Episode I Digital Yoda Images!!!!
Time
This is from a Revenge of the Sith DVD review. At one of the press conferences of review parties or whatever they are at Skywalker Ranch, our pal Rick McCullum mentioned this about the Digital Yoda:

Oh, and there will never, ever, be a CGI Yoda replacing the puppet Yoda in the early "Star Wars" movies. The audience seemed relieved by this news.

So let's put this rumor to bed. A CGI Yoda might be in The Phantom Menace, but we won't see him in the Classic Trilogy. Thank the Maker!!

Return of the Jedi - was it what it was meant to be?

Otherwise, it was just him trying to get too cute after the darker tone of ESB. He needed the darker tone in ROTJ for the first half, because Vader's redemption and Leia and Han's love would have brightened the ending. We didn't need fuzzy creatures and slowly paced romps in the woods. Let the great story tell itself, and don't treat the audience like 6 year olds. We promise we won't cry, we didn't during ESB.

Sadly, about 22 years too late. I wonder How much the Cute and cuddly is influenced by the media of the times. This was the generation that brought us Elmo, after all.

Waitaminnut! There's a Star Wars A Musical Journey the ADM Dialogue-Free Edition? Dang! If any one is all ambitious-like, I'd sure like to see a few extra music videos from the prequels or Jedi. ANH and EMPIRE dominated that disc. Granted, there weren't that many notable tunes from Clones, but Sith wasn't bad. But that might have to wait another 30 days. Oh. please oh please oh please!

you could a the original cut scene from behind the magic as a template.
and make cg sand blowing
and use doubles for luke ,leia, han and lando

and use use voice overs or to lift dialog from other parts of the film.
and use it for your fan edits.
what ya all think of the idea

thanx

I'd love to see this as well as a full color version of the Luke / Treadwell scene from the first one. Maybe someone could talk the guys who put together One More Season to do it. It was cheesy, but watching Luke work on the vaperator in full color blew me away.

So true, that goes for me straight the heart of problem with the CG in the SEs and in parts of the Prequels.

I mostly agree with this. I think a big problem that never is looked at is the compositing. Puppets infront of a blue screen usually look just as phony as the CGI charactures composited into the plates.

I guess it is whether you prefer boring, limited movement puppets that are obviously there on set, or more dynamic, articulate CGI models that are obviously matted in later.

I usually just take off my glasses and they all look the same anyway.

Sluggo,

Great pic. Is there any way you could upload this as a JPG, or better yet a BMP? The PNG format seems to be reducing the number of colors. It's most noticable in the starfield.

Looks like Mr. Freeman has it covered. I always have problems linking images. Now if somebody programs a drag and drop feature....

This shot was fantastic on the IMAX screen. But it shouldn't replace the original. I'd be a cool feature on a bonus disc or an easter egg.
There was another shot ILM did for this film of the Falcon blasting to hyperspace. It knocked my socks off. 2 people passed out from the smell.
