Thanks, RogueLeader!
Thanks, RogueLeader!
Yes! This is so much better. I honestly think the original dialogue makes little sense anyway.
Ani: I care for you too, but I…
Padmé: You miss your mother.
What? You can’t care for one person and miss another person at the same time? It’s just a confusing thing to say.
Ha yes! That’s another reason I cut it. Although that idea of Anakin missing his mother might be helpful. I know it’s also mentioned in the Jedi Council scene as well…but if one wanted to have that moment here in this scene it could go:
Padme: …a little too warm for my taste.
-Anakin looks down
Padme: You miss your mother
-Anakin looks back up at Padme
-wider shot of Anakin giving Padme the trinket
It might be too jarring visually…going from wide shots to close ups back to wide shots…
Are there any edits of TPM where this scene has been rearranged?:
Specifically putting Padme’s lines “I’m not sure what’ll happen” at the end? As I was trying this out, it seemed like a no-brainer to end it here instead of with the kind of odd “You miss your mother”.
Not exactly radical, but I feel it helps move things along.
😎 you already have with the first two parts!
Ah…that makes sense…it won’t take terribly long to go through those changes. I look forward to that as well…some of those shots I’ve never seen. Is the alternate shot of Anakins robot hand available? Hell, what about Maul NOT being sliced in half? I’ve only ever seen a single image of that one…if it was even real…
I’m curious, what’s part four going to be about?
Damn this makes a big difference. Well done!
Whats’ funny is, watching this second version, I didn’t really question the “voices” in Reys head this time. There is a line of logic to it-…actually, OK, you know what? I now see where you’re coming from.
The whole point of this is she is giving into anger over Hans murder.
It took me a while but I finally got there, folks! Sorry to those who had no problems seeing the connection!
The only thing you might want to look at is adding a bit of an EQ boost to Han and Kylos lines…just brighten them up a bit to have them stand out a bit more.
Again, well done!

I love the idea behind this. Rey tapping into the dark side. I honestly wonder if this was something they played with in the editing of the theatrical. Because they had the footage right in front of them to do this. Very interesting…
I’ll go ahead and throw some of my technical thoughts out there:
These observations got me to thinking: what was the logic behind these particular audio clips you chose? I’m not saying they were wrong…because I’ll admit sometimes this sort of stuff can go over my head…but depending on your goal, there could potentially be better- or more suitable clips. Or I could be entirely wrong! 😛
By-the-way, this is great stuff! Hopefully my comments will only help make it better…or maybe just solidify your original choices! 😄
…and then we continue on as normal, as the silver droid leaves the waiting room, and the two Jedi finally reveal themselves, as Obi-Wan says “I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS”, followed by Qui-Gon saying “I DON’T SENSE ANYTHING”, followed by Obi-Wan saying “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MISSION MASTER, IT’S SOMETHING…ELSEWHERE, ELUSIVE” -
…and then we CUT* to the hologram of Palpatine telling Nute Gunray “WE MUST ACCELERATE OUR PLANS” -
I love that cut.
I second that.
Nicely done! I can’t say it’s a necessary change that should be implemented…although…hmmm…I do think more fan edits should do things like this…even if a scene plays out pretty much the same way, I feel like you’re watching it more intently thinking “wait, what’s different?”. It kind of makes one sit up and pay attention, ya know?
Thanks snooker!
Hey that’s MY line! Or- wait… 😄
Thanks guys!
Guys, I fixed the worst shot in Attack of the Clones:
Adywan in the past has laid out a few details…although I’m having trouble finding those. I did however find this from the man himself:

While it will be next year at least before i write up all the ideas i had for the PT, this is one thing that was worked on. It was to be included in the Complete Saga trailer i had planned, but when decided not to do the PT, it was scrapped and never properly finished, so is still in its very rough stages.
Yes I agree! Excellent video. I look forward to the other parts! I haven’t known about all of the audio changes. Quite fascinating!
Would this series of video be a primer for George Lucas: unreliable narrator & time travelling revisionist: the movie? 😉
For the climax of Phantom Menace to work, Anakin needs to be genuinely heroic, and not accidentally heroic.
I’ve seen many edits with similar thoughts to mine, except I’ve never really seen them rescore this section. In the original, Williams’ really plays into the childish aspect of Anakin’s character, which doesn’t fit if he’s doing all of this intentionally.
In order to do this I had to completely redo the sound design, I hope it sounds ok!
JEDIT: also, I plan on making my own Phantom Menace edit thread soon!
Yes again snooker! I’ll have to give it a good listen later with my head phones but yeah! Your use of the OT score in your clips is excellent as well. I look forward to your thread! 😁

I’m not sure if this counts as a “small detail” but I totally used the title of this thread in my video:
Harrison Ford does it even more blatantly while Leia is saying “Captain, being held by you isn’t quite enough to get me excited” in TESB.
Yes I know…did you finish watching the video? Or are you being sarcastic?

You big meany-head! 😉
I put the hyphen in the wrong place? Damn! 😄
Ha ha, no I’m just an idiot! Sorry! (Actually, my wife distracted me at the very last moment whilst watching your clip so, um, egg on face)…
😆
I didn’t mean Guy Henry’s mouth. I meant the CGI mouth from the original film.
Broom Kid specifically mentions the mouth movement from a deepfake as looking off.
So: Original CGI mouth on top of deepfake head might help. One might have to fiddle with the color and brightness curves, but, theoretically, everything should match up.
Unless, I’m misunderstanding Broom Kid…

Actually talking of voices, and from the same opening scene with the ‘ungloved hand’, the blond Imperial Officer who says “Inform the Commander that Lord Vader’s shuttle has arrived” speaks with a very noticeably American accent.
If you watch ESB and ROTJ back-to-back its actually quite jarring to hear the US accent from an Imperial officer right at the start of the film - in ESB the British accent was the voice of the Empire’s officer class and it gave the Empire a certain haughty aristocracy that worked very well.
Hardly a game changer but I think redubbing a British accent for that officer would be a nice little improvement to the movie.
Excellent point. I always thought that dub wasn’t very well done anyway. Doesn’t this dude show up later to deliver another line to Piett too?
Actually, other than Piett, are there any other officers that DO have a British accent? The “send three squads to help!” guy might be quasi British…I don’t know.
The Moff guy is also British in ROTJ, as is “Sir, we’ve lost our bridge deflector shields.” Still, some redubs would be good for ROTJ (adjusting dialogue).
Oh yeah. Moff Jerjerrod. Kind of a big role I forgot about. 😄
What I don’t like is that when you deep-fake a CGI creation, the mouth still doesn’t work, because the base you’re working from is fundamentally wrong. So you have the images of a real person trying to match the incorrect mouth movements of a digital recreation of that person. The deep-fakes of Carrie Fisher over CGI Leia have the same problem. Leia may look a little more realistic (only a little) and then she mouths the word “Hope” and suddenly she’s an effect.
I think it might be possible for someone to (using a feathered mask of sorts) plop down the original mouth on top of the deepfake.
