Great movies you hate.

I don’t hate it (more like indifferent), but I didn’t really like Monty Python and the Holy Grail all that much. I found it just OK. I honestly think the opening credits are literally the best part of the movie. I did have some scattered laughs throughout the movie after that, but no belly laughs (apart from the opening credits).

Hate to say it, but I’m also one of the few who agree with you. Although I think the movie peaked with the infamous black knight scene. After that, it all went downhill for me, and the jokes became more… Ehh.

Thank you! I felt so alone. In terms of humour I much prefer Airplane. I also didn’t expect the Black Knight scene to be so early in the movie!

I forgot to add that near the end of the movie I was thinking “when will this be over?”

Imagine if Leslie Nielsen or (better yet) Stephen Stucker was King Arthur!

The USA really isn’t all that bad. Yes it has serious issues (such as the whole abortion issue), but it’s still a decent country. It is in NO way a “shithole”. Be glad you’re not living in North Korea.

Tell that to all the Indigenous people who died or lost their culture to genocide, and the black slaves who experienced the same. Tell that to every poor American currently suffering and dying needlessly to preventable illness due to America’s inhumane health care system.

As for those living in North Korea, I’m sure they’d be doing a smidgen better if the US hadn’t first bombed the place to near-oblivion, not to mention all the sanctions in the decades following.

But I’ll end my spiel here, if that’s your wish.

Look, I’m not trying to undermine the colonization, treatment of the Indigenous population as well as enslavement of Africans (which both honestly deeply upset me), and the bad healthcare. Those are very serious issues. I’m just trying to say America isn’t completely bad and is nowhere near as bad as other countries. Sorry if I sounded like I was undermining anything. I also take back the “at least it isn’t North Korea” bit. I’d say more like “At least you don’t live in Medieval Europe.”

I do not support the overturning of the Roe v. Wade, (I also ain’t American), but to say that America is a shithole is just taking things to the extreme.

And oh Lor’, don’t devolve into political bickering. I honestly feel uneasy reading the last few posts.

Also, fuck pessimism!

Logan’s Run

It was fun and overall a good movie, but not something I’d watch again. The story was interesting, but the second half (when they meet Peter Ustinov) it began to grow boring and kinda stopped momentum. The ending also felt incomplete.

Overall still something I’d recommend.

Also, those green-screen effects

They don’t make 'em like they used to…thank God!

Oh, that one’s a classic, but I’d have to argue that it’s the other way 'round. A Man Getting Hit In The Crotch 800 Times was about 4384156298772949076547 Billion times funnier than Airplane!, The Naked Gun trilogy, and all the Monty Python films COMBINED. Best movie of 2006, bar none. I laughed so hard I not only pissed myself, but also shat myself and even came a little. Not to mention passed out from exhaustion due to laughing SO BLOODY HARD! That’s how funny it is! A Man Getting Hit by a Football, while it is undeniably funny, pales in comparison to Wallace Termite’s (who is the greatest director who ever lived, much better (about 727849261000 BILLION TIMES FUNNIER) than Kubrick, Spielberg, Tarantino, Wright and ZAZ COMBINED) comedic genius. He’s the god of comedy. Much more than the king.

I can’t WAIT for the sequel A Man Getting Hit in the Head 800 Times. But I bet it won’t be as good as the original.

What the hell is this when I search for some actor and sometimes it shows “[Insert actor here] death” even then said actor is still alive and well!. For example, Tom Lehrer. On of the TOP search results is “tom lehrer death” even though he’s still alive and kicking (as of now).

As well as that, just for the lolz, I remember years ago I looked up the lyrics for Clementine on Google and was greeted to the lyrics of a parody version. Go home, Google. You’re drunk.

Now, I absolutely adore Archive.org, but the WayForward machine, while it’s somewhat accurate at predicting a possible future internet that’s severely restricted, the timeline is just plain cartoonish. “The last copy of 1984 is destroyed and some guy makes it publicly available and gets locked up for life”? Insert Jameson laughing and saying “you serious?” Now that’s about as likely as aliens invading us. There’s many more overblown bosh in the timeline. While I believe there likely will be a few massive corporations controlling a majority of the internet, as well as one solidified news company, Wikipedia being driven underground, ads being implanted into your fucking brain as well as copyrighting facts seems extremely unlikely and sounds like the plot of a dystopian B-movie.

I still love archive.org, but maybe they can find a better way forward by not blowing shit out of proportion.
