Due to my own inefficiency, er, I mean Real Life, I just got started reposting some Waterworld files. MCoG goes up tonight for sure.

I dunno if there are any torrents planned, hope so.


CW's MCoG does have the mini-documenteries. And they're in surprisingly good shape. A little muddy, but not pixellated. (And no subtitles).


I checked Disc 1 so far, and they've been about historical topics about the show. I haven't run into any "making of" yet. (You might be able to tell that I'm not the expert, here. ). I didn't catch them on Nickelodeon, back in the day, but I remember seeing them listed in the schedule. I'm getting addicted to it, now - I have to see where all this is going.

You were including documentaries at the end of each episode? I know the only copies of those I've seen seem to be from a Polish broadcast (if I remember correctly) with burned-in subtitles and basically poor video quality. Is this the same source you are using? there probably aren't that many sources for them, since they were aired so few times.

Not sure I follow you there, the UK version by Contender Entertainment used the Fox UK broadcast masters and afaik they are uncut apart from the intro which was the shorter US version. the longer version is on all 3 french sets, not sure about the australian release.. I know the US Mysteries in Time was cut (alot) on 2 of the 4 episodes.

Probably for the best. Most copies I see posted online look like rips from the same VHS tape a friend once sent me 7 years ago he obtained from his anime club's library at the Univ. of Texas in Austin. There are times when I only wish I had bothered recording that show back when Nickelodeon had it on in the 80's, but I was still rather too young to comprehend recording something on a VCR than simply playing a tape. If only I had had all 39 episodes in virginal quality from those airings, I'd be a GOD to you people! You know how elusive finding perfect copies of this show in English are.

There seems to be no sign of an official release, and even if there was, there is no guaranttee it would be as good anyway.

I believe he was suggesting that the HBO audio be synced to the DVD version. In regards to that, some of the video of the HBO version was cut from the DVD release, but it would make sense to utilize the footage in the DVD version, and cut in the missing segments from the taped uncut version. And actually, I imagine that much of the audio in the two versions is the same, so the DVD audio could be used for much of it, and then the "dirty" audio could be used for the scenes that DVD footage exists for, or where the audio was changed, but the video itself is the same between the two versions.

The problem with this film is the BAD SOUND. It's a sad example of how this movie was made on such a low budget, and how no care was taken by the Producers {NOT ZAPPA} to save anything of value from this production. All the master Video Tapes of the shot footage had been erased and the used tape stock sold for extra production cash.

I too have come with my begging bowl, as rmuneton did some time ago. I've been trying download the second disc for quite some time but it has never has any seeds, sadly. Although I am a new member, but once purely a lurker, I would be extremely grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of an alternative location to get the contents of this torrent or even re-seed the torrent. Technically, the film was given back to Grimault in '67 after a court order or something, and throughout the next decade, he and writer Lance Prevert set about to essentially rewriite, re-edit and animate new scenes to complete what was essentially the basic idea Grimault and Prevert wanted all the long before the early 50's takeover. The new film, "Le Roi et l'Oiseau" tends to be a lot different in terms of it's message which wasn't quite as apparent in the 1952 release, and includes a new ending that further complements that concept than what the "Happy Ending" did before.


Best we can do is fansub perhaps.

Of course Miyazaki has a lot of influences based on previous animated films he has seen before that got him into being an animator at the start.

By the way, here's another "trailer" from the Prince Vladimir film that was released this February... shame that it's on Youtube and at low quality, but it does show some hints of some really good animation (check out that flying-camera scene 2 minutes in) and show that it's a pretty dark film (much of the audience was dismayed to find that it's not really suitable for children, apparently). This is another one that unfortunately probably won't be released with English subtitles. Even the high-profile European animated films tend to stay in Europe, and often never even leave the country where they were made (especially true of Russia).

Also noticed the Miramax cut that was put up is taken from my LD rip as well (not that it matters, but I wish I did a better job on encoding it, but it turned out OK as an MP4 off Google).

Your copy of The Thief Who Never Gave Up is wonderful quality, a perfectly clear NTSC one, and worth the money as an artifact and copy.

I actually used a PAL master provided by baby hum for my DVD though -- he had converted it with great skill and that PAL clarity helped. I had a choice between your great transfer and his - a luxury I rarely had on this project!

No kidding! I can think of a ton of Saturday morning things nearly as bad as this! The late 80's/early 90's was especially lame for the "runaway productions" that were in place at the time.

How does overseas animation fit into "The Simpsons" production process?

Of course, if we all remember what Tony White had said in an interview for his latest book a few pages ago, he felt that overseas animation subcontraction should only work if it contributes to the growth of animation in said country. Often I wonder how true this is nowadays or is it just not taken literally. Even in the age of CGI, there's still that need to rely on our buddies in Asia for the bulk of it (a studio in Shanghai for example worked on Dreamworks' prime-time flop "Father of the Pride" for example), though usually much of it still exists more for TV production. I remember back in the 90's when I had to catch an airing of the "All Dogs Go To Heaven" sequel on TV (shudder), and couldn't help but noticed the nearly dozen studios globally that were involved in that slop.

I wish I didn't have to watch this monstrosity, but someone has to look after that wikipedia page, so I might as well.

There's literally no DVD you can just buy normally in order to just get a tiny bit of quality presentation of ANY version of the film. Download it and save your money for stuff that actually had thought put into it like from Warner Bros. or Criterion.
Especially the fourth Looney Tunes box that came out last Tuesday! Wished I had some extra cash lying around to get it.
