I’m not sure if this counts as a “small detail” but I totally used the title of this thread in my video:

https://youtu.be/dYb8ezhwuk8

Harrison Ford does it even more blatantly while Leia is saying “Captain, being held by you isn’t quite enough to get me excited” in TESB.

Yes I know…did you finish watching the video? Or are you being sarcastic?

You big meany-head! 😉

I put the hyphen in the wrong place? Damn! 😄

Ha ha, no I’m just an idiot! Sorry! (Actually, my wife distracted me at the very last moment whilst watching your clip so, um, egg on face)…

Rogue One - without CGI Peter Cushing test footage (* unfinished project *)
Time

I didn’t mean Guy Henry’s mouth. I meant the CGI mouth from the original film.
Broom Kid specifically mentions the mouth movement from a deepfake as looking off.

So: Original CGI mouth on top of deepfake head might help. One might have to fiddle with the color and brightness curves, but, theoretically, everything should match up.

Unless, I’m misunderstanding Broom Kid…

Actually talking of voices, and from the same opening scene with the ‘ungloved hand’, the blond Imperial Officer who says “Inform the Commander that Lord Vader’s shuttle has arrived” speaks with a very noticeably American accent.

If you watch ESB and ROTJ back-to-back its actually quite jarring to hear the US accent from an Imperial officer right at the start of the film - in ESB the British accent was the voice of the Empire’s officer class and it gave the Empire a certain haughty aristocracy that worked very well.

Hardly a game changer but I think redubbing a British accent for that officer would be a nice little improvement to the movie.

Excellent point. I always thought that dub wasn’t very well done anyway. Doesn’t this dude show up later to deliver another line to Piett too?

Actually, other than Piett, are there any other officers that DO have a British accent? The “send three squads to help!” guy might be quasi British…I don’t know.

The Moff guy is also British in ROTJ, as is “Sir, we’ve lost our bridge deflector shields.” Still, some redubs would be good for ROTJ (adjusting dialogue).

Oh yeah. Moff Jerjerrod. Kind of a big role I forgot about. 😄

What I don’t like is that when you deep-fake a CGI creation, the mouth still doesn’t work, because the base you’re working from is fundamentally wrong. So you have the images of a real person trying to match the incorrect mouth movements of a digital recreation of that person. The deep-fakes of Carrie Fisher over CGI Leia have the same problem. Leia may look a little more realistic (only a little) and then she mouths the word “Hope” and suddenly she’s an effect.

I think it might be possible for someone to (using a feathered mask of sorts) plop down the original mouth on top of the deepfake.

The Force Awakens: Starlight (V1.1 Released!)

Agreed. This was excellent. Starkiller base was blowing up but I was thinking about what Snoke said. Lol.

In the original film, this subject/idea/concept is not addressed again directly so you kind of forget about it. But placing it here at the end of the film wets your appetite (so-to-speak) for future events. It’s on your mind as the film ends. Excellent.

Putting this here so I don’t forget it:

Concept: pan down from the crawl onto a starfield which matches this shot of the Falcon going to hyperspace. Proceed directly into Rey landing on Ahch-To.

I had the same idea. Here was my mockup (transition happens around 2:20) I like that it’s a fresh intro style that’s still Star Warsy.

That’s pretty rad! 😉

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

Watching this “your mother” scene several times lately and noticed something that hadn’t dawned on me before:

Vader: conduct your search and bring his companions to me

Then no search is ever shown. It doesn’t affect the plot. Just a throw away line that doesn’t matter. Shame.

Also this hadn’t dawned on me before until recently. THIS is the scene of Luke confronting Vader that Yoda said needed to happen. As a kid I assumed Yoda meant another lightsaber battle needed to take place. Luke did too I guess. But without this conversation, the throne room scene could’ve been quite different. …right?

A fascinating video - ‘Behind the Scenes of Star Wars: The Original Trilogy ILM Special Effects Makers’:-

a 1 hour documentary focusing on the people at ILM doing the special effects for the OT movies. Try not to let the length of it put you off, the video flies through the time and leaves you wanting to know more! 😃

Yep. From the saga bluray extras. Good stuff.

I thought you were gonna post this:

Anyone else think Empire Strikes Back's Special Edition is actually better than the Theatrical Cut?

 1. Luke’s scream. Only used in the 1997 version, and a bizarre addition which was thankfully removed in all future versions. Without this, the 1997 SE would be about neck and neck with the 1980 version for me.

Unfortunately that scream is burned into my brain. So, even though it’s not on the Bluray, I still hear it in my head. Every. Single. Time.
