I’d want a rip of those somewhere
I’d want a rip of those somewhere
What I wanna know is if they’re the same TV soundtrack as the DVD
I’m sure a lot of you remember the recent preservation of the international edit of this movie called Wages of Fear which was drastically different from the version in the US which is what Friedkin prefers. However, this time we will concentrate on this cut rather than the “Wages of Fear” cut. Whenever the movie got a blu-ray release in 2014, it saw an entirely new audio mix created where despite it originally being in stereo, a lot of the sound effects were changed (namely gunshots and explosions) and there is no option for the original mix.
The original US DVD was in stereo but I heard a rumor that it was potentially a TV soundtrack meaning the swearing was taken out, so I was hoping someone would potentially have a rip of the laserdisc or VHS to see if it’s uncut language wise or not. If not one could possibly reconstruct the original mix by restoring the swearing in moments when needed. If anyone has any sources please let me know, I think the original mix really needs preserving of this 70s classic.
The US DVD Is Literally A TV Print
yea that doesn’t surprise me, what about the laserdisc and VHS?

That’s amazing
Taxi Driver’s 4K release that’s part of Columbia Classics Collection: Volume 2 includes the mono mix.
for real?
Isn’t there a lot more with original soundtracks that don’t include any 5.1 mix at all? Just going from my BD shelf, the first Vacation movies and Driver. I think many obscure films only contain the original stereo/mono mix.
the Vacation movies were actually never remixed, the first two are in mono and the third in stereo on their blu-ray releases, the fourth one is in 5.1 but my guess is that it was always in 5.1
However the first movie has a song changed in it but it’s been an issue since the second VHS
Okay from what I have gathered, the following mono mixes and 2.0 mixes of movies that have been includes in recent releases of movies as of 2010-2021 are…(Deep Breath)
Scarface (From a recent Blu-Ray that included the 2.0 mix)
Mad Max (From the recent 4k Ultra High Definition Disc)
Superman: The Movie (Included on the Superman Theatrical Edition 2006 and Onwards)
The Godfather Parts I, II, and even III (Depends on who you ask really)Wow. That was a very short list.
Now lets list some that were not restored with there original sounds…
The Terminator
The Godfather???
The Exorcist
Star Wars
…and so many more. 😦
The DIRECTOR’S CUT remix of The Exorcist is the revisionist one, the theatrical blu-ray’s 5.1 track has all of the original sounds with no changes whatsoever since the mix was created in 1998 before the director’s cut even existed
The Godfather on the blu-ray has the original audio as an alternative
I promise I’ll send my share in this coming week
The original mono track is on the Kino Lorber 4K and blu-ray
I should know cause I had to help prove to everyone that it wasn’t a downmix
The Kino Lorber 4K uses the laserdisc track
the guy to contact is on reddit, I don’t wanna publicly reveal his name
Could you tell me how to get in touch with this guy?
It was a dude I met on reddit
Both me and him are restoring the episodes of the show, over half of it is done currently
I can PM you more about it if you want
Can you PM me?
I did
Hey if there’s an updated version able to be made, I acquired 1080p rips of the original movie episodes for the seasons 4-5 finales and season 6 premiere, they all had their scenes re-arranged along with some minor cuts (plus I have the reconstructions of the movie edits for the seasons 1-3 finales in 1080p)
If you’re interested in getting them let me know
This was captured by a member here so we are good. If anyone needs a copy I can provide one via DM.
can I get one too?
could you pm me any info?

From what I know the 1999 DVD is the best source for the mono audio
A capture of it exists
update:
I met someone on reddit who’s reconstructing the episodes using a variety of recordings and DVD footage, right now he just started on season 5
Very interested to put my hands on it.
Do you have a link to the reddit page or user? Thanks
yes I do
can you please show me where to go i love tori!!!
Do you want a PM?
Hello, I’d love to get the series with the original music and all episodes. Hulu has completely failed at providing this show.
PM sent
I’d like to contribute
I would be interested in digital copies containing the original music and all original episodes as well. Thank you.

I have them all (except for Gypsies…).
In fact, you used my notes to create this post. 😉
Can you also please help me locate these? I didn’t even knew there were uncut episodes until recently and I have searching everywhere to find them.
I have all except Gypsies
I’d like to get digital copies with original music

Is it finished now?
The transfer is finished, but I’m still waiting on the encode to be done for the movie. Once that is finished I’ll set up a download in my Discord server for both the raw transfer, and a “remastered” version. Is sharing links to Discord here against the rules? If not I’ll edit this post with a Discord link for further updates.
it is on the public forums yes, but you can PM others a link if they’re interested
The 5.1 mix on the new 4K of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly takes out the new sound effects and the mono track is a newly restored one taken from the 1990 laserdisc
Is it finished now?
