The War of the Stars Part II - The Future in Motion (Released)
Time

^ Everything has been said about the how and where to get this fanedit... but:

Reminder: the Xvid (rapidshare) and the DVD (usenet) are at fanedit.info under the "tmbtm" folder.

For those who really want torrents, I think I've seen some around the net but I don't know the quality of those as they are not shared by myself (plus I already shared a "version 1" of this edit, with some typos on credits and subtitles, so those torrents could be that first version) and your never sure enough seeders are still alive with torrents.

Hosts like rapidshare and now usenet are a "safe" way to keep fanedits available.

(And: getting what you want is not always easy. But in this case it's rather simple.)

Thanks for watching the edit and for your ideas Bingo.

Although that I feel that making those changes would not just be "tweaking" the edit but it would be removing some parts that I like and it would be a totaly new edit towards the end. Something that I'm not willing to do.

Plus after all those Star Wars edits i've done, I think i'm "done" with Star Wars as a faneditor. (unless Lucas finaly allows the making of a live TV series, maybe)

^^ It is not available anymore at mediafire. At least not on an account of mine. I don't have account there anymore. The AVI version can be found at fanedit.info under the form of a .dlc ( filled with rapidshare links)

The DVD version of this fanedit is now available again on NTSC DVD5 on newsgroups (usenet).

This is the "version 2": the same as the AVI version already available.

Other than the correction of some typos on the credits and R2's subtitles, the DVD version also have a German subtitles option (Thanks to originaltrilogy.com member Serling1979.)

And the encoding bitrate of the video is also a little bit higher than on the first DVD version.

Oh, it's more than okay.

Actualy a member at fanedit.org was in the making of german subtitles for the the version 2 that will be release... but he did not gave me sign of life for some time.

(the changes on version 2 are just some corrected typos on harcoded texts, nothing else)

By the way, the AVI of this version 2 is aready at fanedit.info (a .dlc with rapidshare links)

This edit works from title to final edit.  Great example to show how fan edits are not just about messing with whats been, but creating what hasn't existed.  Lots of moments which make you smile seeing how the familiar material can tell a new tale.  Not just short gags and omages but comprehensive re-storytelling, taking a theme, playing it up and expanding it to it's logical conclusion thru the manipulation of multiple scenes and sources.  In many ways the main story tread which is played up in 'The Future in Motion' could very well have occurred in the real movie.  Luke's tale does follow the trend set up in the the first War of the Stars, so although not completely grindhoused, tFiM is a great continuation.  And the level of skill involved shows that TMBTM's craft is continuing to expand.  Enjoyed 'The Future in Motion immensely.

I laughed out loud at the first 'How typical' line.

Thanks none,

appreciate it.

Thanks for the very nice comments people.

And thejediknightthusezni: with those two "War of the Stars" edits plus my whole saga as silent short movies (the 30's serial editions) I think I worked enough with the Star Wars universe for now, lol. Cool brainstorming though.

I think now I'll make those little experimental movies I always wanted to do ;)

Downloading it now in jdownloader! a lot of the parts are not available, does this happen when the host server has too many downloads?

Mmm ... not sure about this. I don't think so.

All links are online to me.

Update you JD and try again.

I know a lot of people already downloaded this edit without trouble. To some folks it was even very fast to download.

Yeah... Vader's red eyes are there.

Also R2's subtitles. Although I think they are a bit more useless than they were in the first edit. But well, had to make them for some "continuity". I just feel they are not as fun.

The overall tone of this edit is less fun than the first anyway. Don't expect a lot of gags or things like that. But I think there are enough twists, deleted scenes and WTF moments to be entertaining.

Upload will start tonight. The edit will be available at fanedit.info in one or two weeks if everything is fine.

Going through the painfull process of making subtitles (in my case: french and english) has a positive side: you spot some little lines or even just a word that should not be there anymore and you can refine your edit even more.  :)

It's version 5 now since the workprint. And I think it's the right one.

Fingers crossed for a release before the end of the month.

If you decide to make the Ewoks into the vicious little furry bastards they could have been, there are several shots in "Battle for Endor" where they are using blasters. Some of it is actually unused Jedi footage.

Well, the workprint is done and the Ewoks don't even really fight the Empire in fact. You can't make two movies in one without cutting a bunch of things and the Ewoks are the first think that cross the mind, lol.

But I'll take a closer look at those shots, just in case. Thanks for the hint.

Looks like an interesting concept. Can you explain how you plan on mixing Empire and Jedi?

Well, that's, a bit complex, lol.

Let's say this involved some twists and more than 90 special effects shots.

I can say that Jabba is not present nor mentioned in this edit (since I used the human actor deleted scene in the first edit to say that Han actualy paid Jabba.)

As in the first edit Vader is still not Luke's father.

The Ewoks have less than 5 minutes of screen.

Like in the first edit some dialogue replacements or twisting will be sound a bit weird or differently pitched. I tried my best to make it good, but this could be jarring sometimes.

The edit running time is about 2h15.
