STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
Actually, while we're on the topic of dialogue -- I noticed that you switched the "Your powers are weak, old man" and "You should not have come back" lines during the Obi-Wan-Vader duel. I've been meaning to ask you about that ever since I first watched the Xvid -- what prompted to change?

Forgive me if this was already discussed -- I had read every page of this thread, up until a month or two ago, where I missed 15 or 20 pages of it when work got crazy (it's still crazy, but somehow, I found my way back here). I'll get around to catching up sometime soon, hopefully. :)

Same here, I don't even know how much I'll watch these it's just something I'd like to have.

Exactly.

Good luck with the move, and the job search!

Despite my excitement (and year-plus of anticipation!), I still haven't gotten a chance to sit down and watch this yet. I'm really hoping I can do it tomorrow!

In the meantime, however, I've been reading this thread, and just wanted to add a note to the discussion about the severed arm. In other scenes where a lightsaber cuts through something (especially in the PT), there are burn marks along the cut. I don't mean scorch marks (though those are there, too), but rather, glowing reddish-orange-ish burn marks. You can kind of see what I mean here:

http://theforce.net/swtc/Pix/dvd/aotc/maim_anakin.jpg

Other examples include earlier in that duel, when Dooku cuts Obi-Wan's arm and leg, as well as when Anakin loses his limbs at the end of ROTS (I was looking around the interwebs for images from those scenes, but couldn't seem to find any good ones).

Adding this to the end of the stump might add more of a sense that it was cut off by a lightsaber, along with creating continuity with much of the rest of the series.

Hope this helps!

Take care,
Sojourn

P.S. As I was writing this, I noticed that professa skiving at work beat me to bringing up this point, though I hope I helped elaborate on it a bit -- especially since the effect to which I'm referring looks a little different than a cigarette, though professa skiving at work's version doesn't look too shabby at all.

Yeah, I'm on DSL too, and my speeds keep bouncing around, as well. Hopefully, as more people join the torrent (especially the UseNet users who have completed their downloads and can hop on to seed), it'll get consistently faster. Torrents are known to be slower at first, but as they "mature", their average speeds increase.

It goes without saying, but I can't wait to see this!

You're right, to a certain extent; though there are some things Adywan hasn't shown us, like the new Death Star explosion, some new shots in the DS battle, the new severed arm in the cantina, etc. He's also said that he's kept some things secret so that we'll be surprised -- it's mainly those things that I wouldn't want to have ruined for me or anyone else ("OMG Ady, I loved the new Ewoks and Jar-Jar dancing scene as part of the extended Cantina musical number!"), since we won't know they're coming. As I said, it was just an idea I was throwing out there; if nothing happens with it, no worries.

I was just thinking -- I would like to respectfully request that once this comes out, that people not post spoilers, at least not for a little while. Not all of us are going to be able to get this at the same time, and it would be nice to preserve the surprises in store, while still being able to check the thread for availability and other news. Maybe we can find a way to highlight our posts to hide spoilers, or perhaps create a new thread for the release, in which spoilers would be allowed? If not, then we'll make do, but I thought I'd put the request out there.

Thanks, and take care,

I'm seeing it as more like the beginning of an era . . .

Adywan, my friend, congratulations. Sorry I haven't been here over the last day or two to have congratulated you when the news first hit, but now that I'm caught up, I'm as psyched and ready as ever. I'll be eagerly awaiting that torrent as well, and plan on downloading it the second I see it posted.

Really, though. Congratulations again. I wish there was more I could do to express my gratitude, other than downloading, burning, PIF-ing, and telling everyone I know! Let me know if you need some help getting compositing work done for the rest of the films; I'd love to help out if I can. And enjoy your well-deserved rest (and all of the gushing comments that will flow in in the meantime ) -- there's nothing like a render to tie up your computer and let you mentally justify getting some sleep.

I hope you're well, and that you're enjoying this as much as we all are.

Take care,

Indeed -- I've had, overall, pleasant experiences with the Geniuses, and I don't remember having to prove that I was still covered. I've even seen users with Powerbooks and older iMacs going in and getting help at the Genius Bar.

And thanks for the info on setting up Windows, DAYV -- I didn't know they officially offered that level of support for Windows-related issues. Good to know!

Yeah, it strikes me as weird that it would be a problem with the graphics card, especially since it appears to be intermittent (since it works every five times you try it). And it couldn't hurt to search around/start a thread at MacRumors while you're waiting for the other responses, eh?

The 90 days is for technical support, but you get a full year of repairs coverage -- so if you need repairs, you should be all set. And even though the 90 days is up, if you haven't called technical support yet, I think you get at least one complimentary support call. It's worth a shot, anyways -- if not to AppleCare, then to an Apple Store or general Apple Inc. support line. Good luck!

They might, but remember that Apple doesn't officially support Windows, just Boot Camp. I don't know how they would classify this problem -- as one with Boot Camp (which sets up the partition and the drivers -- and which, from your description, sounds like it worked as it was supposed to), or one with Windows itself. Of course, if you have AppleCare, it wouldn't hurt to ask them -- I'm just not sure if they would consider this fix to be under their mandate.

Sorry, Zion -- I'm afraid I haven't heard of that problem, either. I successfully installed XP on my Macbook Pro back in July or so, but I don't have all of the hardware complications you have with all of your extra drives, etc.

I haven't spent a lot of time on the Apple forums, but I would also recommend the MacRumors forums -- it's a great community, and I've seen many problems solved there.

Good luck, and keep us posted on what happens! I'm interested to see how the problem gets resolved.

Absolutely. This is a really great and supportive community. I have no doubts that someone will send you one for free at some point after the release, if you need it. It should also be available for download, so if you have a fast enough internet connection and a DVD burner, you should be able to make your own copy, as well.

Hope this helps!

I thought so, too, due to the avatar -- but that cover is Owen-Lars-Kenobi's, not Adywan's. And you're right -- it looks great!

By the way, O-L-K -- feel free to check your PMs.

And Adywan -- hearty congratulations on your progress! I'm eagerly awaiting the upcoming release, along with everyone else. Though I'm wondering if I should wait until the DVD-9 release, to watch it for the first time in its full glory, or if I should just get it as soon as it is released, on DVD-5?

Any new Mac you buy now will come with Leopard pre-installed. And while I suppose it somewhat depends on your computing needs, I'd have to say yes -- I upgraded to Leopard on release day, and love it. I wouldn't want to go back to Tiger -- and that's saying something, because I loved Tiger.

I can help with the U.S. chain, as well (I can burn both DVD-5 and DVD-9 discs), and I'd also be up for helping to seed a torrent -- especially after the end of January, when I'll be back at a fast internet connection.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone, Adywan! I guess all of us had better get to work on our DVD covers!

P.S. Anti-Matter -- I believe you're referring to P D F in #3, right? Not P I F?
