STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

TPM yoda puppet was made to be a "younger" version of Yoda, that's why he is different. Of course for a 970 year old guy, you don't change that much in 10 years I believe!

But it's true that he don't look much younger after all, just different.

Well according to Luke in ANH there is an Imperial Academy so I could see them as being like the military in the many nations of our world. The Imperial Academy could be more of a high rank kiss-ass facility that gets them ready to be choked by vader when they are on the death star/star destroyers. And the regular storm troopers look like a recruit job. We have military academies here in the US and we also recruit so it could be looked at in the same vain.

Does he really talk about an "Imperial" Academy (I have seen ep 4 in french more often than in english so maybe I missed something), or is it just a "Pilot" Academy? Because it's obvious that Luke don't like the Empire and I don't think he'd wish to leave the farm to be part of the Empire!

Looks good, but... a bit too CGI-ish, I think. Good work, but maybe something could be done for the CG to not look so clean?

You are right. It's difficult. I made a version with a shaky camera movement, I think it looks better. I also added an orange tint to the smoke bursting from the eye.

Still CGI-ish. But I think that's all I can do on this shot  for now.

Here is a third version of this effect (made following Andrew Kramer's tutorial at http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/

http://rapidshare.com/files/256627283/DISINTEGRATE_3.mpg

Like I said at FE.org I do this shots to learn after effects more than to add even MORE CGI to Indy 4. But ID is interested by the concept of "teleportation" for his edit. So I'm toying with after effect and 3DSmax to see what can be done.

The goal is to make all skeletons vanished kind of like Spalko later. And the alien is "teleported in" by a reverse version of this effect (starting by the head). So when Spalko vanished we can assume that they are "teleporting" her more than just killing her.

I don't know if I can make shots realistic enough to be used in this edit, but I'm trying!

But I think ID could end with 2 versions of his edit, a "purist" and a more "let's our imagination rolls" version. So don't be afraid, we don't want to add CGI just for the pleasure to add CGI! ;)

Bonus: a new look for the alien

If Lucas had hired just one person half as invested in the OT as we are, the prequels would be so much better for it.  Just someone to say "Obi-wan said that Yoda trained him" or "Leia remembers her mother" or "Obi-wan kind of needs Anakin's lightsaber".

I think many persons told him things like that during the making of the PT but he just did not care much, or came with quick cheesy answers and the people in front of him did not have the guts to say no.

Personaly I'm sure Lucas did not forget about those little lines from the OT. He just wanted to make a script around new things (and why not?) but he has gone too far, and he had to fill the gaps but it was too late. At least that's the way I see it.

That's the whole point. The Dark Side twists and corrupts. There is no 'but I did it for such and such a good reason.' The Dark Side is an insidious cancer.

Exactly. Which is why Anakin giving rational reasons for turning to the dark side does not work.

Well, Yoda always said that fear leads to the dark side. Having fear of something (like loosing someone) is a rational reason that can lead someone to the dark side. The thing is that it cannot be the only reason, indeed. Because sometimes we all do bad things for good reasons without being bad persons in our heart. Anakin is doing bad things for good reasons, but we don't actualy really see when and why he became corrupted by the dark side. The movie needs scenes where Anakin learn more and more dark side powers that makes him feel unvulnerable and makes him loose his mind.

Oh come now, no facepalms were necessary with those comments. ;) Just don't show Bingo's comment to Anthony Daniels.

Seriously, about Anthony Daniels, in the "Bring Back...Star Wars" special, he really seems to come off as a guy who thinks he's a great actor. (and bigger than those old Star Wars films) I cannot say if he is or not, not having seen him in anything else. Has anyone here seen him in other things? Is he any good with drama and such? Can he play a bad guy convincingly?

I just saw that he played the voice of Legolas in the 78's animated LOTR, funny. (I only listen to the french version, so I don't know about his acting in it)

He did not play much things out of SW (wikipedia source). He had a role in a Young Indy episode.

Other than that it's mostly few TV series/movies appearances.

EDIT: Imdb has a more precise list of his movies, but nothing very impressive.

My order:

1 Raiders: the best from a cinematographical point of view.

2 Doom: the best from a fun point of view.

3 Skull: A good mix between all the first 3 ( but what a messed up script...!)

4 Crusade: Can't watch it anymore, I fall asleep each time. I've seen Infodroid edit the other day, and it's so better! (I need to say that I liked it very much back in 89'. It's just that this movie does not work with me no more.)

If your goal is to make a "true" Indy movie, as it could have been released by Spielberg and Lucas (only trying to have a better cut), I think you should NOT use TOD or Crusade music. Because I don't think it fits "Indy canons" to use other sequels musics (maybe I'm wrong but I can't remember a TOD music in Crusade). And even the Ark theme in Crusade is only used as a quick hommage. Same thing for the Crusade music on the picture of Connery in Indy 4.

But if your goal is trying to make the film better from your point of view, no matter what,  and if you think music from TOD and Crusade would be cool, I'd say why not.

First I thought the KOTCS music was not that good, but the more I hear it, the more I like it.

The "penitent theme" from Crusade is great but I would not want to hear it in Indy 4. Just my two cents, it does not mean it could not work well. It's just too "Indy 3" for me. The only musics that I personaly would use in a Indy 4 edit are from Raiders. Cause every sequels keep some main themes from Raiders and add their own to it. I don't think an addition of ALL previous movies would be that great.

That said, an edit is the vision of the editor. Do as you wish, always.

I think it's a good opening!

I like the title on the flag. And I think it is overall a much better opening for an Indy Movie. (tough I really like the car "chase" opening too.)

But one thing needs to be take care of: not to use the "directed by steven spielberg" that appears right before the "nevada 57". Then we could put the names of the actors when we see them for the first time (maybe it will be shown in your next pictures?). And only after that "directed by..."

Looking forward the next pictures! :)

Better yet, don't kill off "Jango" at all, instead cut out the kid and refer to him as "Boba".

 That would be cool.

When I told about putting Jango in the dark corridor before the factory scene, I tought more about showing him coming from the left side with his gun pointed at Anakin and Padme (and cut off the geonosians coming out of the walls). Like: Anakin "I sens something". Jango appears "Now you'll follow me, Jedi scum!" (or something like that). Then a wipe to the deleted scene with Padme, Anakin and Dooku.

The goal with the factory is be to make it look less like a Mario Bros game, indeed.

Worst scene in a Star Wars movie along with the "forbiden love by the fire" one. And they are both in the same episode...

About Jango. Maybe we could use him in the dark corridor before the factory scene. He would appears behind Anakin and Padme (flipped shot and some rotoscoping effect. Don't know about the perspective though, I need to check that) and next scene we see them in front of Dooku in the deleted scene.

I take it more like a joke from a CGI artist angry against this silly character he had to live with for months.

It's only half a second on screen, so it's not an obvious bad joke like when Jar Jar steps in poo. I mean it's so quick that you barely see it and it don't call for an audience laugh.

Lucas let it in the final cut though. So did HE think that it was really funny or did he give us a hint that he knew this character only deserves that treatment? Sadly I think I know the answer...
