So the idea I suggested to you was not my own. Back in the day, Trooperman made an edit: Shroud of the Dark Side. Here was his version of that scene:

Because there’s no close up of Anakin hitting against the wall, it comes off as comical imo.

Why not have the thing Dooku chucks at Anakin follow him and also hit the wall?
Both hit the wall (use the close up), recolor the lightning to yellow/white, add in some additional electrical sound fx…then it might come off as this object having excess electricity while hitting Anakin?
Just a thought.

I mean it looks janky and smooths out his face too much. If this was what Lucasfilm did, then there would be outrage for the overuse of CGI.

I’d rather have Hayden himself just do it, as it doesn’t really matter since he still looks youngish.

To be clear, the person who made this said it was their first time using deepfacelab…so yes it’s a bit janky. Plus the video doesn’t look quite high rez so that doesn’t help either.
I’m sure someone out there (cough shamook cough) can make a better one.

The scene is pretty great…and I can certainly watch it and enjoy it for what it is. At the same time, the visible age difference with Anakin is a bit distracting and I personally would like to see someone tackle a de-aged version again.

Hmm…I wonder if, because of the prequels being shot at 1080p (right?) that Lucasfilm didn’t have enough high rez material to work from to pull off a deepfake? Maybe?

omg yes! That was absolutely terrible looking! Vader didn’t look integrated into the scene. Terrible green screen or however they did it. The mustafar sky in the background looked like someone used a noise effect in their video editing software and barely adjusted the settings. It took me right out of watching the show.

I mean, there shouldn’t be grain in the first place, right? Those were shot digitally. Or am I not understanding?

Instead of saying “the Falcon” maybe have him say “YT Corellian freighter” ?

The only thing that threw me off was the CU of Kylo when he says "She’s going to steal a ship to escape!”
You would just need to flip the shot so he’s facing screen left like in the other shots.
Other than that, I like it!

I would agree. Specifically the word “launch”. I first viewed it on my phone where I completely missed that word. Just now watched it on my pc and just barely heard it.

I just wanted to pop in and say this scene is coming together really nicely!

With that said, I don’t think Leia cutting off 3PO’s line works. I didn’t know it was coming and once I heard it, it threw me way off and I had to go back and rewatch it. Now, if you had a way to cut to her saying the line, that would be different. Without seeing her say the line, I think it’ll just be confusing as to what is happening.

I’ve noticed with upscaling, the first frame of every new shot looks odd. As far as i know, the only way to fix this is to then upscale a rendered out scene in reverse, then replace those odd looking frames.
I believe Adywan did this with his upscaled ESB:R.
Do you plan on doing this as well?

Yeah it is kinda buried in the mix…easy to miss.

While not a deepfake, i thought I’d include my attempt at a slightly younger Palpatine. I doctored a single frame in photoshop, applied it to surface mesh in davinci resolve 18, and then applied a bit of face refinement on top of that.
