Some really cool stuff here! Any updates?

On a different note, I remember that someone added a hologram of some mystical stone wall to Palpatine’s offices in AOTC, but I can’t find it anymore. I was thinking about extending the scene in question.
Hmmm…I’d like to see that!
It’s looking really good! I’m certainly interested in seeing what you got for AOTC!
Through deepfaking and inserts, have a scene showing Anakin looking through ancient Sith texts and holocrons to find out if the Sith ever actually cheated death.
Maybe try to use footage of a Sith wayfinder as a Sith holocron, since those have never been shown in live action?
I like that idea!
The prequels CGI really needs an upgrade badly It’s so dated. It’s not even funny I mean, come on it looks like a video game. It doesn’t even look like it’s a movie anymore. It deserves better. As much as people hate the prequel’s I think the prequels deserve better with the CGI. So at least it matches up with the rest of the prequel era Star Wars. Like Alderaan etc. The fakeness of CGI has gone away so much that the prequel‘s really do deserve a coat of paint. It’s still fake looking, but so little bit that it’s more immersive it feels like it could be a real Planet etc., even though you obviously can tell it’s not. If that makes any sense.
I hear you…if I knew how, I’d redo basically every SFX shot in AOTC.
Oh…by-the-way, here’s another shot at a “deepfake” dooku:

Thank you, BrotherOfSasquatch. I appreciate the feedback!
I’ve had some trouble finding free stock footage for elements that will work (not interested in paying for anything right now).
So, actually, if anyone knows of a website or a certain youtube channel that has decent free stock footage, let me know! 😁I could probably help you out with this. I’ve got a pretty extensive backlog of stock footage/assets that I’ve saved up for a rainy day (no pun intended). Just let me know what sort of stuff you need and I could look through my archives and send you a link with all of it.
Well, that’s very kind! I’ll certainly take you up on that offer!😃
Anakin is written as a creep in AOTC, but that wasn’t driven home so completely until I watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ww3NDNC4eA
It’s an interpretation of the character which might actually work in isolation and could be fascinating. However, it is this aspect of the prequels, above anything else, that makes them fundamentally incompatible with the spirit of the OT. Luke’s journey is predicated on the belief that his father was basically a good man, but if Anakin is really just a predatory creep then his redemption rings hollow. But take away Anakin’s predatory and creepy behavior and you have removed his most distinctive and interesting trait.
I don’t know how you would go about fixing this problem.
I attempted to have this more explicit by having Vader begin as a fugue state. A dark robed figure that follows him around and removes people that anger him until eventually Anakin is lost, realises he is Vader and only Vader remains.
Somehow I hadn’t watched that video that Nev posted…really great insight!

Thanks! Yep, I’ve started working on it…
I wish all cgi would be updated in all three prequels because this looks amazing.
Well, that’s very kind. Thank you! I can’t promise any other shots I attempt are going to look as good!🤣
I’ve tackled the Jango/Boba Fett studio apartment scene.
To quote George: “I might’ve gone too far in a few places.”
Thanks! Yep, I’ve started working on it…

Someone else left a comment on the channel saying I need to adjust the levels and the feathering on the mask of the city to make it blend in better and I think that’ll help quite a bit.
I’m fairly pleased with this FX shot I created. Ok, well, really I found some free stock footage and I pieced together…but it comes together pretty nicely imo. Hopefully, I can continue to get better with fx (why are they so hard for me?😆)
skip to the end to see it in context.😁

Yeah I tend to agree with you on this. It’s quite hard getting anything that sounds…well…not robotic.
I’ve just recently begun looking into this. I didn’t know what it was called until I came across a video that mentioned it in it’s description. Thanks! Why not use a hayden sound alike? If there’s a Ryan golden type of va who can do anakin just like he can do Vader then why not?
I mean, sure, it might be something I look into. But I’m having too much fun playing around with this AI stuff! 😄

Is that JK Simmons laughing at the beginning of the video? 😛 A part of me thinks that you should make a duet of your homestead song with Jar jar, who won’t stop singing with improper english. 🤣
When it comes to your edits, I like the fact that Anakin knows Owen. I think I would preferably also cut Cliegg’s introduction, because I guess it would make sense that they’ve already met. Perhaps AI could make him say “Hello, son” or just “son” since I think he later says “Your mother’s dead, son”. Then he would still say that they’ve got a lot to talk about. I’m also a big fan of cutting the bar scene with Zam. Before I saw that clip, I don’t think it occured to me that it was even possible! 😉
You mean sound effect with my logo? ha ha no…it’s some anime sound effect I found.
I hadn’t thought about changing any of Cliegg’s lines…hmmm…perhaps…Someone in my comments pointed out that if they are actually brothers, Owen’s last name would be Skywalker and not Lars (which, of course, it is in ANH). I felt quite stupid after that was pointed out! lol
So, I’m thinking I might rework Anakin’s dialogue to mention his cousin Owen. That would work, right? Cousins? And yeah, the cutting of the bar scene: I still think it’s my favorite cut I discovered while playing around in editing.
Thanks for the feedback! I’m honored to be the first thread you posted in here!😁That sir was me sir. It made sense to me that Beru was Anakin’s sister, that way Owen was his brother in law.
The old Decipher Card Game had a card for ANH character that was identified as Vader’s sister. Let the arguing about cannon begin.
I do like the idea of Beru being Anakin’s sister, however there’s not enough footage of her to play around with in order to really emphasize that.

