About all the dubbing talking, dare I say the french voice of Han Solo (or Yan Solo, yes they even dare change the names of the characters) is even better than the original.

Back in the 70's and 80's, french dubbing was GREAT because the guys did not tried to sound like the original voices, but added some part of their own acting skills to fit the characters. So, okay, it was not Ford's voice... but it was a good damn Solo's voice, 'know what I mean? Most of the time the french version were funnier and more dynamic (back to the future is another good exemple).

Now, dubbing is done too quickly and most of the time sounds like actors reading their lines like living deads (I'm looking at you ep 1,2,3)

Missed Musical Oppurtunity?

Oh, I definitely hear it.  The main melodies are exactly the same.  One is sung by a dark, creepy church choir, while the other is sung by overenthusiastic children.  Other than that, they're the same.  (The "celebration" music around the kids singing is quite different, but that's not what we're talking about.)

Damn, I hear it too now... NEVER tought of it. I guess I learned something today.

I don't get why the conversation would take place in Ben's house at all. On Tatooine, before Luke goes to Jabba's Palace, sure. But why Ben's house? I don't think a Force "ghost" would have any reason to cling to its living domain, he's not a ghost in that sense, surely.

Maybe put the scene into a Jabba's prison cell... after he killed the Rancor? Coud be easier to do cause Dagobah is kind of a dark place too. (I did not think about all the consequences on the other scenes though, just a quick thought).

Seeing the Saga in order - a review by a first-time viewer....
Time

4-5-1-2-3-6... the more I think about it the more I like it, Cap. :)

The only things would be to add in the text crawl of episode 1: "20 years before the events described in the previous episode...."

and: "22 years after the birth of the Galactic Empire" in Episode 6 crawl.

Also rename all the episode exept episode 6

Ep 1 ANH

Ep 2 ESB

Ep 3 TPM

Ep 4 AOTC

Ep 5 ROTS

Ep 6 ROTJ

If Adywan like the idea this could be done once the whole revisted saga is complete.

On the other thread rcb linked to a rumor that a young Luke is going to appear on the show. Having seen a young Anakin and a young "Boba", I dread a young Luke. It'd be very unlikely to be anything but more crapping on Star Wars.

Please, no-enough with the young versions!

At least we never saw that awful young Han in Ep III.

Yeah, young Han solo was supposed to somehow help Yoda if I remember well...

Can you imagine that? It goes against everything Han Solo is as a character in ANH.

I am not Bashing Lucas all the time but the fact that this plot was taken seriously at some point is scary.

I'm glad you're not giving much away. Surprises are nice. I love "Mars, the Bringer of War" and yes, I think it would be a good fit. :) Any Meco? Heh.

Meco...  I have 12 or 15 minutes of disco Star Wars. Maybe I can use it somewhere (cantina maybe, I don't know). But the constant drum and bass make it difficult to make smooth transition.

Ooo, you've actually started to work on it? Great! I liked the Jaws edit (except for some of the music...) and look forward to this one. Should be a lot of fun. :)

Yeah I started to work on it. There's a thread at the FE.org forum. But I did not post much for now, the goal is to make a fun movie so I don't want every fun idea to be spoiled too much.

"The War of the Stars" is the working title for now.

I don't think there will be much 70's disco, funk, rock music this time! It worked (for me) on JAWS but it will be a little too out of place for Star Wars I believe.

I'd really like to replace most of Williams score by Gustav Holts's album "the planetes" (looks like Williams took all his ideas for Star Wars from this trulely great piece of classical music). The music "Mars, the bringer of war" is so Star Warsish that it needs to be in this edit though. It's also VERY dark and will contrast with the sillyness of the edit. Like if it was directed by someone who wanted to make a serious movie but failed on every detail. At least that the way I see it for now.

So... are people sending him videos?  Of what exactly?

I sent to the director my silent Star Wars edits (he said he loved it, even wrote something about it in the "PvsGL blog" (that can be found on the main page of their website) and a movie interview with my answers (made with my shitty webcam).

Let's hope some of my edits will pass the final cut. (would be fun for a faneditor to be edited out though!)

(...) I assume that Neeson's reluctance to return complicated his grand plan, just as DiCaprio's reluctance to join on did.

Assuming there was a grand plan.

I find it hard to believe that Jar-Jar wasn't going to play a greater role in the series until his near universal unpopularity forced Lucas to ditch him.

This And the fact that the fans asking for Boba Fett to return ended with... well, Boba Fett kinda return, only shows one thing: Lucas did not have a "grand plan".

He wanted to please himself in TPM without thinking about the fans which I think was a couragous move even if I don't like much the result. But then why try to please the fans by removing Jar Jar and adding Fett? If "the plan" was for Jar Jar to be a better character in EP 2, I think it would have been better than watching Lucas trying to "fix" the story to please everyone, resulting a mess of a movie.

You are not going to get what you want unless you have a contact at the Lucas archives.  And i doubt the deleted scenes will ever be released and if they are they will be altered in some fashion by GL to ensure they meet his "original vision"lol.

You're probably right.

Thanks for the answer, I'll see what can be done with what I've got.

Oh you mean the ship sinks in Titanic? I didn't know that. ;) I bet some people went into the movie not knowing, actually.

What is smart in Titanic is that the people who search for the Titanic on present day show the sinking of the ship to old Rose with a nice CG animation. So everyone not only knows that the ship will sink (even people who may have never heard about the Titanic) but we see exactely where the water goes, how the ship breaks etc.

That is smart because it adds a sens of danger by the end of the movie. The audience knows exately what will happen, unlike the characters. It is the definition od suspens by Hitchcock. (the famous: If you know the bomb will explode it's suspens, otherwise it's just suprise.)

But what worked in Titanic did not for the PT because Lucas did not take advantage of that "suspens factor".

GL did not take advantage of what the audience already know. In a way it makes sens since it is called EPISODE 1, but by doing this he did not allowed himself to make interesting two layers movies. Movies that could be fun for the young fans who did not see the old trilogy AND also fun for the old fans.

Thanks but I have that one. I was asking if there is a constant quality video of that scene available somewhere.

(Without the cuts to other qualities and the TV end credits at the end if possible)

I guess not, since that video seem to try using all the best sources available of that scene....

In short, I want to bring back that scene in a Grindhouse edit of Star Wars, so the quality don't matter a lot to me ( still it needs to be watchable!) but I can't use that present video because of all the none stop quality switches.

Hope I made myself clear this time! ;)

Don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but where can I find the complete scene with human Jabba?

I have a nice montage of human Jabba put in SE environement, then the cuts switches from various sources,

but I'd like to know if the original ENTIRE scene is avalaible with constant quality (bad or good, but constant) somewhere?

Nice found on the Vader's hand over the matte, doubleofive!

Obviously Angel's version is the way to go for ROTJ:revisted.

(Still I'd like to have a clear vision where exactely is that bridge in the throne room, because my "bridge version" could be good from a continuity point of view.) I'm sure some of you can find a drawing of the throne room. Like this one (but more focused on the throne room):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhk16mmiHNo&feature=channel_page

But in all seriousness, I've been recently inspired by everyone here in this thread to do some more work on my ROTJ Fan-O-Matic.

I had been fed up with Endor...Ewoks...timeline stuff....but I think I've found some new ideas that might work...we'll see ;)

I think we may already have a final cut on at least one scene of ROTJ revisited!

Good job!
