I doubt they’re any better or worse than the first DVD considering it highly likely uses the same master
The Sting was originally released with mono audio and that’s how it was retained up to the first DVD release. When the movie saw a widescreen DVD release in 2005 it got a remixed 5.1 track that changed a lot of sound effects, fortunately the original track was included as well. Unfortunately when the movie came to blu-ray the original track got excluded and we only got the remix in English. Then there came a 4K release with some hoping the original mono track would be restored but sadly once again has been excluded.
I decided to make this thread in an attempt to preserve the original mix. It would be preferable for there a rip exist of the very first (open-matte) DVD because it reportedly had a better audio mastering than the 2005 DVD, but even the 2005 DVD would be fine with me.
If anyone has anything please let me know.

I’m curious, what’s wrong with the home video versions which would require a scan of the 35mm?
The original/current BD heavily screwed up the color timing and contrast, reminds me of The Matrix’s original BD in a way.
I assume they used the 2.1 transfer as a base, as the credits use the SM3 font rather than the original. Ironically, the 2007 Blu-Ray was way too “Blue.” These issues were fixed in the “Mastered in 4K” BD release in 2014, but only for that BD and the eventual 4K release. So the 2017 legacy collection uses the 2007 transfer, unfortunately.
There was actually a small change made after the theatrical release that was in all home video editions
Whenever you see the hospital exterior earlier in the movie the cross was changed to white unlike how it was in the theatrical release where it was red colored, due to complaints from the actual red cross corporation
I haven’t heard anything of the DVDs being edited but a few episodes are missing
Can you possibly fix the one for Minority Report?
It is true that the BD has a different color timing than the DVD, but it’s far more likely that the BD is closer to theatrically accurate because its look is very consistent with Spielberg’s 2000s movies (ex. War of the Worlds) and the DVD looks much more teal than it needs to be

The top fan choice for GBU can now be the 4K from Kino Lorber
With the exception of the opening producer credit (altered in 1998 for legal reasons) it is 100% the original US theatrical version, thankfully it also fixes the issue from the 1993 LD where a shot of an exploding wall was missing
Kino went as far as to use a 4K scan of a 1967 print and use the mono track from the laserdisc to restore the audio and missing shots (I’m sure they used a different source for the missing shot though)
I am interested in your 90210 copies, was watching them HULU tonight and noticed music was missing as well as episodes.

The 4K transfer is glorious too from a technical standpoint, much better than the LOTR 4K transfers
The 4K I actually think fits the movie the best and some sections actually match the print really well

It’s highly likely this is the most faithful to the original prints considering this is clearly a much more recent remaster and the look is consistent with the director’s other movies like The Ring
I am wondering either who I can contact about the restored seasons, or where I can get them. My wife and daughter just started watching the series together and my wife says it’s not the same with the “new” music. Also, the video quality is pretty terrible.

Old but that boom mic removal applies to specifically the original R-rated US DVD release, it had a few “tweaks” done to it to accommodate for it being open matte

I could probably do a composite edit of this. There’s one thing, footage-wise, that’s exclusive to the ABC version, a different thing with Shannon Hamilton on the screen at the end. Other than that I could just take the sections of dubbed audio and re-cut the extended cut to match the ABC cut. I have it recorded SLP on a VHS tape, along with the edited-for-TV Clerks (which features only two visual censors, and drops out every curse word). I don’t really have the time to work on a composite of it right now, but maybe in a few months I will.

Arrow’s blu-ray release has it even though instead of 4x3 it’s in its theatrical ratio, including the SD inserts
@SpacemanDoug In some episodes like Inspector Gadget and The Garbage Pail Kids, some scenes have been spliced out due to a copyright claim. I will take different versions of those episodes and add those scenes back in.
I do remember one alteration in the Nostalgiaween episodes whenever they parodied the X-Files intro, it wasn’t there before but eventually they replaced the X-Files theme tune with some crappy substitution cause of a claim (ex. The Haunting)
