STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

The Lucas way: When Yoda is moving the X-Wing out of the water, a funny amphibian spider is caught at the top of the ship (Close up on the creature who is wondering what is happening) Yoda waves his hand a bit so the X-Wing leans on a side and the creature slides along the wing and falls on the water with a little funny sound. Close up of R2 beeping a laugh.

Do you think Disney will release the unaltered versions for DVD and blue ray?
Time

I think a new release of the OOT will see the light of day simply because new Ultra HDTVs with a resolution close to 4K are starting be sold (heavy prices for now, of course) and my guess is that Disney will want to release the OT in Ultra HD at some point and since (from what I know) the special editions effects were only made in HD, then the only way to release the original trilogy in Ultra HD, without some scenes to look softer than others, is to make a (at least) 4K scan of the untouched original movies and release it without the "new" effects...

That said, Disney could first release the new sequel trilogy in Ultra HD then, later the original trilogy, so it's not for tomorrow morning, if it happens.

The funny thing is that since the prequels were shot in HD, they could not pretend to have a Ultra HD release (not even one of those "mastered in 4K" blurays...), unlike the OOT!

EDIT: so... if my thinking make sens, I think originaltrilogy.com should start a petition for the original trilogy to be released in Ultra HD 4K (when the support will be defined. I guess it'll be some kind of "Ultra Blurays"), because there's only one way to release this, and it's the OOT.

Star Wars prequels were mapped out in 1981, only nothing like the way they turned out
Time

What I find most interesting in this article is reading a G. Lucas having good point saying that Yoda does not fight because he's not really a Jedi but more a teacher, AND Kasdan answering that he does not like it (so basicaly Kasdan was okay for a Yoda fighting Vader scene in the prequels back then, and Lucas not). It's a bit of a shock to read.

Add to that the fact Leia losing her mother at 2 years old (makes sens in ROTJ context, but not in the actual PT's one) and the fact anyone can learn the ways of the Force (this does not "really" contradict the PT, but well, you better have good midichlorian's count if you want to be a powerful Jedi, all right) and you realize that Lucas knew very well what he was doing when he made the PT... and it was the complete opposite of what the younger Lucas wanted.

All I can suppose, if I still want to look at Lucas as an artist, is that when you think about making a piece of art for too long and stop thinking about it for some years, then when you come back to your first ideas... well, it's kind of boring of just using them as they always were. Know what I mean? Even if they made sens, even if they were the best: just using your 20 years old ideas is boring. You want to find new ones, I can understand that. It's either find new ideas or not making the movies. That's the only good excuse I can find for Lucas after reading this article.

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

It also depends "when" Pollack read those treatments. I mean, if it was before Empire and Jedi were released, then maybe what he read as "7,8,9" was part of Empire and Jedi (that he did not see yet). I don't remember his interview that well, I should check it again. Was it clear he saw those treatment after the whole OT was released? It was in People vs Lucas, right?

My problem is not her age or about her weight. My problem is that I just have a hard time discerning what makes her face look like Carrie Fisher today... It's like she had facial surgery or something (?). I don't want to be disrespectful, she does look okay and even sometime nice in a couple of pictures of those past years. but like a nice woman who would not be Carrie Fisher. There was a time she could have been standing in front of me in the street I would not even have guessed that she was Carrie Fisher. See, Harrison is like 15 yo older and he looks very old but he still looks like himself. To be fair things tend to change when I see her on interview, because her crazy personality and charisma are still present. But on still pictures, I'm sorry to say that for 56 (that's not THAT old) she could look a lot more like herself (if that even make sens!) if time had been more kind with her. I'm still glad she could play a part in the new movie. I'm just not sure I could really feel like I'm watching an older Leia. I'd like her to prove me wrong! :)

I keep telling you guys she is the main villain but none of you believe me.

I believe it.

Because that's exactly what I would do if I was in charge of this trilogy. And let's face it: since Carrie Fisher have lost her sex appeal making her the "bad guy" (à la Palpatine) would be logical. Just a Mon Monthma kinda role would be a bit of a letdown if you have to use Carrie Fisher.

Amazing work. Looks beautiful from start to finish to me :)

And yeah, that shot of the AT-ST firing his guns was great!

Just a very little thing I never saw though. It's also on the original footage. It's at 1:35: Don't we see something that looks like a laser hit appearing on the back of the AT-AT, but without any actual laser beam hitting that point?

(again it's really nitpicking from me and just something that suddenly strikes me. Sorry if that point was already discussed or if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me, lol)

Can anyone who saw episodes 1-3 first please fill out this survey?
Time

1. In one sentence, what is your description of a villain?

Usualy it's an antagonist: a person who oppose the protagonist(s); a "villain" is not always a "bad guy" at heart, but his actions are worthy to fight against.

