybe add Kirk's car escapade(complete, from the deleted scenes) into the movie somewhere, just like a flashback as he considers his life. I do like the scene of him in the car, since in this timeline he's much more of a rebel.
Really? I thought it was going to turn out that his sister was training on another planet, and that she and Luke were going to reunite around movie 7, and Kurtz suggested Leia being his sister to resolve the plot line. Whatever the reason, I can tell it wasn't planned from the beginning. Even Lucas' first draft of ESB had sexual tension between the two.
It's all quite disturbing, really.
Uh, I thought that for a second. And then I realized that would even be a little cheaper than what's in the film already. If it was actually the remains of the Death Star no refurbishments, that would be a hell of a set-piece.
None of my ideas were too radical (I hope), I think the film is good, but it can be improved by quite a bit to match ESB. If there was a feasible way, I would remove the Luke and Leia relationship. It's a cheap solution to a story arc.
OK, edited the list to clarify some things. Thanks for your input, Ric.
EDIT: Sorry, double post.
I had a similar idea once. My idea was to take a few low-res transfers and the GOUT and recreate the shoddy transfer of Lucas's technicolor print from Empire of Dreams.
The crawl looks kinda bleedy overall to me.
OK, Harmy, first of all, this is the beginning of the ultimate restoration of one of the best science fiction films of all time. That being said, I have a few notes, since this is just a workprint.
1. The colors are not as saturated as I'd like. It's too '04 for my tastes. I just recommend you cut back on green a bit and up the saturation.
2. The Han/Leia hallway argument is too bright. It was a moody scene originally, as seen in the GOUT insert at the top. Just take down the brightness slightly.
Other than that, good on 'ya!! The TB and GOUT footage is pretty near seamless. I just hope team_negative1 gets a higher quality version of that Wampa cave shot.
Best wishes, Harmy. -Tack
I would probably change it to how it is in the comic version to keep it kid friendly. Leia's cuts there are about as bad as Obi-Wan's in AOTC. I recall the novel being much more horrifying. Also, Vader's reason for tripping shouldn't be stepping on his own arm!
Yeah, I've kinda softened up to it. What did you think of the rest?
Downloading the workprint right now. Can't wait to give my two cents!
