What do you LIKE about the EU?
Time

Some EU was good, some did not interest me much. But I must admit that when I first read the Zahn trilogy it was the only time that I really felt like "watching" great Star Wars movies. I need to read this again!

Shadow of the Empire was not a bad idea from Lucas, but the new character vilain (can't remember his name) did not work for me.

The manga was cool indeed! and Dark Empire comics was (in Jack Loyd's voice) very, VERY cool.

Other than that there's good things, but these are the one that come in mind first.

Time

My Star Wars 30's serial edition is now complete. I have finished the DUSTY version

more details here: http://www.faneditforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5827

I thanks Boon23 and Ghostcut from fanedit.org who provided great technical help at the very begining of this project, because it was my first fanedit and it was a long learning process.
I, of course, thanks Ripplin for this GREAT work in correcting my bad english on the dialogue cards,
everyone here and at fanedit.org who sent feedback on this work.

I can't believe it's done. Ten months or so...

Rapidshare links for the DVD can be found at http://linktalk.ihiphop.com/forums/

Divx version soon to come.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Edit Suggestions
Time

I did not know where to post it: http://mysterymanonfilm.blogspot.com/2009/03/raiders-story-conference.html

The 1978 RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK Story Conference Transcript, with Lucas and Steven, avalaible on pdf format.

"GL:

The trouble with cliffhangers is, you get somebody into something, you sort have to get them out in a PLAUSIBLE way. A BELIEVABLE way, anyway. . That's another important concept of the movie -- that it be totaly believable."

Amazing reading, where GL looks like the serious guy and Steven like the one who want to make it funny.

Whatever you make the title, please at least keep "Indiana Jones..." at the beginning. Raiders is a standalone film, it would just look weird if after two sequels, the format went back.

It depends what is your goal with this fanedit.

If I'd want to have the best title for my vision of the movie I'd call it "Kingdom of the crystal skull", or maybe find another title without "Indiana Jones" in it. "Kingdom of Skulls" is quite good indeed. The audience will learn soon enough about the crystal thing.

To me a fanedit is more or less always a standalone project. No matter how you try to be as close as the other movies of a series, at the end it will be your vision. That's why I personaly would have no problem to cut "Indiana Jones and the..." out. Because, as I said, it would be way to tell the audience: this is my vision.

But, once again, if the goal is really to be as close as the others (meaning that all the cuts and decisions are made with the other movies as references, and not only the taste of the editor...) then, yes, keeping "Indiana Jones and the..." would be a good choice.

I understand that you want to keep "Indiana Jones and the..." for continuity. No problem, it's your edit.

My guess by naming it just "Kingdom of the cristal Skull" is that it would be more like "Raiders of the lost Ark", before Lucas renamed it "Indiana jones and the raiders of the lost ark" on the cover of the DVD.

It would be a way to tell the audience: this edit try to stay as far from Lucas bullshits as possible.

So... The Clone Wars "movie"...
Time

No offense meant, but your sort of attitude just looks to me like desperately scrambling for scraps so you can say "Here, I got a bit that's like the OT."

Well, that's exactely what I intended to do. What I feel is that all those little things put together brings a kind of OT feel to some parts. And don't tell me that I am wrong, cause I don't say that I am right, I just say that's how I FEEL the show. Just my opinion.

And the Rodian not only betrays the Jedi, but Padme is taken as prisonner, just like Han, then the Rodian begins to feel that the Federation is going too far and finaly help the Jedi, if I remember well. Exactely like Lando in ESB.

Again I am not telling that the show success in being as good as the OT (rehashing a character development from the OT is not that smart after all). It's just that when I watch Clone Wars, I can feel that the writers try to please everyone, including the old fans.

So... The Clone Wars "movie"...
Time

I remember the episode with the betrayal of a Rodian leader, that was very reminiscent of Lando's character in ESB. There are tons of little lines, and situations, that ring a bell of the OT in that show (okay that does not make it as good as the OT, but it's fun enough to watch the show IMO). Even the droid army and their "Rodger Rodger" sounds silly but in a way that you feel that the writers know it's silly, and want to play with it (and even laugh AT it). I feel like it's really a try to reunite the "prequels kids" (don't forget it's a kids show) and their "OT parents.

That said I did not see the "movie" yet. I was aware that it was just a pilot for the TV series and so not really made for the big screen.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist
Time

The character of Qui Gon maybe deserves to be at the end of ROTJ, it's a good idea on paper, but really don't think it would work on the screen. You know, Luke smiling whereas it should look wondering who the hell is that new guy.

Maybe after Luke turned to his friends we can add Qui-Gon in the back of the ghosts last shot. But all in all, I don't think I'd want to see this.

DarkFather Begins - Where did your Star Wars story begin?
Time

I saw the 3 Star Wars back in 83 or 84 on pirate 4:3 VHS tapes, french version (I am french). In 3 days. As I was 8 years old in 83 the one I really wanted to see was ROTJ because it was out on the theater not so long ago and I did not had the chance to see it. I wanted to see all the great muppets at Jabba's palace that I have seen pictures of.

So as much as I loved Star Wars and Empire (I was not a great fan of Empire as a young child, too dark, not enough action in the midle of the movie, the end felt like a let down etc..) I think I did not appreciate them enough the first time because of my will to see ROTJ! Needles to say that I changed my mind quickly! Even if I still love ROTJ.

The thing that was funny is that in 83 I also saw Raiders of the lost Ark on pirate VHS. And I told myself: "Man, Indiana Jones really looks like Han solo!" Ah! I guess I was not very smart back then...

Let's say I wanted to create my own space opera. (A PT re-write)
Time

If I wanted to make my own space opera I'd take every aspect of Star Wars and try to go the opposite way, as far as I can.

It will be a shame to have people saying that's a Star Wars rip off (even if your new story is great) only because it has an armored vilain in it.

If you want your vilain to remain unknown I'd say try something else than an armor.

But it's just my 2 cents of course. Do what you feel it's good for your story. :)

28.   Cut the science lesson from Indy in the quicksand.

I think it was funny.

It's not a scary scene after all. The purpose was to make a (kind of...) character developement scene out of a dangerous situation. That was the spirit of this comic scene.

If you delete all the comic relief of the quicksand scene, well, it will be just a very average scene, cause there's no real tension behind all of this. It was not the purpose.

Other than that there are great ideas in your list! Quite interesting.

STAR WARS Movies Animated
Time

Some nice french female first names that,in my (french) opinion, sounds good in english:

- Amandine (from latin: kind)

- Mathilde (from 2 german words: force and fight)

- Elodie (from 2 german words: stranger and wealth.) Would be fun for a character who dies quick (you know, "Hello! / Die....".  Oh well, Nevermind)

All in all you'd better finish the script first then find final names that fit the characters well.

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

And if we're talking EU here, then the six movies are canon and everything else (any TV media or the Clone Wars movie included) is considered EU by definition.

To me it's:

Star Wars canon = Lucas behind the story. (for the better and the worst) So CGI Clone Wars episodes are SW canon to me.

EU = No Lucas (or maybe just his signature on a paper, while eating a burger)