2. Do you consider yourself a Star Wars fan? On a scale of 1-10, 1 being not a fan at all and 10 being a “super fan”, what would you consider yourself?

If we speak about the OT: 9,

if we speak about the PT and clone wars: 6 (extra point for Clone Wars series),

Not counting the EU.

3. In what order did you first watch the Star Wars films?

A. Episodes 4-6 first, then Episodes 1-3

4. Who is your favorite character from the films?

I'd like to say Han Solo because he's the one everyone would like to be... but if I really want to say the truth, the more interesting and meaningful character of the saga is Luke Skywalker.

5. Who is your favorite villain from the films?

The Emperor.

6. What is the first thing you think of when you think of your favorite villain from the film?

His laugh.

7. If your favorite villain was not the Emperor, what is the first thing you think of when you think of the Emperor?

___

8. If your favorite villain was not Darth Vader, what is the first thing you think of when you think of Darth Vader?

Hi first appearence in episode 4 in the corridor.

9. What is Senator Palpatine’s motivation for becoming the Emperor?

Search for more power (hidden behind a false quest for revenge/peace).

10. What is Anakin Skywalker’s motivation for becoming Darth Vader?

His need to control everything.

11. Do you feel sympathy for the Emperor?

No.

12. Why or why not?

Because he's an antagonist of the heroes, and Star Wars (at least the OT) is written good enough to make me want the heroes to win over the antagonist. There is no redeeming side to his personality.

13. Do you feel sympathy for Darth Vader?

Yes and no.

14. Why or why not?

I feel sympathy for Vader (or should I say Anakin) only by the end of ROTJ.

And mostly because of Mark Hamill's and Sebastian Shaw scene.

During the PT he is not a likeable character enough for me to root for him. Sorry George, fail.

15. When the Emperor died in Episode VI, what emotions did you feel, if any?

I feel good for Vader/Anakin.

16. When Darth Vader died in Episode VI, what emotions did you feel, if any?

I feel sad for Luke.

17. Do you think the Emperor fits into your description of a villain from question one?

Yes.

18. Why or why not?

Because he's the main antagonist through all movies (even if not seen in the first 77' movie). and his actions are worthy to fight against.

19. Do you think Darth Vader fits into your description of a villain from question one?

Yes.

20. Why or why not?

Because even if he's not the "mastermind" antagonist of the whole saga, he is the main villain figure of the saga, and even the PT can't undo that fact. It's not because you understand why someone is doing bad thing that suddenly he is not a villain anymore. Almost every villains in superheroes comics have good reason to do bad things from their point of view. They are still villains.

The War of the Stars Part II - The Future in Motion (Released)
Time

Don't know why the usenet version would not work. I'll try it again tomorrow to be sure.

The rapidshare AVI (xvid) version at rapidshare should work, I tried the links recently if I remember well.

I did not upload the DVD version at rapidshare and I did not try to download it, so I can't tell you. But yeah, rapidshare have now a 1G of download traffic for account without "rapidpro". If the guy who uploaded the DVD reactualize his rapidpro it should work again, I think...

Guess The Titles the STAR WARS Sequels... just for fun.
Time

Bingowings said:

Is that like Dungeons and Dragons?

Well nope, it was not a joke reference to anything, just my proposition for an episode VII title.

I think "Keepers of the Force" have all the things needed for a SW title. You have the word "Force" that was not used yet in any titles. You have "of the" (already 3 titles have that, so why not a fourth), and you have "Keepers" who could refer either to the old Jedi (like Luke) or the new ones and also could be a wink to the new team of filmakers doing this new trilogy.

So yes, I think "Keepers of the Force" would be my choice.

Recasting our heroes
Time

No recasting for the 7 8 9 sequels. Use the original actors if they are in the final script. And use the original characters only if they have something interesting in therm of role. If it's just for a cameo ala first Expendables movie, then better not use those charcaters at all.

That said. Once the sequel trilogy is done. Maybe, just maybe, we could back in time and have some fun Han and Chewie adventures with new cast. I'm not really sure about that, but I could see a recasting only for earlier adventures of our heroes in standalone movies, IMO.

I'd prefer Luke not running a Jedi academy. He knows how dangerous the Force can be.

Could have a Jedi academy in the new movies, but Luke should not agree to run it, IMO. Maybe Leia could though; against Luke's advice maybe. There could be some sort of tension between them about this. But please no more Jedi endlessly walking on CG corridors, talking about how powerful some padawan is and how dangerous another is. We need adventure, fun, action, smart humor and tension. A little politic intrigue... yeah, why not, but in the background.
