I believe if all the ice melted the oceans would rise about a foot. So yes, no tidal waves over New York. But it would be enough to completely change the weather systems and make earth uninhabitable.
Call me what you like, but if it's not in the book of revelation, I'm not too worried about it ending that way. I think this planet will out survive us.
Two guys from San Diego. Every year they assemble a collection of short animated films and put on a festival that tours around the country. There's a lot of funny ones and a lot of artsy ones. It's like a travelling independent film festival for animated shorts.
Speaking of Santa, has anyone heard of Spike and Mike's sick and twisted film festival? It's for the short films that are too edgy for their standard festival of animation.
There was one cartoon where a little boy runs downstairs on christmas morning. He's looking around the christmas tree and sees a present from Santa! He tears it open and looks inside...it's a new pair of shoes! But the boy looks downcast, and becomes quite sad. He looks down, and you see that he has no feet.
The camera then pans over to the window where Santa and Rudolph are watching, trying not to laugh.
All I can say is he is one of my least favorite people in the country.
I hate it when you're sick enough to feel sick but not sick enough to stay home from work. Not as bad as when you are REALLY sick. But still. Come on body. Put me in bed or shape up, huh?
Startrooper just used Ric and She together; I'm assuming he (or she...sorry but with Star Wars fans my default gender assumption is male) knows the members of the community pretty well.
Of course I've always known that there must be a combination of men and women on this site. But most of the time, people talk about wives or girlfriends. On top of that, when we're talking about Star Wars fans, it's usually a safe assumption that it's other males. We tend to flock to that sort of thing. So anyone I read on this site, I realized, I assume they're male.
Just wondering, are there any women-folk out there? As my handle suggests, I fall on the male side of things. (I mean screen name handle. Perverts.)
It's hard to separate climate cycles from "global warming." Obviously there was some global warming at the end of the ice age. Right now the Atlantic is heating up, causing more storms. But it was this warm before, and then cooled down. We haven't been mapping climate long enough to even begin to understand what the earth can withstand and what it does naturally.
That said, there are things humans are doing that are raising the temperature. That combined with with the subtle warming looks awfully dangerous. But be aware that there are scientists on both sides of the debate. I really don't know how worried I should be; I'm not defending or attacking "global warming" theory.
Unfortunately the Pres is a single person. You have to take the good with the bad (although I know many people only see bad right now). I do support Bush, but I oppose his environmental policy. I wish I could take someone else's environmental policy and Bush's position on other policies, but I can't.
No, I like it Eros. Not one of the most imaginative resolutions, but it ties together all the loose ends (from I to VI) with a very simple thought. not too much of a reach.
What confuses me is that Jackson said in the documentaries that Treebeard is one of his favorite characters. They did a great job with the voice and concept and all, but how could you reverse your favorite character's ... whatever. He did a great job, really.
Yeah, it totally did. It's hard to know what they do on purpose and what is an accident. They usually try to put lots of stuff in there (like in Monsters Inc, Boo gives Sully a series of toys in her room. Those were all renders from previous pixar works, including a stuffed clown fish for Nemo that wasn't out yet). They may be messing with us....maybe not.
I remember how excited the episode I trailer made me. Just the whole experience. When the STAR WARS appeared on screen at the midnight showing, that was one of the few times in my life I involuntarily screamed with excitement. It's too bad it's just not there anymore. I saw the trailer in the theatre, it was good. It even looks like a good movie with a lot of substance to it. But I'm just not motivated.
It's hard to judge the trailer out of the context of the whole Star Wars experience.
I was raised on Dark Forces and Bond. When I first tried Halo, I used the Bond controls because I was used to it. At some point I decided to switch, and later played Half Life (PS2 version) and Halo with default controls. Point is, I can certainly sympathize with not being used to the controls. It really gets ingrained in you. I was playing like I was drunk for a VERY long time. Turning left instead of right, strafing into corners and not knowing how to get out, etc.
Those are all cool theories. At this point, I just roll with it. I'm not trying to meld the two trilogies. You can look at it impressionistically; brush strokes that come together to create an experience even though they don't all blend into each other. Sometimes you just have to.
My roommate (who doesn't care for gaming) played an 8 player Slayer last night and he was won over.
Later this month another guy is moving into our house, who has an xbox. That will give us three TV's and two boxes; we already have the router. Hot diggity.
If you watch from 1:15 to 1:20, or thereabouts, there is a quick clip of a smoking Greedo falling forward onto the table. Not the whole scene though :/ It's during the portion where they are talking about the public's first exposure to the completed film.
I will let you know if it pops up again sometime, but I'm guessing that's it.
