Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?
Time

I'm actualy toying with color correction of deleted scenes for my new edit The War of the stars part2. But i'd like to make NOT a grindhouse edit like the first.

So every lines and spot removal tools are welcome. I tried Spotremover for virtualdub, but I'm not a expert and as english is not my first language I have difficulties to understand its subtilities. And the result is not good. At all.

So for now I only make color correction.

Here is Dark Jedi version 3 of the GOUT:

Now my color corrected version of the extended scene:

And a reminder of the original extended scene:

Now, for my edit, I only work in DVD quality with premiere pro. But it was just to show you some preview.

James Earl Darth Vader - dialogue clips from other works by James Earl Jones into Darth Vader
Time

Wait, now I think more about it I don't known anymore...

I know I wanted to watch the movie "Claudine" for a reason I can't remember (these lines are from that movie). So maybe I did see that youtube video before.

I must have the memory of fish, lol.

Anyway that video is real good fun. But most of the scenes could not really fit in a real fanedited movie where you'd like to preserv some kind of coherence.

A little bit off topic, but those videos by Blueyoda are also fun:

Some bits of my War of the Stars edit seems to have been used on this one.

Unless the guy had the exact same idea (for the Leia's interrogation scene, for example).

EDIT: damn, it looks like that, since this youtube video was posted in 2007.

I swear I did not see that version of the interrogation scene before I made my edit, lol.

Two random ROTJ observations about the Twin revelation.
Time

I don't think the "reveal" scene is rushed because they had no time to make it longuer. It's just that the audience already knows the truth and does not share Han's surprise. So it would be pointless from a storytelling point of view to spend more minutes of Han getting shocked, asking questions etc...

It's just a scene that needed to be shot because Han needed to know the truth (for the movie to end "properly"), but not really the audience.

TMBTM's "The War of the Stars"; a Star Wars "grindhouse" cut (Released)
Time

Chewie is called Chiktaba (nickname Chico) only in the first movie.

In ESB and ROTJ it's Chewbacca and Chewie.

The 2004 DVD versions are the same as the old dub, but Han (Yann...) have a new actor for dubbing the Jabba's scene. It's quite jarring.

I heard the dub on the bluray are the same. But I did not see them.

I have this french 1977 version of the comic book. :)

I could make french and english subtitles .srt for this edit. But, well, I'm lazy when it becomes to work again on an old fanedit.

I usualy make subtitles for my newest edits. Mostly always french, because I'm french, and english because it's easier for everybody to follow the dialogue if you're not english speaker.

About new dub... well, yeah, it would not only need  new dub for the deleted scenes (the french SE already have new Han Solo's voice actor on the Jabba scene though...) but it would also needs to find new voices by the same french actor who makes JEJ's voice, for Vader. And since I used some interviews and speach of JEJ that are not on any movie, it could be difficult to make a true french version of this edit.

Darth Vader Wins Ultimate Villain at the 2011 Spike TV Scream Awards

Funny thing is how everyone laugh and clap when Vader mocks the special edition changes, but then when Lucas enters, everyone is like, oh, Lucas is there, I guess I should continue to clap.

I suppose his presence had two meanings:

- Making him looking smart enough to mock himself about his digital changes; like when he got his "Han-shot first" T-shirt.

- And yes, to promote the 3D release.

Twelve Reasons "Star Wars" (aka ANH) Suckz
Time

Luke does kill several people with his lightsaber, just not directly with the "blade", but with redirected laser shots and also by destroying a speeder bike. (maybe he even kills someone directly with his lightsaber during his escape from the Sarlacc., IIRC)

EDIT: OOps, sorry, I thought about the OT. Not just ANH.

I guess you're right then, lol

OFFICIAL: Library of Congress had original prints replaced with 1997 SE
Time

His master plan is: In 100 years, people will see the special editions like the only Star Wars and no one will remember the first versions (this has already begun). This is egomaniac. He actualy see himself still controlling SW after his death.... that is sad to think about. I mean for him.

As much as Star Wars will always be considered like a turn in movie history for his special effects and the cultural phenomenon; I'm sure in 100 or 200 years people will not look at Star Wars with same eyes as the early fans of the OT. They will have new movies, or piece of entertainment, or art form to care about. I have a news for you, Lucas: Star Wars will not make you immortal. You will just be a name on a list in 200 years ( a bigger list than most of us, but just a list anyway). And SW will be taken for what it is: a cultural phenomenon of the end of the 20th century. Not of the 21th.

Why not giving the UOT to the only people who ever care about it?

Us. And NOW.

As english is not my language I had some trouble to follow the article.

From what I understand:

The LoC have old 35mm prints of at least SW and ESB, but in very poor condition (scratches, faded colors). They asked for new prints to Lucasfilm, who proposed the 97 SE "instead". LoC would also like to preserv the 97 SE, indeed, but it was not what they were asking, so they declined the offer.

So the old, poor and unexploitable prints are all the LoC have.

Am I right?

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

The basic idea of this edit, using differents sources, implies that some elements could be jarring anyway. I saw this edit and it's a very good work. It shows nothing but love and dedication.

That's said, some camera tracking, or "mixing" (like the Dewback in front of the cantina) can be seen and so I think it's fair to say that it's not 100% perfect.

But it's the closest of a HD version of the original cut we have, so thank you for your work. I was pretty pleased with it. We know Angel is not a "hater" and only wants to help.

"The People Vs. George Lucas" documentary...
Time

I finaly bought the DVD (france) and watch it with the bonus.

It is very good, although fans like us will not learn much about the matter. It is however the movie you need to show to someone who does not have any idea about the personal story of Lucas and what happended to the original theatrical cuts.

I wished the movie was a bit longuer as I feel that the editing was a bit too fast without much of Dale Pollock and Gary Kurtz's interviews. Fortunately they are on the bonus (Pollock: 27 minutes, Kurtz: 15 minutes). In fact I think we could make a very cool extended edition  fanedit (!) of the documentary, adding those interviews and lot more of the fans ones, also from the bonus (60 minutes).

I personnaly have like 10 or 15 seconds on screen: that's great! (I have my own full interview on my PC, of course, so I could make a special editon all about me if I want anyway, lol!) but I really feel like Adywan's work needed more focus on. In fact it was just few seconds of him talking about the rage amongs some Star Wars fans against his Revisited fanedit.

All in all it was quite intertaining. Some people said the doc came a bit too late and should have been made right after, or during, the making of the prequels. But I think that with the release of the controversial Blurays... the timing is perfect.

PS: if Adywan is okay to give his full interview (if he ever have it), I could make that extended edition of the movie in my spare time. I'm sure the director would even be pleased by that, as he sounded quite exited and interested by all the fanedit community in the few emails we had about one year ago. Just an idea.

If the SE & BR versions were never rereleased...
Time

People who discovered Star Wars in 97 with the SE would be upset to not have the possibilty to watch it. Well maybe some of them even ARE upset of the few (but horrible) new changes on the BR.

It would not be a big deal such as the missing originals, of course. Because "movie history" would be safe without any available SE. But still, I think it would also be a slap in the face of some fans to not present them in DVD and Blu Ray.
