2006 GOUT : The changes to the OT films & general 2006 GOUT DVD discussion thread
Time

Unfortunately these DVD releases on their own have some changes, though this is also the first home video release to have the original 1977 title crawl in the first movie

A lot of sound effects though mostly minor were added for the 1993 masters, one notable one was during the shootout in the prison cells glass breaking sounds were added whenever monitors were shot at

Info: Mono soundtracks that were butchered with 5.1 remixes in later releases
Time

I do know for a fact that the blu-ray of Teen Wolf is incorrectly pitched, not sure if the DVD has the same issue

Also I will say that the remix for Animal House is indeed quite annoying, but at least it has the original songs cause I know one of the DVD releases changed a bunch of them (I think the double secret probation edition)

What exactly was changed in the first scene???

Don’t know necessarily the first scene

I do know at the end when the Warden shoots himself the wound was digitally shifted to fix a continuity error

I think there was another change as well when that one guy is shot by the sniper, it was changed to four shots instead of two supposedly, though without getting a VHS version I can’t really confirm anything. Based on the way it’s edited it’s possible it was always 4 shots in the US release but cut in the UK to two

Close Encounters 3rd Kind... any project on the "complete" version 143 minutes?

Shouldn’t this thread be in the Fan Edits of Other Properties subforum?

yes it should be

also three different versions are included on the official 4K release of the movie, the ABC versions simply took the various different scenes from the theatrical and 1980 special edition versions and combined them together (sans some of the alternative theatrical material)

I believe someone already made this fan edit a while ago

Help: Teen Wolf - original theatrical mono track preservation
Time

Some of you might be wondering “why do we need to preserve this track? Isn’t it already available in mono on blu-ray?” Well indeed, the original MGM blu-ray does have a mono track but it’s not correct. Besides a few changes here and there the most jarring factor is how the entire movie is pitched down lower than it should be. Most noticeable with the music. Shout! Factory had an opportunity to correct this mistake with their edition but all they ended up doing was upmixing the altered mono track to stereo.

What I want in this thread is possible to achieve getting a laserdisc rip of this movie cause I know for sure those aren’t altered. Not sure if the MGM DVD has the same pitch issues or not but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.

If anyone is able to send me anything please let me know.

I too have the Australian blu. Wouldn’t mind the US Theatrical cut in HD.

I found this 10GB version on myspleen

Conan.the.Barbarian.1982.Theatrical.Cut.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP2.0.H.264-ETHiCS.mkv.torrent

Ah yes that’s my upload and it’s taken from a much more recent scan, it looks better than the blu-ray and the missing audio cues and sound effects are restored on it

Help Wanted: PolyGram Films (1997-1999) Logo Restoration
Time

If saving up on a 35mm scan of the logo is too much for you, you might as well save up on a Shout Select Blu-ray of the 1998 black comedy Very Bad Things, just to source the theatrical trailer from it, which could possibly have the PolyGram Films logo at the beginning, even though it only lasts a fraction of a second. But it’s hard to tell whether it has the PolyGram logo or the plastered Initial Entertainment Group (IEG) logo played at the beginning, but we won’t know until the truth sets in.

Blu-ray Available for Purchase: https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/very-bad-things?product_id=7275

based on the VHS opening, the IEG logo was always there and the Polygram logo was added before it, don’t know if Shout’s blu-ray restores it though

with the exception of Trilogy: Part II and Return/Revenge of the Evil Leaper being in their split versions instead of their movie cuts (and for some Lee Harvey Oswald) then the Mill Creek releases are pretty much completely restored, I reconstructed Trilogy II and Return/Revenge

Where could I find the reconstructed versions of Trilogy II and Return/Revenge? Also about Lee Harvey Oswald, would that be correct on the mill creek release or no? thx

I shared both my reconstructions on myspleen but I can share them with you in PMs if you like, also for Lee Harvey Oswald, sadly it’s split on the Mill Creek version but correct on the Fabulous Films BD, I also shared that on myspleen so it’s no longer exclusive to their release
