A little interview of Hamill: http://www.premiere.fr/Cinema/News-Cinema/Video/EXCLU-VIDEO-Mark-Hamill-revient-sur-Star-Wars/(gid)/2296518#
Thanks for the reply, ImperialFighter.
Interesting interview, None.
Wait, question: I thought the 6 minutes added to Avatar are on the DVD released these days? Then an extended version will hit the theater with, I heard, 12 or even 40 minutes more?
Am I wrong?
Not doing what fans want is one thing (this can be debated).
Another thing is to release shitty quality product like the GOUT (this can not be debated: it's called making easy money on the old fans back, playing with their nostalgia, aka "fuck you!").
I did not buy the GOUT even if it's the "real" trilogy that we all liked.
What I want to say is that if there is no OOT on this boxset, too bad of course I'd like it, but as far as the quality of what is presented is great, it's fine with me. People will know what they will buy (or not), no bad surprises. I'm cool with that.
What I think Lucas will do is selling this boxset without the OOT. Thinking that he could make another OOT boxset later on if he wants. Making us buying the SE OT in Blu Ray THEN the OOT later on.
Like the interviews said: it is not the "ultimate" boxset.

Seeing that im wondering if you can eliminate the rotating chair. He supposed to be a prisoner,, how the hell he rotates the chair. He can order a pizza too through a microphone?
Oh yes. First time I saw the movie I thought the "big reveal" that he is Sidious was about to happen. Then I saw he was captive and was like "meh".

Ooh, and it's from Jorge. One of the few true-fanedit editors I really respect. I have seen him polish a t**d until it glitters.
I'll be giving that edit a watch.
Jorge did a very short version of Indy4. It doesn't really have an usual Indiana Jones feeling to me, BUT it's an intersting take. Just don't take it as the "ultimate" Indy 4 fanedit and you might like it. :)
The plan, for now, would be to work in PAL. So the movie will be 4% faster in PAL anyway. But usualy I try to make a NTSC version after, so the lenght of the movie plays at the right time for those who are used to it. But maybe I could find a way to make a NTSC version playing a bit faster than the usual NTSC. I don't know, it will be something I'll do once the whole work is done anyway.
At one point I thought about taking my VHS of the original ESB (not the SE, the real original movie) and make a mpeg2 file out of it, but I think a clean version from a the DVD would be more easier to play with. I mean to add special effects and camera tracking, those kind of things. A VHS quality would be a bitch to play with. So I think I'll add some after effects VHS lookalike filters on the edit once it's done.
I'm far from begining to start working on it (I'm working on a Mimic edit for now) but I collect some ideas and I think I'd like to do it.
Do you think the ratio should be 4:3, or a full 16:9 would do fine?
I have a lot of friends who can't watch a movie in English, and I always been very frustrated I can't show them ANH(R), as it has no French dubbing or subtitles.
BTW is there a version of ANH(R) with French subs out there? In progress? And what about a French dubbed ANH(R)? I'm actually considering making a fan edit of the French dubb for Ady's ANH(R), fixing all the bad translations they did back then (3po > 6po ?, millennium Falcon > millennium Condor?!, Chewbacca > Chictabac ?!?!? or Chewie > Chico ?!?!?) but I'm not sure I'll have the time to do something like that…Anyway, I'm verry happy to hear that you intend to add French dubbing Ady.
Pretty much all the bad name translations in french are only in ANH. Chico/Chicktabba is Chewie/Chewbacca in ESB and ROTJ - Condor is Falcon etc... exept Han/Yan and C-3PO who is still Z-6PO, BUT those two sounds so much better in french than I'd stay with it.
3po in french is prounounced: "trwha Pay ow" -
6PO: "Sis Pay Ow" is actualy sounding closer than his real name in english and much easier to dub for the french voice actors. And it will always be his "real name " for me!
They (AGAIN!) changed the rules when came the PT, 6PO becoming 3PO in french... while I'd still prefer to have him called 6PO.
A real mess anyway.
EDIT: and I of course forgot the infamous Dark Vador, which sounds good in french after all. Because a lot of french have difficulties saying "th".
Maybe I already said that but I did a very little cut in my Silent edit (the dusty version, not the "clean" one) of TPM.
It's not "radical" at all but: when the gates opens and Darth Maul appears I always felt that showing Obi and Qui gon lighsabers FIRST would be so much better. You know, Maul would look at them, pissed of, but THEN, bam! he shows his double blade.
I'd really like the revisited version to use this tiny cut. Cause it's aso the little things that drives me mad!
A very good review but not as fun nor focused than the previous one.
A bit too long I think.
But maybe it is because english is not my language. I perfectly understood all what he said on TPM review, but here, it's strangely more difficult to me, to follow everything he says, lol.
Yeah, sorry, it was an april fools joke ;)
But I'm sure I'd like to make a funny edit of Empire someday. Like I said before, more a kind of "Direct to VHS" edit.
Yes, to me the hard technical part of editing is the sound editing after all.
If the problem here is only a frame rate trouble on some parts, I'm sure it still can be fixed.
Judging from what I see on that sample, PAL has (little) more details. I's not just that it's brighter.
Poor boon... another SW edit! ;)

It's not about proving to the world that such and such fix is justified for such and such reasons because its inconsistent in a later shot, or whatever. The fact we are doing it in the first place is the real significance, and that's what the filmmaker is drawing attention to, as he should be.
Exactely my thoughts. But wait and see.

yeh, i've just seen that interview. I'm not very happy with the example they agve of the "critters". This is something they never asked me about yet use it as an example in the film of how "nit-picky" i am with my edit.
I think it's odd that one guy who produces an entire documentary about his feelings about Star Wars (and brags about the thousands of hours of footage he had to go through) can be so dismissive of the work of someone else who invests a great deal of time and effort into these films.
I really think you read Alexandre the wrong way. He is not dismissive at all.
He said that Adywan is not the kind of guy who remove something just because he don't like it, it's more than that. That's the way I read Alexander interview and I think he's right. It's not dismissive talk against Adywan to me.

I was right. They basically said they stop in the middle of the interview to point out that Ady removed most but not all of the "critters" on the way into Mos Eisley to show how nit-picky he is. They never mentioned this to him and he has a perfectly good explanation which no one will ever hear but us.
And of ALL 250+ changes Ady made, this is the one they focus on? At least io9 posted a video showing the GOOD AND JUSTIFIED changes he made.
I'm still eager to see this, but I know I'm not going to like it.
I understand you. But:
1: we don't know if this change is the only one shown in the doc.
2: Adywan is speaking, so I hope he has enough screen time to show the audience he don't make change without thinking about what he's doing.
3: I don't think Alexandre's goal is to explain WHY Adywan did this or did that (if the audience is interested in, they will show here at OT.com) to me his goal is to show how far the fans can go.
It's not just: "we don't like that so we remove it!" it's more than that. I think that's what he wanted to say. And it's an homage to Adywan's work to me.

I don't think there are many of us who want to see the clones without their armor.
Or Yoda without his robes.
It took me several readings before I understood you, but lol.
If this could be a way to make the clone wars cartoon a bit more "adult" I think it's good.
I think the SE new ending score should stay (the only real major improvement of the SE to me), as well as original Lapti Neck.

SPOILER ALERT:
TMBTM did not add Jar-Jar or Cookie Monster to the trench run. REPEAT: HE DID NOT DO THIS!
I knew something was missing...
The "go make you own movie!!!" argument...
Since when do we need to make movies to judge them? That "argument" is always uses when a so called artist don't like criticism. Do we all need to make movies to have the right to say our thoughts?
Hope not.
Putain mais on est combien ici?
