Then feminism dug it up and killed it again.

There's a key difference between "equality" and "congruency." The sexes are equal, they are not congruent. But since many men cause many women to fight for the respect they deserve, many women pre-empt that whole exchange by discounting male opinion, and so the circle goes on and on. I don't see it ever getting better.

But it's a good thing when a woman is proud to be a woman and would rather do that than the alternative. Girls do rock.

Maybe Leia and Lando would have gotten it on. Like the sleeper-bet, comes through from behind at the last moment. I don't think Lando and the Ewoks would have been as endearing together, either.

But I'm sure Han would have spiced up the space battle. (I love Lando, but Han is Han after all)

That galaxy could have used some good microprocessing and integration, sheesh.

Do you think Han would have worked as the General leading the attack on the Death Star? Or are you talking within the constraints of having all the characters together?

I'm notoriously bad at distinguishing between joking and seriousness in plain text.

(I'm guessing, based on the convenient timing of the appearance and the low post count that I'm spectating a joke here, but I'd rather be laughed at for guessing wrong than for jumping into something I didn't understand)

I think that would have been a better role for him. Larger in terms of plot, smaller in terms of screen time and lines. That's probably why they sent him down to Endor, to have more of him. Piloting the falcon is his natural element, though.

I guess you're right, I'd never thought of it that way. In the first two movies Han is integral to the plot, transporting everyone and keeping them safe, right in the thick of it. In ROTJ, he's overwhelmed by events. Leia is still big politically, but especially as being a potential Jedi and a sister she gets caught up in Luke's plot. Luke as the title character of course plays a big role. Han gets dwarfed in the struggle; though, without an important role to play. We follow him because we need to know about him, not because he is doing something we need to know about.

Interesting. Poor Han. At least he gets the girl.

I've always wondered about the "No dogs except seeing-eye dogs" signs. Is that qualification for the blind person or the dog?

Also, where I grew up (in San Diego) there was a big sign that said "Drive Thru Parking". I never worked out what they intended by that.

Sounds cool. I tend to like anime a lot but a) there's so much out there I wouldn't know where to start b) I'm really not struggling to fill up my spare time right now, and c) I'm always worried I'm going to stumble into some "mature themes" before I know what's going on.

I did however get sucked into Cowboy Bebop. That's one that's fairly accessible in the states since they show it on the Cartoon Network, and in my opinion it is a masterpiece. I still have about 4 episodes to go, but unfortunately I had a hint of what happens at the end :/

I find it fascinating how large an effect little things have. Really, it is just a few little things occupying a few minutes of total screen time out of 100 minutes or so. 95 percent of the movie is untouched, yet the whole thing feels different. Likewise with MagnoliaFan's stuff, so much of it is untouched, but just a few minor changes have a large effect on the whole. What power the editor has...

Not to make gender an issue, Mirax, but we've just been realizing that some of our big posters are actually women and we didn't know it. So a shout out to all the female Star Wars fans.

I, regrettably, haven't played Metroid. The xbox and ps2 take up enough time and money. I'm hoping when the next generation comes out the price will come down enough for a third system to be worth it.

I never beat Castlevania...

I finally killed Frankenstein at some point, but never got through the next level. Megaman likewise, I could get to the Dr. Wiley parts but never get all the way to him. Congrats on beating them.