- Removed the sequence where Anakin’s crappy friends come by to be crappy to him.
🤣🤣🤣
Hello all!
There have been several people who have asked me about trying out AI for Anakin’s voice in my edit. Well, I’ve just posted a test clip here:
It doesn’t sound 100% like Hayden…but I personally think it’s getting fairly close. I’ve also posted a poll in case you wanna vote on the quality of the voice. Of course, you can always sound off here too! But a lot of the discourse is on my channel.
Thanks!
I have to admit, for some reason I haven’t been checking your posts regularly, but man, I am IMPRESSED by some of the stuff you’ve done. You have been doing little things that I don’t think most editors have really considered, like changing Padmé’s expression in one seen, or create artificial depth of field in the shots of Geonosians to make it feel more real and to hide some of that early 2000’s CGI.
I may have overlooked some of your plans for the edit, but have you considered using voice AI to change Anakin’s dialogue, rather than totally redub him? I feel like total character redubs tend to break the illusion of fan edits, if you get what I mean.
But for real, you’re doing some pretty cool stuff with AOTC!
I somehow missed your post, RogueLeader! Thanks so much! I’m just trying things I’ve wanted to see so I’m glad others are enjoying it as well!
As far as AI voices, I’ve been testing it out in other videos. I’ve posted a few here and there. I did an early test of Anakin and it ended up sounding nothing like him so I used it as Owen Lars!😄
But I may try Anakin again. It can sometimes sound great but typically there are some terrible line reads as well so you have to try several iterations to get it closer to what you want.
I just put up another video of the deleted Padme’s Parents House scene:
If you wanna just see the scene itself, skip to around 12:26.
👍
A few short videos here…
“Geonosis Arena Shots”
Here I’ve altered a few shots to see if I can hide some of the dated CGI-ness:
“face restoration algorithm FIXES deleted Palpatine footage?”
In this video I’m trying a different way of upscaling SD footage (as opposed to using Topaz)
“ship fly by test”
This is an attempt at making a particular CGI shot look more like it was actually filmed as a model:
Anakin is knighted in the middle of AOTC when the Jedi give him the assignment to look over Padme.
This gives Anakin a more mature, independent role through more of the trilogy, so you don’t have to wait until episode 3 for him to not be such an underling anymore. It might also make Obi-Wan’s concerns that Anakin isn’t ready more sympathetic. I think a major problem with AOTC is that you don’t really emotionally connect to either Anakin or Obi-Wan, our two protagonists, and by doing this is makes the audience feel like Obi-Wan has more of a point.
The only issue is it’d require removing the padawan braid from a lot of shots which would be extremely tedious and painful.
I’m attempting something like this, only Anakin would be knighted at the end of the film.
I’m seeing a 40th anniversary screening with some family and friends on Saturday. The theatrical cut would be preferable of course, but I’m just happy to see a good Star Wars film in theaters haha.
Was it ever clarified why Empire’s 40th anniversary screenings used the 2011 Blu-ray rather than the more recent 2019 transfer? Hopefully that won’t be the same case here…
Yes, I was just wondering this. Once you see it, could you let us know which version it is?
What exactly is a Live to Picture audio track?
Jedi Council Marching Orders video:
In this video, I talk about what I’ve done to the scene in the Jedi temple where the Jedi Council give marching orders to Anakin and Obi-Wan.😁
Allow me to insert myself into the discussion with another shameless plug that very much addresses the topic of this thread:
Hopefully one can enjoy this whether they like the sequel trilogy or not.

This also reminds me, I wonder how easy it would be to remove JEJ’s own breathing (not Vader’s) in the Death Star briefing room scene:
“Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed (breathe) the ability to destroy a planet (breathe) is insignificant (breathe) next to the power of the force.”
OK, so I tried it myself and I think it works pretty well.
Granted, I “sweetened” it a little bit- or tried to. Anyways, it might help you decide if you want to try it or not in your version.
