Do any of the DVDs have them unaltered?
Do any of the DVDs have them unaltered?
Turns out there is some cut footage on the current two part releases of Return/Revenge of the Evil Leaper compared to the original broadcast so I’m doing a reconstruction with that and HD footage
Christine on one of its VHS (or possibly laserdisc) releases it has an extended version which spliced back in many of the deleted scenes which are provided separately on DVD
I know this one is DVD but The Devil’s Advocate has only one home video release that is of the theatrical version due to a lawsuit involving a sculpture from the movie. Only 125,000 DVD copies were made which are extremely OOP now as all other versions are edited to remove the sculpture for the majority of the movie.
oh fuck the upscaling of the master just proves how awful it is behind the poor DVD compression
Ed Harris in one of those shots looks like a wax statue
Well there is a 4K remaster being done by Universal so I’d expect that to be more correct
It’s not bad perse but it’s unfaithful to the truly intended look
Interesting, I heard in another thread here that version contained the shot on the DVD
Anyway, from what I heard it mainly involved adding some minor sound effects (like with the fire stream during the bar fight and additional ricochet sounds in points)
That definitely looks really weird
Also the CGI jeep shot has repeatedly been said to be present on the 2008 DVD
I know the BD has some small audio alterations too but idk what
If you’re referring to the boulder rod and snake reflection removal honestly I’ve never made a big deal about that considering how small those differences have been
At least the original matte painting was restored for the Jeep shot instead of the CGI version from the 2008 DVD
Also the accusations about DNR were false as there is plenty of grain in the BD transfer
The blu-ray IS the original color timing, it was just someone happened to grade the print scan floating around the internet to match the DVDs.
According to a friend of mine who saw a recent screening of an original 35mm print, the yellow tint of the blu-ray is supposed to be there, meaning the version floating around the internet that’s of a print has incorrect colors like the DVD.
Don’t believe what others say cause they’re most likely basing their source off of the incorrectly graded print circulating around here.
Has anyone ever been able to locate the Mono Mix for Dirty Harry.
Not the mono retracked into stereo as on the laserdisc. But the actual authentic mix.
I’m also looking for the Mono Mix for Bullitt and American Graffiti.
Yes I have the mono mix for Dirty Harry, don’t know about Bullitt
The mono mix for American Graffiti isn’t available on home video
15 here
I was hoping it’d be a pre-filtered version of the same mono mix, I know that was the case for the video considering it’s the same master but didn’t have the same filtering as the blu-ray.
I’ll still take those small flaws out of not having the mono track at all though
I’m gonna be getting the 4K most likely myself soon so I’ll confirm everything by then
Might quite possibly be a pre-filtered version of the mono track and sounds like the one on the 2005 DVD
I know the extended version was released on DVD, I believe it was widescreen
is the 4K mono also noise reduced like the 2012 mono is? (which resulted in it being muffled)
or does it sound a lot more like the 2005 mono?
It sounded better than the BD mono?
make mine 20 dollars plz
can I send some possibly in a couple of weeks?
does anyone know how the mono sounds on the 4K version?
I’m curious to see what the look of this print will be like
Disney+ edits to movies/TV shows:
Adventures in Babysitting: Some lines from the TV edit have made their way into this streaming version; namely, the word “homo” is replaced by “weirdo”, and “fuck” is replaced by “fool”.
The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin: This is a somewhat obscure Western film starring Roddy McDowall. I’ve never seen it, but apparently, some racial slurs have been erased.
Free Solo: Another film I’ve never seen. The phrase “fucked up” is replaced by “messed up”. “Goddamn” is also taken out of a TV documentary in a later scene.
Gravity Falls: Season 1 episodes have mysteriously removed the symbol on Grunkle Stan’s fez. This was apparently an edit made for overseas countries that somehow made it onto our version of the streaming service.
Hannah Montana: For whatever reason, a Season 2 episode has a character’s name changed from “Isis” to “Ice”. Despite this, another character named “Isis” in an episode of Even Stevens has not been altered.
Splash: The most infamous of all the edits. All instances of nudity have been blurred out, cropped, or covered by CGI hair.
There are more examples I didn’t mention, and possibly more that nobody has discovered yet. Are any of you guys brave enough to look for more?
Santa Clause also edits out the 1-800 Spank Me scene, this originated on the DVD release but other certain streaming versions oddly enough restored the scene.
Lilo and Stitch used the UK edit of the scene where Lilo hides in a pizza box instead of the dryer
The Simpsons episode Stark Riving Dad is left off due to the Michael Jackson cameo, though I believe unfortunately this was done in all streaming sites (stemming possibly from the “documentary” HBO aired Leaving Neverland)
